  1. I would suspect the electrolytic capacitors. In the 2413S PLM. The caps where bad but showed no signs of bulging or spilling out their guts. I don't have a capacitor or RSR meter to test them. The green one second from the left is one of the brands in the PLMs. I can't read the brand of the other ones.
  2. The silver cylinder glued to the PCB looks like a crystal for the processors oscillator.
  3. The I/OLinc Sensor Input is for dry contacts only as it has its own pull up to +5 volts. Yes the LED is on the sensor Input and can glow even if the Sensor Input is not below the threshold of about <.95 volts.
  4. The 120 volt AC relays should work. You mentioned stopping part way. The open closed micro module will not to that as Stu pointed out. It has a preset time activation you set during the calibration part of the installation.
  5. Does the dryer have electronic controls? My thoughts are its electronic controls is generating power line noise or the manufacturer put an AC rated capacitor directly across its power feed and it is a signal sucker. Was the filter designed for X10 or Insteon signals? Some generic filters will actually kill the X10 or Insteon power line signals as noise. Finding an X10 or Insteon power line filter with a high enough current rating could be a problem. Opening the dryer and just filtering the electronics should work but would void any warranty and maybe have a poor spouse acceptance.
  6. Smartenit makes some plug in Insteon Modules with more than one relay. That could be used to switch Dry Contact Inputs. EZIO40 is one that comes to mind. They are plug in and not wired where you can hide them in an electrical box. I also don't know if all there features are completely handled by the iSY994i. I know that some features need you to use their Utility Suite to be set from default.

    Transformers can also have a higher output voltage. If not loaded close to its rated current.
  8. You have to power up the new PLM before the ISY994i. The ISY994i checks for a PLM and its ID when booting up. If it doesn't know the new PLMs ID. It may try and use the incorrect ID from the old PLM.

  10. The 2456S3 Appliancelincs also have the Local Control Sensing current. The Revision 4.? ones also have a snubber network across the relay contacts. So when Off there is current through the snubber also. So small load LEDs may also glow with them. I can't say about the Dual Band On/Off Model as I have none to test.

  12. Turning Off the Load Sensing feature does not remove the sensing current. It just tells the module to ignore seeing the local loads on off switch being toggled. As mentioned a small incandescent load like a 4 watt night light. Should stop the the low glowing of the LEDs.

    The external sensor is only displayed on its LCD screen and not reported at all. There is a thread here where the user.   14. The Red Labels on modules indicate it is a Controller and Responder. A Blue Label on a module is a Responder only. If you click on the module in question. On the right side of the display. It will show what it is controlling and what it responds to. On responders only. It will only show the devices it responds to.

    Looking at the wiring instructions. One thing you may have missed. The supplied transformer is made to be mounted in a knockout hole. On an electrical box . So you would have to splice a power cord onto the wire pigtails. If you want to plug it into an outlet.

    The output of the transformer could be higher than 24 volts. If it is lightly loaded.
  17. If you had problem with formatting the SD card. You may have an SD card that is marginal.
  18. If you did not do anything to scenes or modules. After changing the PLM. Use the PLM replacement instructions in the links provided. If you made some changes. Some links you added with the new PLM not detected may have improper links in them. Though most should still be OK.
  19. Open the Event Viewer and use level 3. Try and add the problem 2475DA1. Save the Event Viewer information and post it here for examination. The latest firmware lets you save to the Clipboard or you can save it as a .txt file. You are using the latest released firmware 4.2.18?
  20. I got an early Icon On/Off module. The label on the micro said Beta. I was told that the firmware in it was a released version and the labels had not been reprinted removing the Beta designation.
  21. The Icon product line was a less feature and cost. One year warranty modules. No pass through AC outlet on the front cover of plug in modules. Made by the same factory who also make the full featured Insteon line. When the seven year extended warranty could be added to the Insteon line {now no longer an option}. The Icon was not sold with an optional seven year warranty.
  22. I did basically the something with a ControLinc that Smarthome took off all the Insteon labels and sold them for a short time as an X10 Controller. The ControLinc is an odd ball. It can't be linked with the Start Linking Command and holding one of its buttons. They didn't reflash the firmware. So it and a few other disguised Insteon modules with exchanged labels where a bargain for me. The big clue was they didn't remove the six digit ID tag from one of them.
  23. Almost all electronic devices. Have internal power line filters on their AC input to prevent its electronic from putting electronic noise back on the power lines. That filter can absorb Insteon and X10 power line messages. Some with marginal filters may also allow noise back on the power lines. Power bars with a noise filter can also cause absorption of power line messages. Not all power bars have filters. Many of us use a Filterlinc for our electronics. I have mine on a APC UPS and my PLM on the unfiltered AC outlet on the front of the Filterlinc. Not every electronic device needs filters. Sometimes a test with the questionable device plugged in compared to unplugged. Can show some problem devices.

  25. I would suspect the fan motor has multiple taps or different sized caps switched into the motor circuit. As the OP indicated a manual three speed setting.
