Kentinada Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 All my INSTEON devices show with the red ! and I cannot communicate with any of them. I am using a PLM that was recently repaired by INSTEON. e.g. I tried to see the Device Links Table for a specific INSTEON device and the error I got is attached. I have not had to diagnose a major failure like this in a long time and I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. Suggestions?
DennisC Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I'm not in front of the admin console, but under Tools in the top menu check the number of links for the PLM. If none, the PLM is bad. If you just installed the PLM, make sure you plug it in 30 seconds before your ISY device. 2
Geddy Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 @Kentinada Did you attempt to restore the PLM? It's possible it was wiped as part of the repair process so the ISY994 might find it as a new PLM. Review the Wiki for PLM Replacement steps: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Replace_Modem_(PLM) 1
Kentinada Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 There are 49 links in the PLM table and the PLM status check looks ok. See attached. What's next? Devices still show red !.
DennisC Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 Was this repaired PLM just installed or has it been working? Try right clicking a device that is not working and select restore device.
Techman Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 @Kentinada Did you have a good and current backup prior to putting the repaired PLM back on line? You might try doing a factory reset on the PLM, then a restore PLM Is the PLM address the same as it was before the repair, if so then the factory reset / restore PLM should be all that you need to do.
Kentinada Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 This repaired PLM has been working fine for several months.

Kentinada Posted September 19, 2023 Author Posted September 19, 2023 Yes I am. I'm getting 2 "Item Not Found" messages now too. But I have hit the Query button the devices with red ! points and the devices are coming back online. No clue what happened.

If you are getting the not found message, you need to completely clear your Java cache (all 3 boxes) and then download a new start.jnlp. After running the new start.jnlp you will have a new IoX Launcher on your desktop. That should stop the message. If you still have red, try the restore device I mentioned earlier. 1

Michel Kohanim Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 @Kentinada, If everything used to work before but it does not anymore: 1. Reboot and make sure the status of Tools | Diagnostics | PLM Status/Info is still Connected 2. If it is, move the PLM to a different outlet and one which is not shared with other transformers 3. If you have done File | Restore PLM, then you might have ruined all the links. So, when you get things working again, do File | Restore devices: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Restore_Devices
