Can you provide a little more information on exactly what you are doing and what the results are?

Start be clearing your Java cache, being sure to check all 3 boxes and then delete files.

Download a new start.jnlp from UD website.

After download, click on start.jnlp to run.

If that doesn't work, try deleting your state files and try again:

Admin Console Minimized/Invisible and Cannot be Restored

This is usually related Admin Console state files not being updated properly and especially in case of multi monitors. All you need to do is to find the following files in Java temp directory (on Windows: c:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Temp) and delete them. Or, you can simply search the computer for udi_*.state or ud_*.state file patterns:

ud_finder.state

udi_finder.state

udi_frame.state

udi_launcher.state

udi_pgm.state

udi_tree.state

I've said this before and I say it as a user of other automation systems.

The use of Java is cumbersome middleware and is likely a reason the ISY/Polisy/EISY isn't gaining widespread adoption.

The UD firmware is far superior and capable than other automation systems I use.

I hope there is a plan to replace the UI someday.

Already in the works, it is UD Mobile.

I read that too, but I'm not clear how it translates to the PC and Mac.

I haven't seen any reference to that?

@Javi do you have any information and timelines?

An app on a portable device is fine for little tasks here and there, simple stuff, and I do find it useful. But it doesn't come close to providing the kind of capability that a full programming IDE does.

Now, the admin interface for UD also falls short somewhat, but it is miles ahead of what a portable app could do.

I sure hope we don't lose that.

A lot of folks speak ill of java, but there is no reason that a well written java program can't be just as good and indistinguishable from one with tight compiled code. Many programming frameworks are written entirely in java.

If you don't like java, then python, or C, or whatever, please.

Javi has posted about it in the past. Do a search in the forum.

Before, the plan was to hope that the Windows Android emulation gets better and use that. Last time I tried it was a big failure, and the database was not even cross-compatible with android and iOS versions (I am an iOS user). A lot of work to do.

Have you used Home Assistant on a mobile device? While awkward for doing anything significant due to its size, the functionality is mostly there if need to.

I have zero problems with java and I do my own programming in Python.  I also use Home Assistant at another residential location with Insteon and Z-Wave.

But I see so many people that having problems with the AC.  How many times have you seen Finder doesn't work, where is start.jnlp, delete your java cache after an upgrade, etc.

All I'm saying if UD wants to grow adoption of their automation device, the UI needs to be replaced.

Currently, the app runs on M1 and M2 Apple machines.

I highly doubt the timelines are current if there's anything...

I'm just getting back into the ISY after a few years of not touching it, only using the functionality my old system provided at the house I recently sold.

I just got an eisy and have an older w10 desktop in an inconvenient place in the new house. I got it setup yesterday and tried the "cloud" version of VNC to access it as my main device is an ipad. Works well, the usual remote AC eye strain & tweaking fonts and window sizes.

After reading this thread, I gave the mobile app a try. It does a lot. Granted my setup is small right now and only a couple of small programs, but it's workable, small changes happen much faster IMO. The only thing during setup that the AC can do that the app couldn't is the Insteon diagnostics. Out of the box, the new Insteon PLM would not be recognized by the eisy, and factory resetting it worked and could be verified on the AC.

Hi All,

The UDM is available for M series Macs in the app store. Currently no plans on supporting UDM on older Macs, too much work for our small company.  AC will continue to work with all Macs.

UDM is available in the Amazon App store (Android).  Most newer windows 11 PCs support Windows Subsystem for Android which is automatically configured if the user downloads the Amazon App store from the Windows Store.  However I have not had time to test/enable the App for Desktop.  This is high on my list, alas is not completed. Currently no plans on supporting UDM on Windows outside of Windows Subsystem for Android. AC will continue to work with all PCs.

The Android and iOS apps are native to their respective platform. This will allow us to customize the views for larger screens, i.e. desktops, at some point. While native apps will work well to accommodate larger screens in the same code base it also created an issue where the databases backups for each platform diverged slightly. So, currently UDM backups from different platform (iOS/Android) will not work on the other, this only affects favorites.  I hope to get the database back in line, but I don't have a time frame.

UDM has most of the most used AC functions.  UDM also supports all nodes (specifically node servers), status, and commands. To ensure UDM supports all nodes/status/commands the initial focus was function over form so the app is not a beautiful as some of our competition. We are currently working on beautifying the app.

While UDM supports many AC functions, the AC will still be needed in some situations for the foreseeable future.
