TriggerLinc 2843-222 - Events Not Detected by ISY
Some thoughts and consideration if you decide to go this route. 1. You must use *Control* as the condition. 2. The gap distance between the reed switch and the solenoid must be very close and affixed securely. 3. To avoid duplicate emails / SMS insert a wait statement prior to the email. 4. The N.O. sensor should have a large gap distance specification this will ensure the reed always trips open a magnetic field being generated. 5. Ensure you have a strong dual band Insteon network in place. Using 3M double sided tape wasn't enough because the surface area was not flat. To ensure the reed sensor stayed in place I inserted some foam along with the 3M tape. Once the case is in place the entire Insteon / Door bell integration is well hidden and stealthy.

Sorry to hear the replace with didn't work. But happy to learn the final outcome was positive.

I'm not sure what thread you're referring too but their is an entire *Forum* dedicated to the Insteon Wish List: http://forum.insteon.com/forum/main-category/new-insteon-device-wish-list

In the big picture if this feature is important to you. There is a formal Wish List company thread created by Insteon. Those so willing should focus their energy by adding said request to the Insteon Wish List!!! [emoji106] In my time on this planet I've found more people are talkers than doers!! [emoji849] Let's do more than talk . . .

From a practical stand point I would say offer real world examples and demo of the Polyglot framework in use. If I saw Sonos, NEST, Phillips Hue, what ever operating in a You Tube video with a high level over view with links to the developer SDK etc. That would be a good first step along with Twitter, FaceBook, exposure etc. I think the biggest opportunity is sending out this information to tech websites that can help bring more awareness. Another important part is working with partners who can help cross promote the framework while using it in their products. Another opportunity for UDI for revenue stream is offering to provide the development of said node server to connect to what ever. As you noted the geo fence development was a great working example. replace irrigation controller
You should be able to click on the device in the tree. Right mouse click and select replace with. Keeping in mind you need to add the new device first to the controller so you can REPLACE WITH X. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Now, the areas bolded in red is what I didn't know or understand. Does the NMM consortium group have or will offer a means to certify a node server / node service meets all of the requirements?

Michel, I truly believe anything that helps 3rd party developers take on, and adopt this framework is worth while. My hopes are 3rd part Devs will see value in this Polyglot framework to start their very own development as has been seen in the Vera / Homeseer forums. On a related tangent has the company been able to sort out the possibility to create node servers they could sell? I think this is one of the pain points for some developers . . . Also, there are a few highly requested node servers that have been created by others in this forum. My question is (IF) UDI will ever be able to offer Sonos, NEST, Phillips Hue, (Name what ever is popular) as pre reconfigured nodes?

Question regarding ISY HTTP Port
SNI in my estimation is just a work around to the core problem of running out of IP addresses. The flexibility SNI offers to large enterprise companies can't be understated. But the reality is its just another choice / solution to help resolve past issues in the Internet topology. I don't believe the creators of the Internet were ever imagining trillions of devices on line at any given moment in time. With the advent of IoT devices the need for IPv6 addressing is fast approaching . . .

Mwester, Your uncanny ability to dumb things down to the masses is right up there with my partner in crime Oberkc!! [emoji106] Because I'm not a programmer and just some Average Joe. Some of these elements are harder for me to understand the first go round. I know in the past I read you created a node server using super tiny low power (ESP?) micro chip. I don't know how strong you're in programming but if you can rewind the clock to a time where you knew nothing. How do you rank being able to deploy a Polyglot node server from start to finish? 1 being very easy 5 being very hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

6 button keypad, how to address "main" button versus "A" button
This assumes two things. If the load is attached you have five options because the top on is attached to the load and the bottom switch turns off the load and the top button. If the load is not attached the top on can be used independently of the bottom off button. I know clear as mud. . .

Hello Michel, Some of this may be covered by the developers SDK so apologies if it is. Will the Polyglot framework ever be refined to a point where a person need only populate data points from the 3rd party product / service? I suppose essentially what I'm asking is having basic to advanced templates already defined in the ISY Series Controller. Regarding a KS Project I would be lined up ready to go! I hope consideration for a Polyglot server is similar to what you proposed a few years ago but didn't materialize. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hello Michel, Appreciate the insight on the above. As of this writing is the Polyglot framework easily adapted and developer friendly to average programmer? I understood last year the Polyglot framework was undergoing more refinement and finalizing. Is that the case or is the current development SDK still in flux or something any vendor can start to use now and not have to worry about major changes in the framework? I ask because several companies have committed to adding node server support. But only if such framework is considered finalized and public ready for development. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Michel, Great written article by you! From a high level couldn't someone say the node model you wrote about is just another *standards* of concept like weave, thread, Apple home kit, etc? [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To be honest I see value in both positions. But in the big picture I would just prefer the hardware was built with higher quality parts to begin with!

Using thermostat only for ambient temperature and fan control
Ensure you verify communications is fine after you install the new transformer. The most critical is via the Admin Console where you can see real time status updates. Often times you will be able to see local status just fine. But that same status doesn't reflect what happen locally. Plan to have a Insteon Filter Linc at the ready should this problem arise. LOL . . . Or ~ Reading follow up reviews where the product met all the users needs and desires. Yet, these stupid fools still provided a 1~3 star rating on the product instead of a 5?!?!? I can't imagine being a upstanding vendor who makes a solid product, offers service after the sale, and still gets hammered on reviews in the public!!! As an aside there's one Amazon review which I believe has been going on for five years. Its quite the doozy and for the life of me can't recall what its about. All I know is the guy bought something that had nothing to do with what he needed. Even after asking tons of people who told him to purchase the correct hardware. He ignored everyone and purchased the incorrect hardware and then has the balls to come back to Amazon saying the product didn't suite the use case? That was a real WTF . . .

The unit is RF only so you need to ensure you have a solid dual band Insteon network. Since you have the outlet I am going to assume its the dual outlet which is RF and Powerline. If so ~ Good to go . . .

quick question
The link Paul provided offers the steps via the ISY Portal. The steps I provided allows you to install the Admin Panel locally to that computer.

Does anyone make an Insteon announcement speaker/device
Has anyone experienced where the system will begin to announce the incorrect voice NR. Then, catch itself and begin playing the correct NR file? This has been happening for awhile and I have no clue why this is. For what ever reason it seems to be isolated to specific NR's yet other voice announcements never have this apparent overlap when called to duty?
