Issues with Notifications
Hi PLCGuy, What's in the body? If nothing, you might want to add a something to the body. -19 means Write Failed. In short, the server didn't let ISY write the body of notification. With kind regards, Michel

Problem with "Start Linking"
Hello mzanni, Since we have never seen/experienced this problem before, I would have to first rule out firewall issues and, if so, then I will conclude the PLM is defective. Here's how we can make sure you don't have any problem with your firewall. Please open up the Event Viewer again and change it to level 3. Go to Configuration | System tab | Clock and click on Synchronize Now button. If you see anything in the Event Viewer, then you do not have any firewall issues and I would strongly suggest getting a new PLM. On the other hand, if you do not see anything in the event viewer then the problem is firewall which will have to figure out the resolutions to. With kind regards, Michel

Web Resource Activiation
Hi Rich, I am sure you will find applications that will provide you with that functionality though I am against it for security reasons (you'll open your computer up to almost anything). I am still not clear why activating the camera directly from ISY takes more time than the batch file. With kind regards, Michel

Problem with "Start Linking"
Hi mzanni, Quite odd. 1. Can you tell me what's your ISY's firmware version? 2. Can you tell me what's your Java version? 3. Can you tell me whether or not you have a firewall software on your computer? If so, which? With kind regards, Michel

Web Resource Activiation
Hello rschneid, Please increase the timeout. Read error only means that ISY didn't get a response within the timeout period. And, as you mentioned, ISY cannot handle Javascript so this method is not going to work at all because Javascript is processed by the client (in this case ISY). With kind regards, Michel

Problem with "Start Linking"
Hello mzanni, Please unplug your PLM, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Once that's done, reboot ISY. Once rebooted, please login to the Admin Console and go to Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer. Change the level to 3. If you see any traffic at all, please paste the contents. If not, click on Start Linking and then paste the contents. With kind regards, Michel

Why is isy trying to communicate with DirecTv?
Hi mikeiud, Actually, it's the other way around. It's DirecTV that indiscriminately floods the network with UPnP packets and then, again indiscriminately and without regards to type, contacts those devices that respond. In some cases, the problem is so severe that ISY might lock up. We have not been able to figure out what causes these burst from DirecTV. With kind regards, Michel

Release 3.3.4 (RC1) Is Now Available
Vyrolan, No, not true. LeeG's comment is 100% true: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=10009&p=75777#p75777 For non-I2CS devices, we used to allow devices to be added by forcing their type. Releases 3.3.x do not allow you to add device X as device Y. We can debate whether or not this should be the case, but we did have multiple support issues + I2CS things that propelled us to take this direction. With kind regards, Michel

Unbale to backup
Hello deirwin, LeeG is 100% correct on both counts. Please go to Configuration | Networking | Network Resources and make sure you have a Resource with ID=1. If you do have it, please open it with Resource Editor and make sure it has contents and re-save it. If that does not work: 1. telnet to ISY 2. login and at the prompt type: RF CONF/NET/1.RES With kind regards, Michel

ISY 99i PRO Port Forwarding Question
Hi Phil, ISY has two ports: one for http (unsecure) and one for https (secure) both of which you can change in Admin Console | Configuration | System | Network Settings. First of all, please do NOT ever forward to the unsecure port. As far as the secure port, usually anything above 2000 should be OK and not used by well-known services. For your reference, please take a look at instructions here: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... PnP_Router With kind regards, Michel

Release 3.3.4 (RC1) Is Now Available
Hi Travis, Bad answers: not what I was hoping to hear!!! At the moment, what I recommend is this: 1. Clear your Error Log so that we can start fresh 2. Reboot your Linksys Router (not the NetGear one) even though it does not have Linksys firmware 3. Let's wait for it to happen again 4. Send me the Error Log directly (support@universal-devices.com) With kind regards, Michel

Web Resource Activiation
Hi Rich S., Can you tell me: 1. What does BI Web Server expect 2. What you are having ISY send it 3. What's the error you are getting. If no error, then you might want to use WireShark to see if there are any network errors With kind regards, Michel

Release 3.3.4 (RC1) Is Now Available
Hi Travis, I am so very sorry to hear. We did have one other report of this issue which, apparently, had to do with some device/program interactions. Still unsure as to the exact reason but it's now fixed. Questions: 1. Do you have any devices to which you cannot communicate (i.e. red ! marks next to them)? 2. If you look at your logs, do you see a lot of X10 activity (if any) right prior to the hang? 3. Is your router Linksys Exxx series? If so, are you certain that you have the latest firmware on it? 4. If you have DirecTV, has anything changed on your setup? With kind regards, Michel

Why does ISY99i sometimes lose ability to show device status
Hello SunSentry, Thanks so very much for the feedback. The are some "Java" differences between 3.2.6 and 3.3.4 the most important of which is the compiler: 3.2.6 was compiled with a 1.6 compiler whereas 3.3.4 is compiled with a 1.7 compiler. So, I am wondering that perhaps you're still on Java 1.6? Or, better yet, you are not on Java 1.7.9? Would you please check your Java version? With kind regards, Michel

Hardware Specs
Xathros, and oberkc, thanks so very much for the feedback! Issacsim, we should have ZWave/alpha very very soon. This said, it will be in alpha with limited support for limited set of devices to begin with. So, I do believe the same as oberkc: your decision should be based on which protocol (INSTEON vs. ZWave) would become your primary protocol and which the secondary. With kind regards, Michel

Hardware Specs
Hello Issacsim, I can only provide you with an analogy since I do not know much about Vera apart from it being based on openWRT: You would use a 10 ton truck to haul 10 ton things. Linux is a 10 ton thing which requires all the horse power + more. With kind regards, Michel

Use Insteon Temp in email with substitution variable
Hello Stephan, I am so very sorry for the lack of information. Yes, we should be able to do that. With kind regards, Michel

Forgot Username and Password, restore keeps restoring old 1
Hello beachfront71, Yes, your backup includes your userid/password and thus every time you restore it, you will get your old userid/password. What you might want to do instead of doing a factory reset, is to reset your password. The process is the same (press/hold reset button) but the duration is about 10 seconds: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/ ... d/Password With kind regards, Michel

johnnyt, Upgrade is not going to help any of these symptoms. 3.3.5 might help a little with download speeds. With kind regards, Michel

Phantom keypad signals
Hi flsenior, The first thing I recommend to check your Program Summary tab and see whether or not any programs get activated. I suspect you have programs that are being activated/deactivated. Secondly, you would want to do a restore ON THE DEVICE that's turning on/off randomly. And, finally, if KPL version is 2A or 2D, then it's the KPL itself and it must be replaced. With kind regards, Michel
-
Hardware Specs
Hi johnnyt, Not noticeably but just a little smoother. The CPU is the same and so is the clock See above 99i will go to maintenance mode next year: only bug fixes The only reason you would want to upgrade now instead of next year is the incredibly low price ($109 for 994i). Otherwise, you can wait and upgrade if and only if necessary With kind regards, MIchel

ISY994i question
matapan, There are no Zigbee locks. But, ISY994 will support ZWave locks (with an additional/optional ZWave dongle/kit). With kind regards, Michel

Upgrading to 994i Pro
Hi Andy, QueryAll is only there for cases where you need more accurate status information especially if you use a lot of Dim/Bright AND if you use status of devices in programs. Xathros, you are 100% correct. I had completely forgotten. With kind regards, Michel

Venstar skyport integration
Hello Issacsim, Unfortunately we do not have any such plans yet unless the demand gets high. With kind regards, Michel

Hardware Specs
Hi johnnyt, It has an IR input and thus you can use your RC5 remote to command and control your devices in ISY through programs. With kind regards, Michel
