  1. jwagner010, KPL timers only allow for group 1 to be a controller. This means that regardless of which button you press, only group 1 multicast is sent. And, therefore - unless I am totally off - there's no way for adding individual buttons as controllers. So, all you have to do is to drag/drop button 1 into a scene as controller. The effect is that based on the button you press, the elapsed time for Off will vary. With kind regards, Michel
  2. d_l, I am so very sorry for the inconvenience. From what I read (especially the fact that ISY could not query some of your devices + the fact that no events are received) tells me that we might be dealing with a faulty PLM. Please do be kind enough to: 1. Reboot your PLM ... wait at least 60 seconds before you plug it back in 2. Try query those devices that had problems Please let me know if you still do not receive event statuses. With kind regards, Michel
  3. SomeWhatLost, Now I am VeryMuchLost! Does this happen on any URL used (http://www.universal-devices.com/99i as well as the direct URL)? With kind regards, Michel nope, both are just running the windows firewall... I tried turning it off, and still no go...
  4. jrabin, I think you would want to do the following: If Time is Sunset Then Send X10 'H11/On' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If On Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri at 11:00 PM Or On Sat, Sun at 12:30 AM Then Send X10 H11/Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') With kind regards, Michel
  5. Hello again SomeWhatLost, I don't think it's Java. I think it's firewall ... do you have a different firewall software installed on the other computer on which everything works fine? With kind regards, Michel
  6. Hello chadg, A point of clarification: There's really no direct link between switches even if you set them up manually; they are all group links (based on the button number). There's, however, a direct command which can be sent from one device to another. So, for instance, when you send turn on a device from ISY, you are sending it a direct command. For direct commands to work, there must be at least one link record in the responder with the address of the controller. So, in summary, when you put controller/responders in the same scene (in ISY), ISY actually creates all the links as they would've been created manually. With kind regards, Michel
  7. Hello deeepdish, long time no see! Apologies for a tardy reply ... At any point in the program, if the condition become false, the program stops running. As such, you are seeing the correct behavior. May I humbly ask why you have that condition in the first place? It seems that all you want to do is to turn on a fan for 30 seconds every 30 minutes. With kind regards, Michel
  8. Hello Denis, First of all, you are not doing anything wrong. The only issue is that for ISY to find devices in a PLC, the PLC should have the same type of memory map as PLMs or other INSTEON devices. The next best alternative is to retry the same method but this time start from a regular switch that has the most number of links to other devices in your house. Please do keep us posted. With kind regards, Michel
  9. Hello SomeWhatLost, We have some reports of recent Firefox/Java incompatibility which we are trying to resolve. Would you be kind enough to let me know: What version of Firefox do you have? What version of Java do you have? In the meantime, if you are accessing your ISY through /99i, please try accessing it directly and if you are accessing it directly try accessing it through 99i and let me know of the outcome. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel
  10. Hello ctviggen, Please do be kind enough to try: http://www.universal-devices.com/99i Also, if you have not already done so, I do recommend upgrading to 2.6.7 ( http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=1613 ) With kind regards, Michel
  11. Hello Eug, I do apologize for the inconvenience. This must be a bug; may I ask what version of ISY did you try to upgrade from? Yes, there's absolutely a way to recover. We can update it for you remotely (if you have it on the Internet) or we could send you instructions to do it over the serial communications if you feel like it. Please do let me know how you would like to proceed (tech@universal-devices.com). With kind regards, Michel
  12. Hi Gary, Yes, precisely. Have you tried this with Gmail yet? With kind regards, Michel
  13. jwagner010 and Gary, This is noted and we shall try and implement it in the next release (I hope!). With kind regards, Michel
  14. Hi Gary, Please start here http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewforum.php?f=2 . I will also send you our draft WSDK documentation. With kind regards, Michel
  15. boots, I do apologize for the inconvenience. Please do be kind enough to immediately contact our support (support@universal-devices.com) so that we can logon remotely and find out where the problems are originating from. As far as frequent request failures, in our experience, these are mostly related to noise on the powerline. With kind regards, Michel
  16. jtara92101, NO POSTS ARE EVER DELETED FROM THIS FORUM. NEITHER YOURS NOR ANYONE ELSE'S. Darrell and I are the only ones in charge of this forum and we never ever delete posts (once by accident but the author was immediately informed and it was reposted). If you have a copy (even if it's reconstruction of whatever you think you had posted) please DO POST IT AGAIN. Michel
  17. Hello Gary, What do you use in the User ID field? Is it empty? With kind regards, Michel I'm confused here. I don't use the default, but when mail is sent it comes from alerts@universal-devices.com.
  18. Hi IndyMike, That's an excellent observation and question. I think that would certainly cause problems. Usually, when you clear your Java cache and if you have all your browser windows closed, the class loader's cache should also be cleared. But, certainly something that we will have to investigate more. Thanks so very much! With kind regards, Michel Have you tried clearing your Java cache after the update? Yes, I did. That is, assuming that "clearing your Java cache" means "go to the Java Control Panel and delete the temporary files". (Yet another documentation issue...) As well as power-cycled the device and rebooted from the telnet console. None of this worked.
  19. Hi again, Thanks so very much. I have added it as a bug and we shall look into it. With kind regards, Michel This is what I get when going to the devices tab. The webpage at http://192.168.168.98/devices might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error. This is what I get when going to the scenes tab. The webpage at http://192.168.168.98/scenes might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error. And the same thing from the programs tab. The admin console does work though. I have seen it work when going directly to the webpage http://192.168.168.98/pgms And it did work on Google Chrome at 2.6.6.
  20. Gary, Thanks so very much for the update! jwagner010, I just checked: we use the user account as the email field (if you do not use the default). Is your account not equal to the email address? Also, as a temporary fix, you may want to use a Gmail account using TLS. This is 100% secure since the traffic is encrypted between ISY and Gmail. With kind regards, Michel
  21. Hi Gary, I truly apologize ... this should not have happened. Did you not receive a null modem cable? With kind regards, Michel
  22. Hi Gary, I am so very glad that everything is working fine. 1. Yes, absolutely; consider it done 2. You should have received two cat5e cables, one null modem cable, and one quick start guide Please do let me know if you have not received any one of them. With kind regards, Michel The new unit arrived today and works great. I upgraded to 2.6.7, configured it to use my SMTP server, and sent a test message. It worked but I did notice one small item and I have a suggestion. It send mail from alerts@universal-devices.com. My server complained about this as alerts@universal-devices.com has no rights to send email via my server, even with proper login. I bypassed this and made it work, but.. May I ask that in the next version you and an "email" field to the SMTP login? Thanks for the replacing the bad unit quickly. Your support is GREAT! One more question. When I received the initial unit, all that was included was the ISY and two Ethernet cables. No power supply, no manual, no CD. I don't need or even want these, but should I have received them? Best regards, Gary Funk
  23. Hello Mack, Yes, the best way is to use dynamic DNS and thus not be dependent on an IP address. You can get free DDNS accounts from: http://www.dyndns.com http://www.noip.com http://www.dnsexit.com ... and some others. With kind regards, Michel
  24. jtara92101, I am not going to try and convince you of ISY's merits. This said, however, I shall do my best to stop and dispel the dissemination of uninformed and blatantly wrong infromation: a) you can always go back to another revision (unless there's a hardware malfunction or a bug) within the same version the product IDs are stored in non-volatile memory and ISY should NOT allow updates for different platforms. This must be a bug and NOT a lack of correct design as you have so boldly presupposed Have you tried clearing your Java cache after the update? Yes, I did. That is, assuming that "clearing your Java cache" means "go to the Java Control Panel and delete the temporary files". (Yet another documentation issue...) As well as power-cycled the device and rebooted from the telnet console. None of this worked. It eventually did work in Firefox. No clear reason why. I noticed that I wasn't being prompted for a password in Firefox, but I was in IE, so I thought a cookie might be keeping me logged in, and it might be a good idea to delete the cookie. But no cookie found in Firefox for the device. Don't see a stored password, either, so dunno what the isy is doing to keep me authenticated between sessions. The really weird thing is it reporting the wrong version of the firmware (wrong model) with Firefox, and correct with IE. Please, guys. Double the flash if you have to, and add "go back to previous version". This is firmware 101. Should be one of the first bits of firmware developed for any downloadable firmware device. (i.e. even before user functionality) I am appalled that a mature product doesn't have it. Sorry for the rant. At work right now, I'm unraveling somebody else's configuration management mess - a lovely legacy dropped at my feet. And then I get this unpleasant reminder of the consequences of CM gone bad (or lacking at all). So, I'm a bit sensitive about these sorts of issues right now. I do agree, it's the best device on the market for the purpose. That doesn't make it good. Just the least bad of a bad set of choices. It's not very satisfying either from the standpoint of a non-technical consumer nor a techie. It's possible to design products that work for both, but this one works well for neither.
  25. Hi Ken, TLS works if and only if the server requests in the TLS handshake. If the server does not require TLS (such as gmail does), then TLS will not be used. I am not familiar with MDaemon. Just for testing purposes, would you be kind enough to sign up for a free Gmail account and let me know whether or not it works. With kind regards, Michel
