  1. jtara92101, NO POSTS ARE EVER DELETED FROM THIS FORUM. NEITHER YOURS NOR ANYONE ELSE'S. Darrell and I are the only ones in charge of this forum and we never ever delete posts (once by accident but the author was immediately informed and it was reposted). If you have a copy (even if it's reconstruction of whatever you think you had posted) please DO POST IT AGAIN. Michel
  2. Hello Gary, What do you use in the User ID field? Is it empty? With kind regards, Michel I'm confused here. I don't use the default, but when mail is sent it comes from alerts@universal-devices.com.
  3. Hi IndyMike, That's an excellent observation and question. I think that would certainly cause problems. Usually, when you clear your Java cache and if you have all your browser windows closed, the class loader's cache should also be cleared. But, certainly something that we will have to investigate more. Thanks so very much! With kind regards, Michel Have you tried clearing your Java cache after the update? Yes, I did. That is, assuming that "clearing your Java cache" means "go to the Java Control Panel and delete the temporary files". (Yet another documentation issue...) As well as power-cycled the device and rebooted from the telnet console. None of this worked.
  4. Hi again, Thanks so very much. I have added it as a bug and we shall look into it. With kind regards, Michel This is what I get when going to the devices tab. The webpage at http://192.168.168.98/devices might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error. This is what I get when going to the scenes tab. The webpage at http://192.168.168.98/scenes might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error. And the same thing from the programs tab. The admin console does work though. I have seen it work when going directly to the webpage http://192.168.168.98/pgms And it did work on Google Chrome at 2.6.6.
  5. Gary, Thanks so very much for the update! jwagner010, I just checked: we use the user account as the email field (if you do not use the default). Is your account not equal to the email address? Also, as a temporary fix, you may want to use a Gmail account using TLS. This is 100% secure since the traffic is encrypted between ISY and Gmail. With kind regards, Michel
  6. Hi Gary, I truly apologize ... this should not have happened. Did you not receive a null modem cable? With kind regards, Michel
  7. Hi Gary, I am so very glad that everything is working fine. 1. Yes, absolutely; consider it done 2. You should have received two cat5e cables, one null modem cable, and one quick start guide Please do let me know if you have not received any one of them. With kind regards, Michel The new unit arrived today and works great. I upgraded to 2.6.7, configured it to use my SMTP server, and sent a test message. It worked but I did notice one small item and I have a suggestion. It send mail from alerts@universal-devices.com. My server complained about this as alerts@universal-devices.com has no rights to send email via my server, even with proper login. I bypassed this and made it work, but.. May I ask that in the next version you and an "email" field to the SMTP login? Thanks for the replacing the bad unit quickly. Your support is GREAT! One more question. When I received the initial unit, all that was included was the ISY and two Ethernet cables. No power supply, no manual, no CD. I don't need or even want these, but should I have received them? Best regards, Gary Funk
  8. Hello Mack, Yes, the best way is to use dynamic DNS and thus not be dependent on an IP address. You can get free DDNS accounts from: http://www.dyndns.com http://www.noip.com http://www.dnsexit.com ... and some others. With kind regards, Michel
  9. jtara92101, I am not going to try and convince you of ISY's merits. This said, however, I shall do my best to stop and dispel the dissemination of uninformed and blatantly wrong infromation: a) you can always go back to another revision (unless there's a hardware malfunction or a bug) within the same version the product IDs are stored in non-volatile memory and ISY should NOT allow updates for different platforms. This must be a bug and NOT a lack of correct design as you have so boldly presupposed Have you tried clearing your Java cache after the update? Yes, I did. That is, assuming that "clearing your Java cache" means "go to the Java Control Panel and delete the temporary files". (Yet another documentation issue...) As well as power-cycled the device and rebooted from the telnet console. None of this worked. It eventually did work in Firefox. No clear reason why. I noticed that I wasn't being prompted for a password in Firefox, but I was in IE, so I thought a cookie might be keeping me logged in, and it might be a good idea to delete the cookie. But no cookie found in Firefox for the device. Don't see a stored password, either, so dunno what the isy is doing to keep me authenticated between sessions. The really weird thing is it reporting the wrong version of the firmware (wrong model) with Firefox, and correct with IE. Please, guys. Double the flash if you have to, and add "go back to previous version". This is firmware 101. Should be one of the first bits of firmware developed for any downloadable firmware device. (i.e. even before user functionality) I am appalled that a mature product doesn't have it. Sorry for the rant. At work right now, I'm unraveling somebody else's configuration management mess - a lovely legacy dropped at my feet. And then I get this unpleasant reminder of the consequences of CM gone bad (or lacking at all). So, I'm a bit sensitive about these sorts of issues right now. I do agree, it's the best device on the market for the purpose. That doesn't make it good. Just the least bad of a bad set of choices. It's not very satisfying either from the standpoint of a non-technical consumer nor a techie. It's possible to design products that work for both, but this one works well for neither.
  10. Hi Ken, TLS works if and only if the server requests in the TLS handshake. If the server does not require TLS (such as gmail does), then TLS will not be used. I am not familiar with MDaemon. Just for testing purposes, would you be kind enough to sign up for a free Gmail account and let me know whether or not it works. With kind regards, Michel
  11. jwagner010, Please remove them and add them back in. With kind regards, Michel
  12. Hi clark21236, What problem do you have with Google Chrome and 2.6.7? As far as the EEPROM, thanks so very much for bringing it up; there's a limit to the number of writes to an EEPROM. This was a heavily requested feature and we implemented it. We will have to educate our users about the ramifications of the usage of this feature. With kind regards, Michel
  13. Hello sca123, Apologies for a tardy reply. If you have any firewalls installed, please do be kind enough to checkout http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewforum.php?f=3 . If it still fails, please contact us (support@universal-devices.com) and we'll figure it out. With kind regards, Michel
  14. Hi Gary, Please accept my sincere apology. Another unit shall be on its way to you tomorrow. With kind regards, Michel
  15. Hello Gary, Thanks so very much for giving this a try. If you don't mind, please try the following two more experiments: 1. Change the network cable 2. Reboot your router If neither of these take care of the situation, please confirm your shipping address to "sales@universal-devices.com" subject RMA. In any case, you also have a defective PLM (that's why ISY goes to SAFE MODE) and thus I strongly recommend getting a new PLM as well. Again, sincere apologies for what you've had to go through, With kind regards, Michel
  16. Hi Gary, It should get a DHCP address from your router. Would you be kind enough to try and set a static IP address (CT) and see whether or not it shows up on your network? If this does not work, then I will immediately send you another ISY to test with. In some cases, if you have a defective PLM (the power fluctuated outside the bounds of the regulator in ISY), then you will experience network issues. Otherwise, ISY should always be able to get a DHCP address ... With kind regards, Michel
  17. Mr. Funk, I do apologize for the inconvenience. Would you be kind enough to let me know what version/revision of PLM you have? ISY goes into SAFE MODE if and only if it cannot communicate with the PLM. Please advise. With kind regards, Michel
  18. Brian, Excellent. Thanks so very much for the update. With kind regards, Michel
  19. Rich, At the first glance, the logs might seem wrong but, when you get to understand our code, then everything makes sense. The priority for the updater task is much higher than the priority for the reader task. So, when you add a wait, you are just basically telling the updater to "wait". While the updater is waiting, the reader continues to read. In English: if you look at your logs, they both have the same lines but in different orders. The order MAKES sense based on what you have. What I can conclude from the logs are: 1. ISY senses the family room light has turned off (accurate) 2. ISY activates the scene (accurate) Would be kind enough to do the following experiment: 1. Use the Family Room Stairs scene with any other switch except the Family Room Light. See if it has the same problem 2. Do the reverse, use any other scene with Family Room Light and see if has the same issue Please let me know of the outcome as this will tell me where the problem is originating from. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel
  20. Hi kclark, Apologies for a tardy reply ... yes, indeed but with a very low priority (unfortunately). With kind regards, Michel
  21. Hi Brian, Thanks for the update and yes, please do keep us posted. I would sincerely appreciate it. With kind regards, Michel
  22. Hi Brian, Is this only the issue of wrong time in the programs or does the Admin Console also shows the wrong sunset time? With kind regards, Michel
  23. Hi keribi, Good to hear and my pleasure! Now, all you have to do is to create a scene and drop them both in there as controllers (they are controlling one another). With kind regards, Michel
  24. Hello keribi, Yes, you need to link them through ISY. This way, ISY knows when you press the All On/Off and will update the statuses accordingly. With kind regards, Michel
  25. Description Version 2.6.7 User defined SMTP settings enables one to use his/her own SMTP service for notifications. Advantages 1. more secure especially if used in conjunction with a Gmail account (using TLS) 2. is not bound by UDI hosting SLAs We certainly recommend a Gmail account mostly because it's quite secure using TLS . How to use it From the Configuration page in the SMTP Settings section: 1. Un-check Use Default 2. Enter the SMTP setting for your ISP. If your ISP does not require authentication, please do not enter anything for Userid and/or Password Example Here is an example settings for Gmail: SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com SMTP Port: 587 Userid: isy-notifications@gmail.com Password: helloworld!2 Use TLS: checked Limitations TLS has only been tested with Gmail and may not work with other providers.
