  1. @Guy Lavoie "so the Eisy is definitely receiving the scene command and is able to do something in response such as control a Zwave device... but not trigger a program" The eisy doesn't know the state of a scene, only the state of the devices within a scene, as a scene does not report its state to the eisy. A scene can function without the eisy, i.e. if the eisy was disconnected, the devices that are members of a scene would still function as a unit. If you had several devices in a scene as controllers/responders and one of the devices were turned on or off the other members of the scene would respond accordingly. I'm not sure what it is that you're trying to do.
  2. "Cannot determine insteon engine" indicates that the PLM is unable to communicate with the device. Being that you've tried factory reset / restore devices without success, yet they appear to work when you move them closer to the Polisy, I would focus on either noise on the power line and/or your powerline legs not properly bridged.   3. If you want to trigger a program when a scene changes state, you could select a device in a scene and have a program trigger when that device changes state.
  4. @Guy Lavoie You can verify the integrity of a scene by running a scene test on a particular scene. Right click on a scene, then click on scene test.
  5. @CPRail1 You shouldn't plug the PLM into a UPS as it will most likely filter out its powerline signal, however if you have a dual band device close by that will help to get the PLM signal back on the powerline.. You should also have your UPS plugged int to a filterlinc as a UPS is notorious for creating noise on the powerline.
  6. @CPRail1 Being that the led on thr PLM was not lit that indicates a PLM failure. Make sure the outlet that the PLM is plugged into is not flakely. If your PLM is less than a year old it may be covered under warranty.

  8. Right click on a device that's not responding and then click on restore device. If that doesn't work let me know.
  9. Try removing power from the ISY for about 30 seconds. If that doesn't help then remove power from the ISY and remove the SD card and clean its contacts with a soft eraser. Also verify that the ISY power supply is supplying the correct voltage. If you have a spare supply then try swapping it.
  10. @gschoffstall You need to focus on communications between the devices and your PLM. If other Insteon devices are working then the problem is not a failed PLM. You mentioned that you have been switching beetween PLMs. If so did you follow the "Replace PLM" procedure? How many dual band devices do you have in your network. Have you verified that the powerline is bridged using the 4 tap test? (see attached file) 4 Tap test.pdf

  12. Scenes only support on or off. You'll need to either use multiple scenes, each with different on levels, or you could use programs to set the on levels.
  13. The (discontinued) ApplianceLinc is a powerline only device. Your issue is either caused by noise on the powerline or that your powerline is not properly bridged (see attached article) Being that Insteon is a mesh network, the more dual band devices you have, the more reliable your system becomes.   14. When you add a Zwave device to the eisy you'll most likely end up with extra nodes that you don't need. The reason being is that, unlike Insteon, zwave devices are designed to work with various Zwave hubs, and each hub may require and/or support these extra nodes. What most of us do is create a folder and move the nodes we don't use into that folder which will give you a cleaner device tree. I've attached 2 files that may help explain associations.   15. It appears that you have a communications problem between the PLM and your devices. It's possible that the you could have interference on the powerline.   16. @gschoffstall The PLM was manufactured in 2012. You should probably replace it with a 2413U. The current PLMs have improved circuitry and updated firmware. The USB model would eliminate the need for a serial to USB converter cable.
  17. It's possible, being that you have an older plm, that the system is OK but the PLM isn't. What is the 4 digit date code on your PLM? Do you have a recent and viable eisy backup? If you want to start fresh you need to factory reset each device, including the PLM, and the eisy. This will remove the link tables from all of the above. Before doing a factory reset you should try factory resetting just the PLM and then do a restore PLM. If you do a restore PLM then you should first disable the write to battery devices. You'll then have to restore each battery operated device, one at a time.
  18. For the EISY you should use the 2413U It uses a standard USB cable to connect to the EISY. The 2413S also works but it requires a USB to SERIAL adapter cable

  20. @bw23198 It's possible that your PLM is faiing. Check to make sure the green led on the PLM is on. Depending on how old your PLM is, it might be need to be replaced. Some of the older PLMs had a tendency to fail after a few years.
  21. You can restore the link table to an individual device by right clicking on the device then left click on "restore device". This only writes the link table to the device, not the plm I've attached a page from the ISY Cookbook which defines the restore process.   22. @Michaelco Try doing a "restore devices". This will write the all the device link tables to the plm. If you have any battery operated devices then disable automatic write to battery devices before you do the restore.
  23. I'm not aware of any way to clean the internal contacts in the ISY994. Have you tried rebooting the ISY. The problem you're having might be related to an issue with one of the configuration files on the SD card.. The eisy uses solid state memory, the specs are attched
  24. It's possible that your SD card is failing. One thing you can try is removing the card and cleaning its contacts with a soft eraser. If that doesn't help then you may want to replace the card. The configuration is stored on the SD card. Make sure you have a recent and viable backup. What is your ISY firmware version. How old is the ISY?
