Is there a question that you're asking?
-
Those have been answered and the answer is yes
-
While I separate my off actions from my on, you can also do it in 1 program in addition to Mr bill's method by using or else. Or else wait 5 minutes and turn off lights

It's possible but would probably be better to fix the issues you're having. What's the UI of your isy

Getting Insteon Keypad Buttons to Trigger Programs
lilyoyo1 replied to dex's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
It would be nice but probably has limited ROI since one could simply manually factory reset the device and restore it (which should give better results). If a person has to do a full system that way, chances are they have bigger issues and should be seeking direct help from UDI. -
Does anyone have a ISY994i/ZW that is not being used?
lilyoyo1 replied to SSchmidt's topic in Coffee Shop
it's not just wifi bulbs that can do that. Generally all smart bulbs regardless of technology can achieve that. Regardless, what does wifi bulbs behavior have to do with compatibility between a dimmer switch and standard led bulb? He's building a home. The contractor will be using (depending on location will have to use) standard bulbs not wifi based bulbs. -

Software won't change that behavior. If it's incompatible now it'll be incompatible then. -

You don't need a controller to test bulbs. Make a test rig using an extension cord and a socket. That's how I do mine -
You'll have to be more specific as that's too generalized of a question. Google is probably your best friend for this though. I can say Ra3 isn't supported by the Isy so that's a nonstarter of that's where you're trying to go. 800 series devices do not exist at this time and probably won't for some time so ditto for that. If you use hue, that'll tell you about zigbee

You don't have an upgrade option under help like the Isy

Have you tried putty and the information that Bumbershoot provided to see the os that you're on?

Existing setups still work. New setups do not. New setups require the home assistant api

Z-wave scenes compared to Insteon scenes
lilyoyo1 replied to SSchmidt's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
I'm not going to rehash the differences since there are at least 2 dozen posts chronicling the differences over the past year. I've linked the most recent one from last week to help you out. -
No there is not. At most you can import other linked devices as you add devices to the Isy. This method would be the fastest in getting devices into the isy. With that said, most who go this route end up with issues as well as spending more time trying to clean things up than they would've had they factory their devices and set them up 1 at a time with s clean install

Michel answered you previously on the first page of this post about the USB board. Since eisy uses usb ports then the board would need to be USB-A
-
My expectations are already tempered because I know it's not designed for me and my level of automation. There may be things that i can use to make my system better (mainly because of the Isy) but the overall design isn't made for me. My other reasons for keeping up with it is work. I have to stay up on things so that i know how to navigate things in the future. Outside of that- Matter is irrelevant
-
Where things stand can also tell you where you're going
-
Once again, that is incorrect. There are developer conferences that you should sign up for which will provide factual information for where they stand with things (they just recently had the latest one). Matter is not based on a singular app experience. What one can do will be based on different variables namely how and with what they are integrating with. In fact, in the very first webinar, they talked about how some vendors have already stated they will not have an interface for their devices since Matter can do the onboarding and setup directly. With that said, not much has been said in regards to specific details to know what can out cannot be done so anything said is pure conjecture
-
Actually, you're incorrect about Matter. It's a huge deal for them. Not necessarily in hardware sales (but even that can increase) but in the race for more information. QR codes and Bluetooth setup is already available for most things (even zwave supports this) so that doesn't matter (pun intended). What Matter is attempting to do is get away from needing vendor apps to set up devices and allow for greater LOCALIZED integration. That's something they state repeatedly as an impediment to people using smart assistants and Matter is supposed to free you from needing that (which is why is said it's about the assistants). Full featured device control will probably never happen due to the fact that so many devices can have different capabilities. It's easy to create device types and functions to control devices from multiple mfg. However, once a person starts adding their own features to separate them from others, that becomes more difficult. However, the integration Matter should allow will bring people closer to automation than what they have now. For example. In my house, I use android, my wife uses crapple, and in our parent rooms/guest rooms, they use Alexa while we use Google. If I were to use Google to turn a light on, my wife wouldn't be able to use her phone (and homekit) to turn it off...With Matter, this would be possible regardless of trigger.

Just have my eisy and USB stick ready. 😂 ***I'm serious though. I'm ready to try it out 😂

I don't think either one of us were saying it's an either/or situation. We both said to each their own. I can't speak for upstatemike, but the information I share is simply sharing my experiences the way you are sharing yours. This is how we all learn and grow. If no one ever talked about new ways and how they do things differently, nothing different would happen. No one is knocking you. Someone else could be reading this and sees what others are doing which enables them to expand what their system does (picked up a potential client this weekend because of it) I talk about what Matter is designed for because this is my industry. I get the pleasure of talking to people every week about what can be done in their homes. The things Ive shared are based on my conversations with clients, potential clients, and curious questioners about what they want. It's not me knocking you by sharing this information based on my experiences. These companies have all of our information. They study and dissect it in more ways than we can imagine to learn how to get more from us. The fact is, from talking to people, they know most do not want app control or complex logic. They want to buy something, put it in, and be done in a few clicks. Once done, they want to go to bed and turn off the lights. Your way, my way, Mike's way, (and anyone here). is far different than what most start out wanting to do. That's who Matter is after. We are not their customer base. A difference eofnopnion isn't a knock against anyone. It's a sharing of ideas for all. Listening to how you control your home is convoluted to me. Listening to how I set mine up would probably sound time consuming and convulated to you and not worth it. Neither way is worse. It's about what fits you and if you're happy with it
