With only one LED and 24 detected button push methods, how would any status be shown for the devices?

Like Paul I have an all Insteon system. There are reasons I thought about dabbling in some Zwave devices to mix with my dozen other WiFi (non-Insteon) components but the only thing I can think of is maybe the garage door opener and locks. I am not interested in remote control of either. I can open my self locking deadbolt door locks using a 4 digit combination using one hand, without pausing for even for one step, and pass through now. If I want to give somebody access I can give them a one time code for a one time pass-through. No cloud required, Zwave or other protocol necessary. Garage door? Not sure I want any control over it. I get notified if I drive away from it and leave it open. I believe on home automation, with remote control being a side effect, where I haven't automated that item yet. So far I have not seen the need to jump to a grid setup of Zwave to get one or two devices not included in the Insteon cluster of products to work.

Good point about the IP address however, I know from the original install that the app can snoop into my google accounts and locks me out of things when I have any google account information on any machine so far. The sideload from APKPure only lasts a few hours or less until it gets updated to the newer version automatically. I guess I could turn that off somewhere. Android is constantly making those options harder to find now. Amazon got back to me with a canned piece of info text to reset this and that and delete your amazon app cache etc. Go to the app store etc...All the things already done. Next step is to call them according to instructions. I am hearing they are becoming the best support in the world so I guess I am going to find out tomorrow. LOL

I have notified amazon of my problems, beinh most of the newer features including join-in are not available. I suspect amazon keeps a detail list of IP addresses that are not not allowed certain features and mine got missed when Canada was recently permitted to use these new features, being I am with a small ISP. We'll see what amazon has to say. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk

That is more typical of an inline code style language. ISY is an event based trigger language. You can write programs to run based on variable value changes or just set them and pick up the value in the subroutine as kingwr posted above, or both. A variable being set to a value can not only trigger one of hundreds of programs to run based on the value you set the State variable to, but every one of them can use the variable and modify it as per global variable rules elsewhere. Tried deleting the app completely, rebooting the android mobile device and reinstalling. Tried deleting, installing the sideload APKPure app and loading their version. Changed my amazon account back to a default NY address. Got the same app version number every time with no device operating screens, no gui screens, snd no amazon devices in any lists except for the settings lists. Not happening here for now. Thanks all. I am using the app with the same version number. It has the same options as the webpage but I haven't tried a sideload yet. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk

How does an Amazon device get associated with a device then? I have the same as Stu. No amazon devices are listed. I have created groups with different names but only portal elements found, can be included. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk

There is always posting them to a thread with what you want to do. Some of us love the logic challenge. Others do crossword puzzles.

My ISY finder does not boot automatically to the admin console either. This changed a few months back again. It has been back and forth over the last few years. Why? I don't know..possibly different java junks? You need to double click on the URL of your choice. If you do not have one then click the add button and add your IP address of your ISY.

Stusviews sets his options using a SmartHome Hub and uses with ISY until ISY gets full support added.

Question for people with Motion Sensors, Hidden Door Sensors, Smoke Bridge
larryllix replied to OverloadUT's topic in ISY994
Motion sensors have no heartbeat and their battery low signal is very unreliable. It may trigger at weird times and your batteries will last for many months after or it probably will not trigger at all. I record all mine and keep a list. I have two of 11 units owned that have sent low battery signals about two months ago and neither one has quit working yet., -
Use the ISY Else sections of the programs so you would get. Alexa. Turn Off All Lights Alexa...turn Off Bedroom light I use many programs triple duty. The If section operates like a smart HA box choosing one of the Then/Else sections The Then section can be vocally tied to Alexa...turn ON..XXXX The Else section can be vocally tied to Alexa...Turn OFF..XXXX

OK...by "programs" I assume you mean "Network resources"? Since I don't use any grouping / scenes on any device, except inside admin console and a few between Insteon devices, I don't know what else to tell you for this one. I would be sure somebody will be along soon that will be more knowledgable. You may have to use the advanced editor (bottom right) to modify your thread title into a question to attract those guys. EDIT:Sorry...long time thread. Maybe start a new one with a question for help. -
Yeah it should but this happens a lot being more of a purebred google device. That's not the first app that was refused entry and won't be the last on that one. It's half crippled. That app was the original one I downloaded in NY with a clean tablet and no Google accounts known on it, yet. Once I installed my google email account I was locked out of the app again, even while in NY. I switched over to another Android 4.4.2 device and the amazon alexa app just doesn't show any device control pages and only The device/group/scene lists. There are no Echoes/Dots in any of the lists. Only ISY known devices. The Alexa app is the latest version also. This isn't the first time this has happened where Amazon releases permissions to my area months after everybody else. Postal code permission and Canadian address permission only showed up a week ago. Seems I will just have to wait for some time. I don't have that many rooms involved yet anyway so "Turn On Bedroom light" or "Turn on Red Bedroom Lights" is not bad for now.

Welcome to the forums!! I assume you must be using the ISY Network Resources module to attempt this. Are your individual (or any) devices working using the same technique? -
For some Canadians....this may not be possible yet as there is no Amazon devices you can link into groups...stand by. (I don't have Join-In available yet either)

I have none of those screens found on an apple, but I am running v1.24.3096.0, wherever it came from. Matter of fact I cannot operate devices from the Android app at all. There is no page like that, just a list of devices with their Insteon addresses.

Canadian Play store? I didn't know there was such a thing. Is this an auto-switch thing or do I have to change over to it?
-
Interesting! "Switch On/Off" works perfectly for Echo Dots also. It seems like only On/Off count here as "Switch" was never mentioned before. Maybe it is reading ISY's mind?
