  1. Definiitely running v3 and all that was followed. I a running the Alexa webpage app on a linux Chromium, windows 7 IE , windows 10 IE, and also android app. No icons or Alexa appliances available for grouping. It should be noted that on the bigger screen computers there is no app to be had and the webpages know I am in Canada. As per Stu I will have to go back ad check my Android app again. Thanks!
  2. Are we all talking the same skill here? I have v3 installed, forgot and rediscovered all my devices several times. This sounds like it is confused with an Insteon group procedure. I have no Alexa devices that can be selected in the Amazon app or ISY Admin Console and I have no light bulb icons (no icons whatsoever anywhere) in the Alexa app either? My Echoes and Dots are not selectable smart home devices, according to the lists, to be selected for inclusion in a group. Where are the Amazon devices being found? BTW:There is going to be much confusion in the future because any ISY element that is not a device is found under the "Scene" tab. I don't use many scenes but all my links to programs are labelled as scenes too. Now we have Zwave scenes, groups, Insteon scenes, ISY scenes, and Alexa scenes and groups.
  3. AI at it's finest! Don't ever let google find out you automated your toilets! They will be flushing them just before you get home every time, so they are fresh when you get there! LOL
  4. My apologees! This thread is about the limitations of open / close vocals.
  5. I haven't noticed any difference between v2 and v3 so I dont understand the fuss r any of the benefits either. Multiple rooms still require multiple accounts and no accounts links can be changed that I can find. I don't believe I use any scenes directly but only devices and programs. Many programs control scenes, some via variable value changes. Program Offs work just fine in the "Else" sections so that the vocal syntax works out properly eg: .....Alexa..turn off ALL LIGHTS. works fine in the program Else section, turning on my Off scene.

  7. Motion sensor do communicate on the Insteon network. That is how they interact with other devices and ISY bi-bidirectionally, for almost every signal. When the MS sends out an On (= motion detected) another device sends back an ACK . When ISY sets up parameters the MS receives the settings and memorises them.
  8. I have shopped through this skill, for hours now, and I see no way to connect to any other account than Amazon. Every account setting is the account name and password for Amazon, not what webpage. I have disabled the account completely and re-enabled it, as well as poked every instance I can find of account names in each device and the master skill setup. The URL or location is never an option. I'm lost.
  9. All smart thermostats have this problem, more or less. The stat companies do not like to admit it, though. They all have some problem and until the electronics become more micro powered or as many have done now, offered remote sensors to get the sensing away from the heavy heat generating electronics. When you open up any stat from a company with more than a toy manufacturer experience, you will see reflective foil, and/or insulation used in an attempt to isolate the sensor from the electronics. Some stat companies have tried to compensate for the electronics heat generated by offsetting (mis-calibrating) the readings from the sensor. This works until a slight breeze comes along and takes the residual electronics heat from the sensor away. What you get now, is a differential On/Off of 4, 5, 8 degrees creating waves of heat and cold in the heated area of the stat. When the furnace runs the stat "feels" the fan draught, cooling the sensor, and the furnace runs too long, making any differential setting inside the stat a complete waste of setting menu programming. I have experienced this on about 4 brands of stats now. BTW:Never go by the displayed temperature on the stat front. The sensor reflects the compensated temperature the electronics goes by and can be many degrees off of a good accurate sensor (only) placed beside it at the same distance from the wall. Every brand does this out of the four I have installed in the last two years.... Honeywell, Venstar, Tekmar commercial. Insteon? I never look at the two I have anymore....mostly toys only good for emergency heat, ISY input metering, humidity but never home comfort without needing a sweater on and off 3-4 times per day.
  10. In v3 the devices are divided up into groups of style of devices. Look in the other groups. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk
  11. I know this easy to do in v5 but I am not sure if v4 had a level set to a variable value option. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk
  12. Read post #4 If jumper 5 is on then all settings can be done in the ISY admin console. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk
  13. Your "Normal" program triggers are disabled. BTW: You could place that code in the Else section of the first program unless there is a hysteresis element by time delay or by temperature difference, effectively giving three states instead of two.

  15. Fred. For what I am thinking you are trying to accomplish and IF you have v5.0.10....we told you incorrectly in the logic of the first few suggestions. You could set a variable at the desired stat setpoint. Then in program logic set a condition NOT equal to that setpoint variable. Now you shouldn't get the program retriggering every time the stat setpoint gets reset back to what you want. This could be done with a separate program for each temperature and enabled for which is desired, if not v5.x You would have to watch out for your Else section, and not use it. If ....stat.temp is NOT $setpoint Then ....set it to the $setpoint again Else ....this is going to trigger after correction each time = avoid coding here. Now Then section (correcting it) will run ONLY when the stat doesn't match the $setpoint variable.
  16. You assume incorrectly AFAIC. Sometimes people, knowledgeable about you subject matter, just dont see your post. Most here would like to help you and I have never noticed any negatives from your nickname. This may jog more people to see it. Sent from my SGH-I257M using Tapatalk

  18. Yawn.
  19. Many want a thermostat that is hard wired to the load for reliability with no wireless anything. However cloud monitoring or minor adjustments via the cloud are fine as along as the basic operation is hard wired.
  20. I just had the same thing with one of five I just "rebuilt". After a power cycle and a closer to the router retry, it linked together OK and now is working well at a larger distance on 5GHz. It seems if certain parts fail the Dot gets hung and only a cold boot will release it from the hang. The only thing I can see of benefit is local weather is available. Of course amazon needs this so you can accidentally enable ordering features and have toilet paper arrive at your door for $40 shipping fees.
  21. Some assumptions are made in the setup that you are on a mobile phone that will automatically reconnect to your house WiFi SSID after the Echo SSID disapears. On my RPi this does NOT happen and I have to manually change the SSID connected to, back and forth while setting these up. I connected my units and ISY Portal to my Canadian Account. What a mess! Turns out amazon.ca and amazon.com accounts are the same accounts and share your shipping addresses. If you have a "default" American shipping address this will never work from a Canadian IP address. I found that selecting English (Canadian) will not allow it to work either and had to return to English (American). Since spokens are used their should not be any real difference. ecobee4 amazon account change is done in the ecobee web app, not on the stat. I spent a lot of time trying to find this. I had to star over with every Amazon device and re-programme them setting up WiFi, geographic addresses individually, and metric selections. All working fine now. I will likely experiment more with switching over to English (Canadian) later. So far V3 seems a lot faster to switch devices on/off even though a delay of up to about 1 seconds is often found before I get the Amazon "OK". Priority of process seems to be given to getting the job done now. Better!
  22. MY IP address was in NY when that happened. The only thing that ever identified me as a Canadian was my google account, when installed on a virgin computer. Once I removed my google account. the Alexa app was accessible again. New: I just attempted to access the V3 skill in the amazon alexa app. Not happening! I get a warning that my language does not match my account. Click continue to correct it to English (Canada). When Continue is clicked, it jumps to the Smart Home page and there is no way to access ANY skills now. Amazon just locked me out of my amazon account access and all further skills I guess Gary's clue will need to be followed (thanks). I will have to open a Canadian amazon.ca account and try it. After all, these cloud services are only about selling people something anyway.
  23. When I first bought my Dots and picked them up in NY I registered and account with amazon.com at the address I was staying at. Despite all this I was not allowed to download the app period as a Canadian. How did they know? I went out and bought a brand new tablet for $200 with absolutely no google accounts on it yet and it allowed me to access the app download. Once I installed my google email account into the new tablet email program I was barred access to the Alexa app again with a warning for Canadians. Amazon was able to access information in my google.com email account and determine I was a Canadian. I originally thought they were accessing my google cookies but I can't see how a cookie could contain my home address location, and give it out just for asking. Conclusion: Google and Amazon were in bed for the initial Alexa programming. The whole voice thing wreaks of google design, being so far ahead in AI anyway. Amazon was lucky to produce a store website.
  24. Many, many of us are Canadians here. Many of us use Alexa with the ISY portal.
  25. Maybe I am a causality of the cloud style service through too many bottlenecks from Ca to Ca.
