  1. @Roman What Firmware are you using? If updated as @Michel Kohanim suggests then the wiki suggests - "For timeout, use 1000 at the minimum. If you are using TLS increase it to 5000 (or more)". And if you're using Gmail it should be at 5000 (min). https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY994:Configure_Mail_Server_Settings Things to make sure you've adjusted are the SMTP port (try 587), make sure you're using your full email address for the "user ID", and if you have 2 factor authentication activated with the email account you're using make sure you have an App Specific password. If you need help further let us know what you're using to try to send emails.
  2. @jpoje, "back in the day" I would send you to the dslreports.com site, but it's not what it used to be for help. Now I might suggest starting at https://portforward.com/ for generic help/discussion type pages. When in doubt just Google port forwarding and start reading. I think even Tom's Guide might be a place to read up more, but it's too commercial for me (sometimes). If you're not needing to access the ISY from outside the network then you don't need port forwarding. While most will say it's not risky it does open up a hole to the network. You rely on the hope that ISY is protected by a password a little more difficult to guess (at least make it harder than the default). I second @lilyoyo1about getting a portal subscription so you don't have to port forward (if you're not comfortable with setting it up). For the cost ($20 for 2 years) it's a low cost option and gives full function with Alexa (yes, with minimal setup, but it's straight forward if you read the steps outlined in the Alexa (or Google Home) forum), as well as giving you remote access without port forward, and abilities associated with the old Network Module. I'm in the same boat as you though with the "ain't broke, don't fix" (just as @MrBill). Just glad you're operational again! Take care and good luck on the research for port information.
  3. @jpoje Glad you're back in business! Sucks when it's a simple thing like the cable being bad/damaged. But that's a simple fix and glad you got it back online! Always glad to be able to help in the process. Take care!
  4. @jpoje, If you can access the ISY through Mobilinc then it's on the network. If the lights are still flashing, but you can reach it with an app then you've got other issues and should open a ticket with UD Support. Are you able to access the ISY through a computer and admin console? Maybe check that everything is loading up right in there. It just seems odd to be able to access the ISY via an app and have blinking lights that might indicate a network issue. Maybe others have further steps to take, but I'd send off an email to UD Support and let them walk you through some troubleshooting.
  5. @jpoje, Have you been able to get into the admin console since you updated to 5.x? If so then it very well could be the new camera or anything on your network if you're not using IP Reservations in the router. Of you have a lot of devices and the router just cannot give out enough addresses (this is typically a problem when people have computers, smart TVs, mobile devices, and switches or plugs that don't require a hub - some internet provider supplied equipment are arriving with limited number of devices able to connect so the available IP range is very low.) Are you using the Launcher to try to access the admin console? Does the finder not find anything if you're local to the ISY? (i.e. you're on the same network the finder should search and find it if the ISY has a valid IP on the same subnet). Check your Router if you see the ISY listed in the IP table. Now, what kind of router do you have? If you're good with tech you know how to log in and check the IP table (attached devices). You should be able to find the ISY MAC address and associated IP address. Then try to connect the finder directly to that IP and see if you can access it. My next suggestion would be to try to turn off as many network devices as you can and reboot the PLM and ISY to see if it's able to reattach to the network correctly. If that helps then you know you've got an IP conflict somewhere. If still unable to get things to work out then open a case with UD Support (support@universal-devices.com) and see if they can troubleshoot a little more detailed.
  6. @andrew77 sorry for the delayed reply. Wasn't following the topic so didn't know you replied. My thought was to reset the password for the account just to be sure you've got it accurate. Now that you've activated two factor authentication you need to have "App Specific" passwords that would be used by the ISY to send mail. Read here to learn more about that process: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en You will get to a part of the screen that looks like this: When you click on "select device" use "Other (Custom Name)" and you can type ISY or other identifier in there so you know what is using that app password. You don't have to type ISY as it will still work without it, but it's good to know what's using the app specific password in case you later want to delete only that password and generate a new app specific password. Once the password is generated for that account then you'll want to copy the password and setup the mail server for Gmail settings with the user name being the full gmail address (user@gmail.com) and the password being the app specific pass you just generated. Be sure you check out the WIKI for tips on setting up the gmail account - https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY994:Configure_Mail_Server_Settings#Configuring_gmail_Account One additional tip I would suggest - in the "From" address use the format "name:user@gmail.com" (without the quotes) and possibly use a unique name for that so that you indeed know it's coming from your ISY. (For me I have it as "ISY Alert:user@gmail.com") So I then filter all emails from that on the receiving side so it doesn't get flagged for spam or put in the "important" email, but I still receive it as a normal email on my mobile devices. Hope this helps some more and gets you up and running if you use the Gmail server. However, if you updated to 4.9 did you go back to the "use default" setting and did it work? If not, you should open a support case. But, better option would be not relying on their server and use Gmail or other email sever.
  7. Have you replaced any network equipment lately? It's possibly a network issue. (but looks like the link on the reply in that thread doesn't exist so go here - https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#Front_Panel_LEDs.2FLights) Other steps will require additional information: What Firmware are you using? What's your UI (launcher)? Have you checked that your SD card is properly seated? When you say "fairly new" for latest PLM how "fairly" do you mean? Weeks, Months, Years? Has it been working since the last PLM replacement? Do you have ISY Portal subscription? If so, is it showing the ISY online? You could attempt to reach the AC through the portal URL and reset any network settings on the ISY that way (in case you have the ISY set to static IP and there's suddenly a new router or new network gear that's trying to take the same IP address). Make sure you set the ISY to Automatic DHCP and then handle the static IP address from the router just in case you change routers in the future this will allow you to plug and play the ISY into a new network setup. Report back if not a network issue with answers to questions above. Good luck!
  8. Two things... 1 - upgrade to 4.9 (https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/31907-release-49-is-now-official/) - That updated the default mail server security settings so should be a little more reliable now. It's automatic update since you're on 4.8. Be sure you're using the launcher too so that FW/UI match after update. 2 - even though you allow less secure apps on Gmail do you have 2FA (two factor authentication - or as Google calls it "2-Step Verification") enabled? If so, do you have an app specific password for the ISY (https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en)? I've used gmail from the start and am on 4.9 and do not have any issues. I'm sending to another gmail account to hopefully not get spam filtered. If you're going off gmail you might be getting filtered too, but if you're having issues simply sending the message then you might need to reset the login and go the extra step of setting up the 2FA and setting an app specific password. With Gmail (and any free email provider) I would strongly suggest you using a "disposable" account to SEND the notifications. I wouldn't make it part of any primary email you use just to keep the login separate and also to keep the amount of email from any primary account strictly personal and not automation notification that might get the address blacklisted by other ISP/Mail servers.
  9. @Larry Lovering - While the process above will get you there if you don't want to factory reset the ISY and you have an ISY Portal subscription you could access it via the ISY Portal URL using the ISY Launcher and access the admin console to make the change on the setup tab to a new static IP in the new network or allow it to se to automatically get IP (DHCP) and then handle it with DHCP reservation in the router. It never fails that more often than not you might not have a "good backup" or "recent" backup and you might miss something. Make sure you clear java cache and get the ISY Launcher (found here) then find your "Admin Console URL" on the ISY portal site and log in with your ISY portal credentials. Then go to the configuration tab and change network settings to "Automatic (DHCP)" and hit SAVE. Then restart the ISY and it should connect to your new network with the new 10.0.x.x. Keep the ISY Portal URL handy if you don't setup port forwarding in the new router so you can access the ISY remotely with any apps or devices you might use to connect to the ISY while away from home. Good luck!
  10. @pmoles how old is the switch you're using? And is it managed or unmanaged? Are you sure you haven't plugged one into a dedicated up link port? I wonder if perhaps the switch has gone bad and not allowing traffic between ports. I'm not familiar with the eero products enough to suggest it might be that. But you said both computer and ISY are plugged into an 8 port switch. Have you attempted to remove the switch and plug the ISY directly into an eero device and use the computer on wifi? Since you can get to something through a web browser/URL have you attempted to telnet into the ISY (https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Telnet_To_Your_ISY)? That might give you help accessing the device differently to check if the switch (or eero) is blocking some traffic or not. Last suggestions is to clear java cache, remove/reinstall java, download new ISY Launcher (https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/24381-isy-launcher/, and attempt that way. You specifically mentioned that there's no PLM installed yet. Why? Not sure if this would cause problems, but wouldn't this cause the ISY to start in safe mode? Should still be able to get into the ISY though, but would think you'd want to have the PLM active unless what you're doing is setting up a new ISY and using an old PLM. Finally...time to open a support ticket with UDI and see if they can help walk you through some other troubleshooting steps. Email - support@universal-devices.com Good luck!
  11. @vmastros, Thanks for the info. Looks like that's a fairly locked down router and one site I found says only able to set wifi password and port forwarding through a phone app. Are you able to log in through a web browser or is it true to only be phone controlled? If anything I'm guessing that if Spectrum is doing this to their customers then they are probably also blocking most common ports to try to "protect" the users since they seem to think customers are not tech savvy. My suggestion would be to get away from ISP supplied equipment and handle your own gear and setup. That is if you're able to handle it and you've got an ISY so you're already ahead of the curve for most people. Since the router is mostly locked down by the ISP your best bet is probably not to use port forwarding, but to go the ISY portal method. Steps found above or through wiki of how to access the ISY while remote with the ISY portal. Also, thanks @Michel Kohanim for clarifying that UD Mobile does NOT need the isy portal subscription. But, I'm sure it would be helpful for those that are unable to port forward due to hardware or ISP limits. Good luck @vmastros!
  12. @vmastros, I second @MrBill's comment about the ISY Portal. For $20 for 2 years it's a steal (~83 cents a month!) for what you get with it and removes the need to port forward for remote access. Plus looks like the new UDI mobile apps (iOS and Android) will need ISY Portal subscription (or at least work better with one). (I mentioned this option in my reply above.) You still never let us know what brand/model router you're using. Or if you're using a Modem/Router combo that is supplied by Spectrum. Lots of people here have experience with a lot of different brands of routers so might be able to help troubleshoot your settings. @MrBill brought up a good point about the external IP being rout-able so that could be an issue as well. Since you don't use remote access often then it might not a big issue, but still wanted to try to help get it to work for those few times you do need it.
  13. @vmastros Any luck getting things sorted out to be able to access the ISY while away from the site?
  14. The Alexa app won't let you create the same group names, but you would be able to use them as room triggers. Make a group for living room and put the reading lamp and the echo in that group and should be able to say "Alexa, turn lamp/light on". Do the same for the office. Depends if you have other lights setup in the group already. You could possibly change the type to a plug and control it differently or give it a custom group name to help you finetune what trigger you can use. Maybe @bmercier can help confirm if this is possible or steps to do it differently with ISY and Alexa App setup. Trial and error never hurts though.
  15. @carealtor, we have had the Ring Pro about 4 years now. We use the Ring Chime Pro to help with the wifi connection and also gives us the indoor sounding of the doorbell rather than having the old mechanical doorbell sound. That's one thing I did like about the Ring Pro that you could continue to use the indoor hardware if you wanted to, but we decided not to keep it ringing when somebody comes to the door. The Ring Chime Pro can also "make noise" when there's motion, but that get really annoying so we have turned that "feature" off. Since Covid I have been working from home more and have dual monitor setup, but haven't considered a Windows app option. I think there is/was a Windows App, but it's not getting updates. I usually have my phone handy or even my ipad handy (open and propped up for video calls) while I'm working. Those devices now get rich notifications (might be product specific) that will send a snapshot when you get the motion/ring alert. I'm not usually too worried about the motion alerts, but want to know who is ringing the doorbell. I tried IFTTT hooks in the past to make the ISY do something with the lights, but the delay of the webhooks were not helpful and the few times there were like 15-20 minute delays between ring and lights flashing I took that off. My family would laugh if there was an Amazon delivery that we already brought in and nearly half hour later the lights would flash. I'd get the usual "oh, guess somebody was here a while back" kind of heckling. Since we usually have a phone with us we get notifications of motion/rings on the mobile devices and don't worry about Echo or ISY interaction with the alerts. There's only so much that I want to hear at once so we are good with just having the phones/tablets give us notifications. One thing that gets fun is having doorbells at our parent's house so having the ability to make different alert sounds for different cameras is key...or just turning off other camera notifications if not as key/important.
  16. @vmastros what is your brand of router? Or are you using a Spectrum supplied Modem/Router product? Sometimes it is difficult to manipulate the devices you rent from the ISP. Additionally, while Spectrum might "confirm" that it's forwarded to 443 they might actually be blocking inbound to their customers at common ports. Try a different port on the WAN side to try it that way. Do you have a UDI Portal subscription? If so then you can use the information from there for the ISY address and bypass port forwarding (sometimes seen as more secure because you're not leaving an open door on your local router). From the Portal page go to Select Tools -> Information -> ISY Information the copy "Admin Console URL" and use that and use your portal login/pass rather than the local ISY direct connection admin/pass. But once you give us some more info about the router you're using perhaps there are some here that have experience with the same router to help correct forwarding rules. Good luck! PS: And go ahead and update to 4.9. I am/was like you in that if it ain't broke don't fix it and was on 4.75 and made the upgrade to 4.8 and then 4.9 without any issues. It won't help your problem, but it will keep you up to date on the current 4.x branch so I would suggest doing at least those updates.
  17. @larryllix I haven't had issues on a regular basis, but I don't use the Alexa commands often. I know there have been some issues if Amazon's cloud service is down and have had some issues with Alexa reporting itself offline randomly with other instructions (i.e. turning a FireTV on or changing inputs on primary TV). I can't say it's specific between Alexa and ISY, but perhaps you're unlucky and having the issues when they (Amazon) are having AWS problems.
  18. I'll keep an eye out on this in the future, but I've had 2 different tplink routers and no issues with the ISY. I forget my old model number, but currently been on the Deco 9+ for about 18 months and didn't have any issues going from one to the other and don't have issues accessing the ISY remotely. I know at one point their DDNS service was having issues and don't have the option to use another DDNS service directly in the router so it was a little tricky, but thankfully not having to reboot router or modem my IP has said steady for quite a while. Just my experience wasn't as bad as yours.
  19. I also use a dedicated gmail account for sending alerts. I have a filter setup to move the sent mail to deleted rather than to sent. Just create the filter (screen shots below) with from (dedicated gmail account), to (your receiving address), and maybe a subject, but from/to should be good enough. Then "create filter" the next screen will give you the options of what to do with the message and select "delete it". Deleted emails should go away after 30 days. So you'll always have 30 days worth of sent alerts/notifications.
  20. @MrBill True geofences don't work because of cell tower/wifi, but as you said the phone has to adjust the GPS. In my experience it was an older iOS (I think 10 or 11) and I noticed that Google Maps would think my GPS would bounce if I turned wifi off and connected to a cell tower. At the time my cell provider was having tower issues near the house and I would use a tower further away (with just barely a signal) and so between GPS and data jumping around my location would move about a mile or two away from the house before location would settle to within a few feet of where I actually was. It was strange to see it happen, and would be annoying some evenings when my trigger would happen as though I left/returned the area after midnight. I think iOS 14 is a little quicker with GPS as I don't seem to have as much of a jump when leaving the house...if I watch Google Maps or other Apple Maps when leaving the wifi. It's fun to get geeky at times on GPS and I've tested locations with three different phones just to see how they react. iPhone X, 8, and 12 (mini) all running iOS 14.4.1 somehow must bounce to different towers at the entrance to my neighbor hood and the GPS for all three phones goes different directions for a moment before they settle to the same spot. The issue I see coming sooner or later is that Apple might end up being like Android and continue to move to block more location based apps/services in the background. It's already difficult to make sure they're "always running" in location settings. I hope they don't as many Android users have experienced issues with geofences for several years because of changes to background apps and location settings.
  21. Just to follow up what @MrBill says about auto opening the door...there have been times (few and very far between) that my phone would drop wifi while at home and hit a tower that's just outside my geofence and would trigger programs when it realigns the GPS to being inside the geofence. So the last thing you would want would have that happen while at home, in the middle of the night. Some things just shouldn't be automated...entry/access points are at the top of that list for me. Good luck with your programs. Look intense!
  22. Also received the message recently. I am also overly cautious about messages like this so I don't click on the links in the message, but go to known domain/site directly and check for news/messages and change passwords just to be safe. It's a pain with all the hacking going on these days. I'm glad the message on the site said "Please note that, we do not store any credit card and/or payment information anywhere in our infrastructure." So at least that's one less thing to worry about...today.
  23. There's been issues with Windows Updates, but more than likely you also had a java update. It's always a good idea to clear the Java cache following a java update and then reload the launcher. You should be using the launcher found here (https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/24381-isy-launcher/) Microsoft keeps making it difficult for the java to run, but it's working. Just causes issues many were not expecting when other programs "update" or planned obsolescence. Glad you got it working!
  24. @vspete going back to your original post...have you had success with the phone/watch connecting quicker as expected? I had similar issues with the phone really being slow to connect/refresh all dashboard devices. I hadn't thought too much about it and I don't use the app as much these days, but it appears iOS 14 changed the local handling of direct connection. @InsteonNut made a post that fixed the slowness issue I was having instantly! Now when I open the app while on my LAN the dashboard is instantly updated and when I go to sync with ISY to test it out it updates a ton faster than before I made the change. I apparently did not allow local network access when opening MobiLinc after updating to iOS 14.4, but after making the change things are much smoother and quicker to reply. I am on Firmware 4.9 so don't have 5.x or nodeservers running so can't help with other issues you've posted about, but wanted to say if the original post of sluggish or disconnecting from the ISY while inside the LAN this could be your issue as well.
  25. Above options work for intended option to look for what you're looking for. I would throw out a third option to try: On the main "My Programs" folder right click (or if you're MAC equivalent of Windows right click). Select "Copy Folder to Clipboard". Paste to Notepad (or other text editor (i.e. Word). Then within Notepad (or Word) search for the scene name. This process copies all your programs and will paste all the text for the programs and all devices and options will be searchable.
