  1. As an added note. Some old devices that you're not using any more might have power supplies that would work. Or at the very least if you're using it and you wanted to try a new power supply out you could attempt that before buying something new. Depending on what you have you might be able to find specs for the power supply online. Make sure you check what you're using before blindly plugging something in. It might be an option of testing if you had something handy to assist in further troubleshooting if power supply is indeed bad. Based on the issues you're now describing though it very well could be since it seems to be there sometimes and not there other times.
  2. @andrew77, Here is what UD sells as replacement power supply - https://www.universal-devices.com/product/12v-1a-power-supply/ Since you have an active support ticket trying to help this I would ask Michel in the ticket about the power supply issue and ask if what you're finding would work if you don't buy what UD offers as replacement power supply.
  3. Geddy replied to jwagner010's topic in Amazon Echo
You and me both. Never tried such an interesting thing. That's a neat way to possibly achieve what you're going for. Good luck! Another option might be motion detectors based on where activity starts for the day.
  4. @andrew77 Since you're working with support on this issue I'd reply back to your ticket for further assistance. There isn't much more we could provide here that wouldn't be better supported by UD Support. Sorry. Ultimately, let us know how this gets resolved. Just in case others have this issue down the road.
  5. Geddy replied to jwagner010's topic in Amazon Echo
@jwagner010 I'd setup a "good morning routine" on Alexa. And the first person up tell Alexa good morning and that does what you're trying to do. Not really automatic, but if the kids (and whole family) is used to talking to Alexa that's a simple routine that everybody would use. Using groups could even make it more user/device specific for whichever one activates it first. Then, part of that routine set a variable to not trigger the automations again if somebody else uses the routine not knowing it had already run. I know @asbril uses the HolidaysGoogle node to trigger wake-up routines, but that requires full day events entered into a Google Calendar. That might automate the process some, but not entirely automatic like you're wanting when a simple Alexa alarm goes off. I have known others to use Siri Shortcuts and charging status to activate some automation functions. Those options are endless. But, none quite as simple as "Alexa, set a 6am alarm" and have everything just work. But, after the setup of any of these it should be almost as automatic. Good luck!
  6. Geddy replied to jwagner010's topic in Amazon Echo
My kneejerk reaction is no. Only because the way I see it is the Alexa alarm is contained/confined within the Alexa environment. There's no way I see verbally setting an alarm and having it do something when the alarm goes off works. That would be like me asking Alexa to set a 1pm alarm then turn the light on somewhere. That's not something it can do (yet). Sounds like good feedback/suggestion to give to the Alexa developers though. When you say you can do this through Routines I'm assuming that you have a routine that will just trigger a variable on the ISY. Can that routine set a random alarm time though? (I've never thought of that, and so haven't tried it) Perhaps @bmercier might have additional insight as the resident Alexa guru. Makes me wonder what you're trying to achieve though.
  7. @lilyoyo1 and @apostolakisl, I think @FBoucher has enough information about how to answer the original question. Let's keep the rest of the chatter a little more on point. Thanks!
  8. @raymondjiii there was also some length discussions and additional information given in a recent topic found here - Either way, yes, it can be done as you are considering. Yes, you can turn the buttons to not toggle so if it's on you can hit it again and it won't turn off (although most don't do this...I think). If you set the buttons to toggle you can get away with only using 3 buttons. Most have considered: A = High B = Medium C = Low D = Off (or unused) On/Off are setup to control the light portion of the fanlinc. I set my KPL and Fanlinc up when I was on Firmware 4.x and it still works in 5.4.3 so I have not made the adjustment to the 5.x update that is in the wiki. Although, I also didn't exactly follow the setup in the wiki for 4.x. Please note: "Click on Copy Scene Attributes from..." is no longer available in 5.x so you will need to set each devise setting in the scene you create. Correct...they're using an 8 button keypad C, D, E, F = A, B, C, D of a 6 button keypad. The Wiki is using 3 buttons on the left side of the KPL to control the fan. It would appear that their C, E, G buttons are in toggle mode so when the scene is turned off the fan motor will be in the off state. Because I set mine up maybe 5 or so years ago I think I used some of the old methods. (those posts can be found using Google Site Search) Good luck!
  9. I see mention of 7 presses in the manual found here - https://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2842-222-en.pdf
  10. I've never had to change the (Micro)SD card on the 994i so can't really help you if you missed something. The steps are in the UD Wiki - https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Replacing/Formatting_an_SD_Card Looks like the link you provided is to the ISY Cookbook (also available to download from the UD Wiki).
  11. And now you've got your own sub-forum for help/discussion/feedback... https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/372-kaiterra/
  12. Doesn't appear to be. Since AM/PM is an option then it appears to just be written in 12hr format. I did the same as you to change the clock setting and restarted AC, but programs still had AM/PM option so figure that's just hard coded that way. Glad they already got you sorted out. UD has fantastic support!
  13. I'm sure they'll get you taken care of. Although @Javi posted a process that might help you out...Give it a try. Make sure to pay attention to the last paragraph in the post...if it doesn't work let them know in your ticket so they can do some troubleshooting from their side and possibly change the process some.
  14. Oops! Shouldn't have "factory reset" the Polisy! Just the devices would have been fine. I am not 100% sure, but I'd just go through the activation process again. Do you have a red "x" to the left of the UUID for the Polisy on the ISY Portal? You say it's showing offline (so there is probably a red dot to the right of the UUID - this would be green if it were online). I'd click the "x" to remove it from your account then add it back. That should initiate the signal to the ISY on Polisy to approve from Admin Console (again). If that doesn't fix it then open a ticket with support and they'll get you setup just right.
  15. The cookbook relates mostly to ISY (as a software/service). It just so happened that at the time only the ISY994 was the device it was designed for. ISY994 = Hardware Polisy = Hardware ISY on Polisy = Service/Software (IoP) (simple way of looking at it) The underlying information found in the cookbook still applies to the IoP setup and function. Until there is a major shift in the UI or logic. The wiki is the same way as the cookbook. While even some of the wiki still references the OLD ISY99 and ISY26 the general idea applies to ISY no matter if running ISY994 or ISY on Polisy. Here's some helpful programming tips you should read through that would answer questions you might still have... https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:How-To_Guide#Programs
  16. Found links in the wiki - https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#Instructional_Videos
  17. @borg3814 did you try what @MrBillsaid above? This is also in the wiki: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Polisy:User_Guide#Getting_Your_Free_ISY_Portal_License To activate on Polisy you have to create an account, get the free 30 day trial. Associate the UUID with it and it should push the portal request to the configuration tab for you to approve. Then email sales for the 2 year period adjustment.
  18. Make sure you get the ISY Cookbook. It will have lots of programming information that should help. 1) programs are event based and “run” when the “IF” statement is true. So if you have a program that says to do something at 7pm and have it set for every day then it will “run” the “THEN” line at 7pm. 2) yes, I think. But basically if you have a generic program to turn something off at a time it will turn off then If that time is 1hr after the program turned it on then it will go off. Again, read the cookbook for programming education. There are also some good videos on YouTube to help you learn. 3) the else is used in the false of the IF. basic (because I’m on a tablet rather than a computer) if from sunset to sunrise then turn light on else turn light off This would turn the light on at sunset and turn it off at sunset. Once you learn the programming skills this will be clear. Please start with simple timer programs then work up to more advanced and elaborate programs so you understand what you’re doing. Welcome to the forums and have fun learning ISY/Polisy.
  19. @borg3814 have you approved the portal request on the admin console? If you log into the ISY Portal it’s showing offline? If so then you haven’t fully activated portal for your ISY. Make sure to follow these steps. What device are you using? ISY994 or Polisy (ISY on Polisy) What’s your firmware on the ISY? UD Mobile only supports 5.x line.
  20. Some recently suggested an Ecobee option since there's a node server that could give you ISY options. But that's only from searching the forums. Perhaps others might have more feedback on your request than one from a few months ago.
  21. @Prana electric Congrats on getting things and good luck setting it up! I guess you didn't read through the information provided on your prior post that pretty much gave you everything you'd need to set up and running. Good luck as you learn!
  22. Have you followed the steps through the Wiki for setting up with the portal access? https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=UD_Mobile#Existing_Portal_Users The URL should start with "https://my.isy.io....". It should be auto generated after you log in following the steps in the Wiki. Welcome to the forums. Post back if you're still having issues. Perhaps @Javi (the app developer) might have other steps to attempt.
  23. Yeah, I agree, but it's fun to annoy a teenager. And I'm not the one that has to hear it! LOL!
  24. It saves the file with the addresses you have showing (should save a file with a "*.state" looking file name). If you have both the local and the remote address then there will be two lines. The next time you are remote your finder will probably come up empty. Just hit "load" and find that file and then you'll have the local and remote addresses and be on your way. As I said...this happens. It's not something I've ever tried to figure out how/why it happens. If you'd like to know more then I suggest opening a support ticket and asking them specifically what is happening for your situation. It's not such a big deal for me so I have my processes and keep on trucking. Exactly! That's what I've been saying. The ISY Launcher icon opens up the ISY Finder window. If you're not local then from my experience is that sometimes the Finder just wipes out whatever you've had in the past. I don't know all the details, and haven't cared to dig too deep into it. You appear to want to dig deeper. So I suggest opening a support ticket. So basically, the steps I suggest you use: When local the finder will add the local address. (Uses local credentials to login) Add remote ISY Portal URL (uses ISY Portal credentials to login) Click "Save" (save the file "ISY-Finder.(date+time).state" somewhere you can access quickly - if you save things to the desktop then fine. I prefer keeping the desktop clear so have it in a folder on root of "00-quick" so it's a typically at the top of a view.) Next time you're remote it will probably appear empty on launch. Click "Load" and find/open the file you saved above Use remote URL & ISY Portal credentials to login to IoP while remote. Is it a pain? No (IMO) Does it take < 30 second to fix? Yep! Submit a Ticket: https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Email: support@universal-devices.com PS: If you get a ticket going and @Michel Kohanim tells you the super secret trick of not having the entry clear out be sure to share it with us. It's something I've faced since 4.x and all the time on 5.x. Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. I haven't worried enough about it to really dig too deep.
  25. I feel your pain. Happens to me and I'm not even on a laptop trying to access from both places. I think it's just the nature of remote access. I've never really tried to figure out the rhyme or reason to it, but I just figure that it's still trying to locate the ISY locally while you're remote. When it doesn't find it then it just wipes out what you've got. It's simple to just hit "save", then save the file locally (in an easy to access area), then hit load when it comes up empty and you're ready to rock and roll. No need to go out to the ISY Portal and copy/paste again.
