“All in jest and satire - sort of - but also pointing out that the LA area is particularly affected by recent natural and unnatural phenomena, so cut them some slack.”

No shit. Cut them some slack

All in fun guys.  Just passing time.  Don’t think anyone here is being serious.  I am about 45 min south of those fires so your right it very possible.  Especially since they were just north of the palisades fire I am sure they were affected.  Hope they are all safe.

We all hope they are safe.   Hopefully they are at a point where they can give us a status update.  It would be nice to know whether the rollout is due any day now, has been delayed for many months, cancelled, etc.

A long time friend and mentor have me this phrase:

Price, Quality, Time.... Pick 2.

My ~ 10 years with UDI days it the first 2, and not many (non self inducted) problems as a result.

Plus or minus 90 days, based on the coding world realities.

So used to be my drive.  But so sad that companies are in a stock market race to make their ceo bonuses and boards happier.  So they push their dev teams for price and time.

And let's not forget the groundhog's prognosis.

Oh Jeez. You mean we are going to hear...

'are we almost there yet?'

....'are we almost there yet?'

. . . . . . . .'are we almost there yet?'

over and over?

Reminds me of V5.0.1 :) :)

Here's hoping you don't have to pay a tariff on my Canadian data bits. :) :)

Seriously though, if you're in Canada and looking to buy a eisy, I'd do it now. Sale price at Canadian distributor is ending tomorrow Feb 3rd, and if it gets hit in this tariff war, it could jump up an extra $100.

For me an eisy was too expensive before and now will become unaffordable after.

I'd have to move to my HA platform for good.

The Canadian peso sucks.

Are the tariffs impacting prices in Canada too?  I thought the tariffs were on goods coming into the US?  I am so confused lol.

Tariffs are starting on all sides. I buy my equipment, made in UK or S.E Asia anyway.
Things are not healthy with this trade war somebody started. It's a way for our governments to take money out of our pockets and many happily support it.

Yeah, announced right after the US tariffs.  It's not really clear what will be taxed coming into Canada because you import so much from us that can't be sourced elsewhere (photographic and motion picture film, for instance), but this is really (on the US side anyway) mostly about killing the de minimis loophole that allows Shein and Temu to operate from Canada's free trade zones and skip the pre-existing tariffs on Chinese goods entering the US.  It's a right old mess.

I would hold your horses here.  I suspect you will see a lot of rapid developments in the days and weeks to come.  Most of these tariffs will not last long, some may, but I think most won't.  Deals will be struck.  I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the tariffs stick, just to make examples of somebody, but I doubt it will be Canada.

EDIT:

Speak of the devil.  The Mexico tariff just got settled, at least for a while, but probably long term.
