IoX 6.1.1 let's discuss it!

Featured Replies

If anyone is having issues with eisy-ui not working & eisy being offline, there was an issue with the initial release. The problem was that eisy-ui would not start if there was exactly one plugin installed.

To recover from this, eisy-ui needs to be updated to 1.2.1.

There are 2 ways; With the admin console, or through ssh.

To update using the admin console:

Start the IoX launcher, click add, enter https://eisy.local:8443/desc

At the login prompt, use the user admin (default password is admin)

Then go to configuration and click on "Upgrade packages"

To update using ssh:

Open a command prompt and enter these commands;

ssh admin@eisy.local

(Password is admin)

sudo pkg install eisyui

sudo service eisyui restart

Workaround:

It is possible to fix this problem without updating.

Go to PG3x at https://eisy.local:3000

Login using admin/admin

You should have exactly one plugin. Just install any free plugin. eisy-ui should start and within one minute.

Upgrade went well, took about 10 min. Admin console comes up ok (after clearing cache and data). I have the same issue in EISY UI "Nearly every program in eisy-ui displayed “Error loading data, mostly in the "Then" lines”, although the same programs worked correctly in Admin Console."

Thanks,

John

Morning all, Update was good, no problems and most of my nodes worked with the exception of all battery devices, needed woken up to finish writing to them, also the sync error with insteon after sycro on my UD Mobile.

Now for the question, i was in the New Ui and could not find how to query the set parameters on my Zwave devices, the only options are set and send, How do you tell what the parameter is set to if you cant query it for verification?

what happened to all the Options to set for the Insteon Devices, could not find them also.

Im new to the UI and just learning but still having trouble navigating to something that used to be there with the administration console.

are they finished with the design or is it still in progress?

thanks to you all.

I, along with chatGPT, found and fixed my issue, the eisy-ui is now running, the PG3 dashboard is now also looking good, and the online connection is green too.

It seems there is a bug in the "pluginConnections.js" file. If you have MORE THAN 1 plug-in installed, it will work fine. If your have 0 or 1, it will fail.
"If so, eisy-ui 1.2.0 has a clear empty-list programming bug: this line assumes connection always exists:" on line 27.

ChatGPT supplied a fix, I installed and ran it. All good now.

This is also fixed in eisy-ui 1.2.1

The raw method is to ssh into it and do:

umame -a

Otherwise it should appear in the sysconfig.txt file that is accessible as shown in the release announcement

In eisy-ui, you can also go to the System | About page, or the System | Boot environment.

It is still in progress.

The major feature of this release is program edit.

In the next release, you will have the ability to add devices. It will have most of it not all configuration options related to Insteon/Z-Wave/Zigbee, and at that point, it will be very close to be on par with the Admin Console.

Polisy was never touted to be the same hardware as eisy [ link ]. That would have been literally the most disingenuous thing in the world for us to claim.

The same discount as 994 applies to polisy plus 1 free year of ISY Portal [ link ].

Regarding upgrades, the OS cannot be upgraded to anything above 14.3p5. Matter support remains buggy mostly due to IPv6 dependency. While we're on 14x OS, you can upgrade UD packages (only) via ssh as long as you understand that they have not been tested, and especially due to dramatic increase in processing for eisy-ui, you might not have a good experience.

sudo pkg upgrade udx isy eisyui pg3x

With kind regards,

Michel

Well hey, I just tried exactly that, and it upgraded fine! Thanks for the honest reply. Yes, it's a bit slower but as a testing device, that's small price to pay for the versatility I get from having these test units.

I'm quite active on the forum and many of my posts begin with "I tried this on one of my test Polisys..." It both helps the community, and pushes me to try and learn new things. I have three Polisys that I obtained as used units for a very low cost or free. For sure, a test eisy would be nice, but it's prohibitively expensive here in Canada. I even got my own eisy as a used unit, and used eisys come up rather rarely.

A slower but otherwise functional Polisy makes for a good compromise and a handy test device. Thanks for the workaround. 😊

@Guy Lavoie , thank you for the update, and your continued support. Not only I believe you regarding cost, but we experience the same since memory/storage costs quadrupled since early 2025.

If polisy is working fine, eisy | lite is definitely a better option, as it has a much faster CPU and fully tested with everything especially the plugins.

On another topic which does require 6.1.1 for dynamic profiles, @SteveL has been busy using ChatGPT to make FULL plugins without any coding whatsoever. He literally speaks to ChatGPT, says what plugin he wants, and boom! [ link ]

@Guy Lavoie Thanks for trying. I tried on my Polisy, too, and it didn't appear to do anything, but I didn't know how to check status. Where is this upgrade log file located?

-Tom

@xlurkr Try the manual update, as suggested by @Michel Kohanim himself (a couple of posts up). Worked for me. Join the geriatric Polisy club 😄

Upgraded to IOX 6.1.1

Following log in CMD showed update complete, but could not login to admin gui. I selected my EISY in Admin gui and the login screen would not come up. Rebooted eisy via holding power button on unit. Removed power cord for 30 seconds. Plugged back in and came right up.

Another minor obervation: the release announcement mentions backup and restore of zwave dongles. Just for fun I looked this up on my upgraded test Polisy that has a Zooz 700 series dongle. The dongle works, but the zwave menu hasn't added backup and restore options. Maybe it's a limitation of the dongle itself. If anyone reading this has a 800 series dongle on a 6.1.1 system, have backup and restore options appeared?

After two failed 6.0.5 upgrades and roll backs to 6.0.4, this upgrade was flawless! Was there a also a change in timing? It seems like my light switches respond quicker to my motion sensors especially the Z-wave sensors.

Verdict? Success!!

Took the plunge. About 45 minutes - but checked UD Mobile for firmware and it said reboot needed. So I did, and voila!

Can you run the AC from the Finder Java App? How can I get that option back?

duh...

Yes/No, both Z-Wave/Zigbee libraries went through a redesign so inclusions/interviews will be a little faster. Regarding responding to events, yes, but it should not be noticeable. If it's noticeable to you, then I am quite pleasantly surprised!

With kind regards,
Michel

Speaking of Zigbee libraries, that reminds me of something I brought up a back in March. I have some Zigbee modules that measure power consumption. You had me capture cluster information, and you had ordered a module with the same functionality, for the purposes of implementing the retrieval of the power consumption value. It's a standard cluster in Zigbee 3.0. So I just gave that a try, first doing a re-interview of the module, then an actual delete and add. There is no new information appearing for the module, though it turns on and off just fine. Should this be working? I'm doing this with the ZMatter module.

Can a Zwave backup of the UD Matter dongle be restored to the Zooz 800LR dongle if I'm only using Zwave or do I have to rebuild the Zwave network?

An observation:

While I was patient waiting for the upgrade to occur, it did not appear that a reboot request was pushed to the user (me). I had to find it... (Not a big deal but something I noticed).
