Release 3.3.9 (RC6) Is Now Available
Hello all, I am happy to announce the availability of our 3.3.9 (RC6) release! For a list of changes, please take a look at this post. This is a minor release fixing minor bugs. IMPORTANT If you have not already done so, please upgrade your Java to 1.7.11: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=10409 . Know Issues - None Things to test: - List in 3.3.7 - List in 3.3.8 - 2xx error code returns by a client to Network Resources should not cause an error Important Information 1. Important Brultech module is no longer supported on ISY99 Series. Please contact sales@universal-devices.com for options 2. Important NetBios removed from ISY99 Series. You can no longer access ISY by going to http://isy on Windows 3. Important If you have a 994, you will need to re-install a certificate. Please review ISY994 Series Advanced Network Security Configuration for more information. 4. Important We have removed SSLv2 support (very insecure) from ISY99/ISY994. Unfortunately, the only protocol supported by MAC with Java 1.6 is SSLv2. As such, you MUST upgrade your MAC to Java 1.7.11 (Software Update) 4. Please note that Safari does not support SSL session reuse and thus might take an exorbitant amount of time to communicate with ISY. As such, when using 2048 bit SSL, it's best not to use Safari. 5. If you are using the Irrigation Module and are upgrading from releases prior to 3.1.5, you must edit the programs using Irrigation variables and save the programs again. Irrigation module is no longer on promotion 6. Upgrading from 3.1.3 and below: If you are using WeatherBug Module's Rain Today in your programs, please note that the precision has changed from 1/10 to 1/100 and thus your programs might not run properly 7. For a discussion of variables, please look at our Program Variables forum. Instructions: 1. Please backup your ISY (File | Backup ISY). If you are backing up a 3.1.6 system, please note that the backups are corrupted. If you have a backup from prior releases, you should be OK 2. Please download the firmware for your platform - please do not unzip ISY 99i Series ISY 994i Series ISY 994i Z & ZS Series 3. Login to the Admin Console and choose Help | Manually Upgrade [the name of your system] 4. Choose the file saved in step 2 5. After the upgrade, ISY reboots. Please do ensure to clear your Java Cache 6. IMPORTANT Once upgrade is completed and ISY reboots, use any of the following methods to access your ISY's Admin Console: a. Enable Java Plugin: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/di ... rowser.xml b. http://your.isy.ip.address/admin.jnlp - Java application c. http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.9/admin.jnlp d. Disable Java Plugin: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/di ... rowser.xml Please note that both methods above should install an icon on our desktop which should be used instead of using a browser to access ISY. Dashboard - http://isy.universal-devices.com/99i/3. ... board.jnlp 8. Please backup your system again Thanks and with kind regards, Michel

Network Resource Problem
Hello everyone, Finally managed to recreate this issue. The problem is that the default certificate that comes with ISY cannot be parsed by ISY!!! (i.e. in this case, ISY is both the client and the server). This is a 994 issue with firmware above 3.2.6. In addition, there's a bug in BouncyCastle whereby invalid certificates can indeed be generated. Put a workaround so, please go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3. ... board.jnlp and regenerate your certificate. Default certificate has also been updated so, in case you don't want to touch your configuration, you can simply upgrade to 3.3.9 to be out very shortly. With kind regards, Michel

Java and the Admin Console
Yes we have but each one has its own issues. Currently the only cross platform solution is Javascript but that requires websockets support which is not trivial. With kind regards, Michel

Network Resource Problem
Hello wrj0, Thank you. 140002 means: Connection timeout (http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... r_Messages ). You might want to try increasing the timeout. But, I think something else is blocking ISY from connecting to your server. With kind regards, Michel

Release 3.3.8 (RC5) Is Now Available
johncrab, Got it. Thank you. With kind regards, Michel

Admin console on ipad?
It is not. We have been contemplating moving everything to javascript but a) haven't found an expert yet that we can trust and it's a major change requiring a fundamental change in ISY to support websockets otherwise you cannot have realtime feedback. With kind regards, Michel

java. android. the dashboard. admin console and a tablet
Hello arw01, You really cannot. Android has it's own Java branch in which some of the UI components are removed and some classes are implemented differently. With kind regards, Michel

cant communicate with switch
Hi grossmd, Two questions: 1. How do you know that it's half way and not all the way? 2. Why would you want to restore your device? i.e. what are the symptoms? With kind regards, Michel

Release 3.3.8 (RC5) Is Now Available
Hi johncrab, arw01 is 100% correct. I missed the 'i' in 99i ... it has been corrected. I am not sure if Apple can shut anything down remotely unless you install an update of some sort (of which I am not yet aware). If they can indeed shut down Java remotely on your computer, then I would consider that even more of a threat (and privacy) issue than Java itself. Can you tell me exactly what problem you are having? With kind regards, Michel

Network Resource Problem
Hello wrj0, You can try Wireshark but since the traffic is between ISY and the network resource, I am not sure how much traffic you can capture. The most important thing is to see what you get back. What you can try is: 1. Clear your Error Log 2. Go to Event Viewer, change the level to 3, run the test 3. Copy/paste the contents of the error log and Event Viewer With kind regards, Michel

Network Resource Problem
Hello wrj0, It's quite possible that the server is returning 2xx and ISY considers it a failure since it's not 200. This is a bug in ISY: it has to consider anything in the 200 range as success. With kind regards, Michel

Isy Finder
Hi John, You are not using the correct UI files. Please note that there's a Java security issue (viewtopic.php?f=44&t=10409) and I strongly advise you to use the application (ISY Finder). As annoying as it might seem to you, it's currently the safest method. With kind regards, Michel

In the market for tstat, have a 994iZ. Go w/ Insteon or RCS
Hello ellesshoo, I really cannot recommend one over the other. What I can tell you though is that RCS Zigbee Thermostats are great for commercial venues/3 Phase installations where INSTEON has problems. Apart from that, yes, you should use whichever you like. With kind regards, Michel

Isy Finder
Hi John, I am not sure what you mean by getting it to stop. What are you trying to stop? What happens if you go to http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/3.3.8 ... this uses the applet. I want to see whether or not the applet finds ISY. And, finally, we used to require 1.6 (1.6+) but have moved to 1.7 in 3.3.8. If you wish, you can upgrade to 3.3.8. With kind regards, Michel

Problem with new install
Hello John, No problem at all. I take these questions/comments as opportunities to make ISY better. With kind regards, Michel

New micro modules on Smarthome website
Hello arw01, I do not know much about them except that we did implement support for them in 3.3.7. So, you should be able to use and program them. The only problem was that we could not do extensive testing on the properties (latching, etc.) since it required devices that we didn't have. With kind regards, Michel

Programs in Console Disappeared!?
Hello thomastran, Sincere apologies for tardy reply. I think it would be much quicker if you called our tech support team (links below) so that you don't have to keep waiting for a post to this topic. At the moment, I am thinking that perhaps your programs are indeed gone. Did you ever restore an ISY backup from 2.7.0 release? With kind regards, Michel
