  1. You may want to wait for an official reply for a ISY994i. The ISY99i information says 5V to 30V DC. 300 mA. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Quick_Start_Guide#Requirements The current rating was updated to 1 amp as the added boards like Z-Wave or ZigBee needed to be taken into account. The one in my ISY994i kit was 5V, 1 Amp. 5.5mm X 2.1mm, center +, DC connector.
  2. If your old setup used a 2412S it did supply power to the ISY Interface. No external one was needed. The 2413S does not supply power to the ISY Interface. If it is a new one, there should have been a power supply in the ISY Interfaces box.

    Can't do much about the battery operated devices. If they didn't go into power saving mode. The battery life would be real short. If you have any Insteon modules that are old enough to only do the original I1 messaging. They can take for ever to update the link database in the module. With memory peeks and pokes.

  5. Only the old discontinued for many years now 2412S supplied power through the serial cable. Users that had to replace an old 2412S with a 2413S did have to get the external supply. Are you sure you didn't get the external supply in the box with the ISY994i? The UDI sales site says power supply included. https://www.universal-devices.com/sales/ I took a look at the Smarthome ISY994i offerings. In the What Is Included tab. There is a power supply listed even for the standalone ISY994i with out PLM.
  6. I have seen them adjust the list price on a refurbished LampLinc up by $10.00 then sell it for $15 off. That price. While a brand new one with a 2 year warranty was $5 more than the refurbished LampLinc reduced price. Meaning saving $5 got me a 30 day warranty over a 2 year one.
  7. Don't try a Alert Module for a Beacon test. Maybe changed in present ones. Mine is an early purchase. Mine will work correctly if it is the one doing the tests to other modules. If it is receiving from others doing the tests. The LED does not show correctly When the LED is Green. Modules on both phases flash it Green. When the LED is Red. Modules on both phases flash it Red. To be fair. There was no mention of a Beacon or Communications Test in the manuals I downloaded for it. So it may have been a known issue. At the time I bought mine.
  8. I suspect Home Depot and Amazon stress HUB compatibility as that is what they carry and not the ISY994i line of controllers. Your firmware version and UI should match in version number. You can get the proper UI on the firmware 4.5.1 announcement or get 4.5.3 (RC2) the latest released version. The latest firmware should support all the Insteon devices except a few odd ones. Like the Alert Module.
  9. We have seen a few reports of brand new 2413S PLMs failing in a month or two.
  10. If it worked for two years after changing the caps and is now having issues. I will add my vote for the caps going bad again. Depending on how bad the power supply voltage is. The LED may still be On and it will not function.
  11. If it is completely dead with no LEDs On. I would second the recommendation of checking the wall wart power supply first. On the off chance the ISY994i is completely fried and you get a new one. UDI should be able to transfer most of optional purchased options modules to the new one. By giving them the old uuid for the old one and the uuid of the replacement.

  13. In your original post. You asked about the relay being On or Off when linked to the ISY994i. I don't believe it matters. It does matter if you are doing manual set button linking. I tested a 2450 and a table top mounted KeypadLinc. Spare button A and B. Depending on the relay being on or off when linked. I could have button A turn it on when button A was on and button B turn it off when button B was turned on.
  14. I looked at three 2450 Users Manuals that I had archived. 02/10/11,04/07/11,10/20/14. All three used the same descriptions. I tried a 2450 with Houselinc and a spare 2413S PLM. I could not test On and 0% as I don't believe it allowed such a setting.
  15. UDI and Smartlabs {Manufacturing division that holds the Insteon Patents}. Are two separate independent companies. I think Smartlabs would be responsible for the documentation. Though Smarthome {Sales division} maybe involved with the documentation. I have the older documentation archived and may see it the older ones where clearer.
  16. Well I am a retired Electronic Technician. That did some work for the Electronic Engineers at the very small place I use to work in. Have an FCC General Radio Telephone License and fixed two way radios for awhile. I am familiar with the X10 devices and the loud clunking ratchet switches. I am one of the Community Advisors on the X10 Forums.
  17. WOW. That manual is confusing on pages 4-5. I could not see that information not being clear. Calling the relay open and closed is a poor choice of words and confusing. Relay Off {not activated} and On {Activated} would be a better describe the way the relay outputs work. In electronic terms. The Normally Open and Normally Closed condition are in relay not being activated state. Even if the IOLinc was unplugged. The Normally Closed set of contacts would be connected to each other and the Normally Open would not be connected. The LED on mine is dim when the relay is not activated (off). Normally Closed is closed and Normally Open is open. The LED on mine is bright when the relay is activated (on). Normally Closed it open and Normally Open is closed.

I did a test with five Insteon modules. 2456S3 ApplianceLinc 2450 I/OLinc Early I1 Hardware 2450 I/OLinc I2CS Hardware Firmware v.41 2457D2 LampLinc 2635-222R On/Off Module Added all five to the Administrative Console. Made a Scene called Test. Added all five modules to the Test Scene Set all modules to On 0% in the Test Scene The two 2450 I/OLincs turned Off when the Scene was turned On and On when the scene was turned Off. The other three modules. Stayed Off when the Scene was turned On and stayed Off when the Scene was turned Off. So as you suspected the 2450 I/OLIncs act different than most other modules. I did try using Off in place of the On 0% for the 2450 modules. With the same results.

  20. I have not seen any different components in the V2.1 but it is new enough {still in warranty} that I have not taken it out of the case. To look at the back side of the PCB where many of the power supply parts are mounted. I do have two hardware V1.0 where they had rework on it. Looked like they only had one capacitor on the unregulated 12 volts, not the Pi filter, and had to wire in the second capacitor and coil. To make the Pi filter. All three parts are just hanging off of the PCB. One of the two is pushing it even closer. Had 25 volt capacitors. Unregulated 12 volts is closer to 18.5 volts. That C7 and C13 are the filters. Somewhere in this thread I believe there are a few photos of a V1.0.
  21. Thank you for posting the ESR values from the original capacitors. As I don't have an ESR meter. The values you posted look really terrible. The two 10uF/35V C7 and C13 are on the small switching regulator and should be low ESR. As the regulator runs at at 200kHz. My later hardware revision 2.1PLM. Has 100uF/35V ones in C7 and C13. Though my 2.1 has the same questionable brand capacitors as my older ones. Gee the100uF/35V ones in mine have a bigger sized can. Better to swell up or blow the rubber seal out of the bottom. When they fail.
  22. I have the schematic of the Leviton 6289 part number version of the X10Pro XPNR. A fair amount of electronics in it. It is tuned to the X10 power line frequency of 120KHz {Insteon 131.65KHz is close}. With a signal transformer. Any noise above a Zener diodes break down voltage will clamp the noise, on the secondary side of the transformer. Also has a 470 volt Varistor across the connection wires. To kill high voltage spikes over 470 volts. A Snubber. Is a series capacitor and resistor. In a molded case. Using parts that are certified to be used across an AC power line. They shunt noise spikes from Line back to Neutral. The capacitor can absorb some of the Insteon power line signals depending on it value.
  23. I don't see any received Insteon messages back from the 2450. Just the commands sent to the PLM for writing to the 2450. Is the LED on the side of the 2450 On? Have you tried a power cycle reset on the 2450? Maybe a Factory reset on the 2450 and then a restore device.

  25. Yes the White Trigger wire connected to +12 volts the valve opens. When the White Trigger wire is removed from the +12 volts it closes. The valve is always powered by the +12 volt Red and -12 volt Black. The Green Feedback Common connection is for both the Orange NC and Purple NO signals. Ground on the IO Linc is used for the Sensor Input signal. If the Green Feedback Common is not connected to the IO Linc Ground. The Orange NC or Purple NO signals from the valve will not be seen. What may have not been clear. Is the IO LInc Ground for the Sensor Input and +5 volt output. Are not connected to the IO Linc output relay Common terminal. I was looking at the ASV Connection diagram. The Feedback signals are in reference to a security systems zone connection being used. In the normal valve open position. Status Normal. The Orange NC to Green Feedback Common maybe closed. The Purple NO to Green Feedback Common maybe open. When used with an IO Linc Sensor Input. You may have pick either Purple or Orange to get the results you want to see.
