Failed PLM. Did I use a hammer when a tap would do ?
1) Did you cycle the power to the PLM and then let it reboot? During then test? In case it had locked up. We have seen a PLM get lost and needed a reboot. Though a PLM starting the fail also would sometimes work for a short time. Sounds like you are correct and the original has failed. If you had also rebooted the PLM and eisy during your initial tests. What is the revision number on both PLM's? That may give us some added information.

Starting over with a failed system
No the 2456S3 ApplianceLinc is not dual band. It is the original Insteon relay module and is power line only. Is in the larger case like a PLM and has a pass through outlet on the front. If it is a 2856S3 it would be a Icon version of the original AppliancLinc. The 2635-222 On Off Insteon Module is dual band. The model number is on the back of the module. full 2635-222 manual too big to post here but can be found in the support section of Insteon.com 2456s3_newer.pdf 2635-222qs-en.pdf

The Revision Number on the PLM. Should be an indicator of its firmware and hardware.

Starting over with a failed system
V1.7 is an older PLM and it is possible it is failing. With the capacitor issues we have seen. 1222 could be week 22 of 2012.

Insteon Issues: Am I overreacting?
My ~2006 2476 SwitchLinc Relay switches. Did not use an Air Gap switch and had a convoluted method to do a Factory Reset. I thought (maybe for a short time) there was an Air Gap switch in a 2476S. Yup I also saw In Rush current and some models also a Repetitive Peek current that caused issue. I know some manufacturers with dim able LED bulbs. Gave you a wattage rating to take that into consideration. An 8 watt LED bulb that the manufacturer said use a figure of 80 watts when calculating for the wattage on a switch. We had a user in the X10 forums. With a 5 Amp XPPF Filter and a fluorescent light. Burned up. User said he meter said around 2 Amps but they did not take the peak starting and repetitive peek currents in consideration. That their meter didn't show.

RemoteLinc2: Can It Control Z-Wave Devices?
You can add or remove the RemoteLinc button from a scene but you can't link a Z-Wave device directly to a RemoteLinc button. Try turning the scene on and off with the remote and let the scene control the device. Do other scenes in the remotes buttons work as planed? If so I doubt the remote has communications problems.

My ISY Lost some of its configuration
If the wall wart supply is old. Try a replacement. ISY994i has a wide input voltage range and we have seen wall warts cause all kinds of issues here. I personally had one on an ISY99i and one on a ISY994i go bad.

Insteon Issues: Am I overreacting?
Sounds like the relay contacts welded shut but the armature in the relay was able to click. FCC photos not close enough to is if there is a protective network across the relay contacts. If it shorted that would also cause the issue. Though I thought the air gap switch removed the black load wire completely. Are the LED bulbs rated to be on dimmer switch?

2443-222 Installation
If you replace the photo sensor and only use Insteon to turn it on and off. Use the Line, Load and Neutral to turn the light on and off. Insulate and don't use either Yellow or Purple. The switch would use the Yellow wire for control by the switch. All unused trigger wires are taped off if not used. Some photocell controls used a traic and not a relay. They sometimes had enough leakage off to keep the module on. 2443-x22.pdf

2443-222 Installation
Are you replacing the original switch or using the original switch to trigger the 2443-222 Micro Module? The Yellow (sense 1) and Purple (sense 2) wires are trigger wires. You can trigger the Micro Module with a 120VAC signal from the original switch. If you are replacing the original switch. They are not used and cap them off. If you are using the original switch to trigger it and Insteon control. Connect the Yellow wire to the Load terminal of the switch and keep a Line on the switches Line terminal. Tape off the Purple Wire and then set the 2443-222 to use a trigger on the Yellow (sense 1) wire. In my manual page 5 of 21. Shows the Without Switch diagram and the Latching Switch diagram. Your description sounds like you either are not using a switch or a latching switch originally turning the load on. Purple would get caped off or both Yellow and Purple with no external switch.

Don't count on it working. The BTA12-600SW. Has a 10mA Logic Level trigger. The standard one may not trigger correctly. Higher voltage or amperage rating would probably be fine. The 10mA Logic Level trigger maybe an issue. For the standard part. Mouser has the exact part. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/STMicroelectronics/BTA12-600SWRG?qs=zgJYeb29rD5h9%2F6rjSG6BQ%3D%3D

No connection between my eisy and PLM 2413S with the serial PLM adapter kit.
Can't comment on the color wires. Yes just 3 wires. If yours is working then you got it correct.

Problems after a PLM replacement
Yes both the IRLinc Transmitter or Receiver. Are both power line only. Faded memory here. I believe they where in the drop down list with other unique modules like the motion sensors.

Thank you for checking the parts Id number. I knew it looked familiar. I believe it was in the older Lamplinc modules also. Module may have had a different wattage rating but that may have been differences in the heat sink.

I don't think it was open source. Joe Dada and Smartlabs were extremely protective. I paid for a membership in the Developers Group. With a non disclosure agreement. Then after it abruptly ended most of all the documentation did end up online. They also didn't give UDI all the needed information on some modules. Like the Siren Module. That UDI reversed engineered and got pretty close to working near 100%. No firmware files where evver given out to upgrade your presently owned modules. Though you did need a programmer to mate with the 5 pin programming internal connector. I can not comment on the present company. As I have seen nothing on good or still not giving the needed information.

Since it is dual band and has an RF section in it. You can find it in the FCC Database. Not overly clear but looked like a BTA12600S (cant see a possible letter following what I saw in the internal photos). That would be a TO-220. https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/GenericSearch.cfm Grantee SBP. Rest of the ID number. In this case. 2477D. Search and pick details. You should find internal and external photos. Probably more like other thing like test results and test photos. The parts list and schematics are confidential and you will not be able to find them. Should work with other ID numbers if dual band and have an RF section in them. Just a search of SBP alone should give a list of all modules in the database. Including the never released up dated PLM.

IoX Log Showing Insteon Dimmer Module Constantly Repeating On Off
Just try to duplicate how the old one is wound and taped.

IoX Log Showing Insteon Dimmer Module Constantly Repeating On Off
I have some power strips that also have a AC rated Capacitor across the line and load. They work good to remove power line noise but also absorb Insteon and X10 power line commands. That extension cord. Looks like it has no signal conditioning at all. Turning off load sensing may show something. Capacity of the two conductors or noise absorbed by the coiled cord. Maybe but maybe hard to pin down.

How would you solve for this fan/light control?
You may also want to contact the fan manufacturer and see if they have a wireless remote available.

Replacing PLM 2413s with new PLM 2413s
Openadr was standard in every ISY994i Portal Integration and Networking where purchased added modules. You can no longer purchase them and if you want to transfer it from one to a different one. The end of service post. Seemed to indicate they would do it for $125. I only used the A10/X10 module as an example. I don't know how many here actually have it. Now over on the X10 forums. Where I am a Community Advisor, I have seen some using an ISY99i or ISY994i exclusively for X10.

Replacing PLM 2413s with new PLM 2413s
If the restore from a unit with the A10/X10 to one with out the A10/X10 module. It probably would go through but if the A10/X10 module's features where being used by the old ISY994i. It could cause issues. Though that module was cosmetic and allowed X10 and A10 module to be seen in the console tree. Data on the A10/X10 feature. Just the info. Being available now is over. Since the ISY994i is discontinued a few years ago. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY-994i_Series_INSTEON:Enhanced_A10/X10 We have seen issues with a backup from a PRO on one with no PRO. If the scene and programming information was larger than the standard unit was using. I don't have any thoughts on the. Portal Integration module.

Replacing PLM 2413s with new PLM 2413s
Did a test with my spare ISY994i. Using a backup from my main ISY994i. Spare does not have the Networking Module installed. PRO,A10/X10 are on both. Also no installed Insteon modules in the spare. The backup for the main unit did program the spare. Including the Insteon modules in the main unit. Insteon modules didn't respond to tests as the PLM on the spare has a different six digit ID. The Networking Module did not get installed from the main unit backup. Password from the main unit did transfer to the spare. As did the name of the ISY994i. As my main one was an early one called My Lighting and the spare ISY. I don't think an ISY994i that includes the PRO add on. Would be a problem. As it adds more space for programs and scenes. Control of automatic writes to changes to the system. Going the other way may make a difference if the original with PRO had more programs and scenes in it than one without the PRO.

Polisy Failure?
Yes the Polisy section of the UDI Wiki shows it has serial port. Polisy supports the following PLMs: 2412S and 2413S through the DB9 connector on the back. 2413U and 2448A7 through the USB port on the back. If you have a 2413S (serial), you will need our Serial PLM Kit. My thought are if you want to use the 2413S on a USB port then the adapter is needed. Since that model is supported. Opening a ticket may get more results. https://www.universal-devices.com/contact-us/

Replacing PLM 2413s with new PLM 2413s
The modules are tied to the ISY994i's UUID number. That is different for each ISY994i. If you buy a used one ask the seller exactly what it has in it. You may find a similar set of modules in the replacement. The backup has the scenes, programs and setting in it. I don't believe the backup has the firmware and installed modules. My backup files also have the title with the UUID in it and my second ISY994i has its UUID in the backup's title. I will try a test if I can. To see if a backup from one ISY994i worked on second ISY994i. If both have the same set of modules them.
