  1. UPS units have a power line conditioner in them. That see Insteon and X10 power line signals as noise and absorb the signals. So another possibility is the UPS is absorbing the signals. Fix is the same a FilterLinc on the UPS AC input. I have a FilterLinc on my UPS and the 2413S PLM on the unfiltered outlet on the front.
  2. Are the effected ones new enough to be Dual Band? The original power line only modules will not respond to a 4 tap or communications test. I too think you may have a new noise source or signal sucker. If only a few or many do not follow commands.
  3. We can't update the firmware. Technically the folks at Insteon could. The PLM has two programming connectors. One for the RF controller and the other main controller. Though you need a programmer used for the model controller chip being used and the Source Code and we know that will probably never be made public.
  4. Here is one I found. It is a common issue with the I/OLinc as it was not updated (as far as I know) to remove the All On response. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/42728-garage-door-opens-unexpectedly/page/2/#comment-379116
  5. I have had similar findings with an ISY99i and ISY994i. Bad power supply and flashing power on led.
  6. eiay or a ISY994i? If an ISY994i do you have the PRO model?
  7. I am also using a V572. In my case I used the TW523 port on my XTB-IIR. Jeff's great XTB523 is also well known and works great. Unfortunately WGL has also gone out of business.
  8. Yes like all RF only devices. You have to wake it up first. If you picked with the link management remotelinc2 method. I believe it gives you the method as you try and add it. I believe using the SET button to start it in the linking mode. Full Manual should have given you that. If you had the PRO option. On the top of the administrative console. Would be two added choices. For Automatic updates for RF devices and for Automatic updates for all devises. It also allowed a larger number of devices you could use with the ISY994i. If it didn't come with PRO. You would have to purchase it to add it.
  9. Are you using the Link a Remotelinc2 choice in the Link Management list? That should give you three choices. 8 Scene, 2 Scene and Switch. In your case 8 scene. From the product information we got in the Developers Group. 0 1A 8 Scene US frequency. 0 1B 4 Scene US frequency. 0 1C On Off switch US frequency. The other numbers you are seeing. Are for the older 2443A2xxx remotes and not what you indicated you have. Remember if you have the PRO add on. Make sure you have automatic updates to RF devices enabled. https://cache.insteon.com/documentation/2342-x22-en.pdf
  10. Good to see you found the problem and a way to correct it. Also shows the new PLM also still will receive X10. Coming from an X10 start. Power line noise, phase coupling and signal suckers. Was a common issue for us.
  11. The passive X10 SignaLinc device. That is hard wired between the two Lines? I have seen posts where the capacitor has failed and the coupler is not working. In the 2406H. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/28722-anyone-dissect-a-2406h-phase-coupler/ . The X10 4816H used a 18uH coil and a .1uF capacitor. As there where two. 4816H was the X10 and 2406H was the Insteon X10 signals are close enough to the Insteon signals. Both would usually work fine. You can still find the X10 4816H on sites like Ebay. If IndyMike thinks it would help your X10 issue.
  12. That sounds like the way my 2450 acts when in Momentary Mode. When I did some tests.
  13. 9E has been the standard firmware from back at least to V2.1. Hardware changes did happen. Like changing C7 and C13 to one made for switching power supplies. Serial chip on the serial daughter board to one with a better ESD rating. Now a redesigned serial daughter board. With some added surge protection on the two serial signals. My ISY994I with 9E in the PLM. No problem with sending or receiving X10 and showing in the Event Viewer.
  14. If they changed the X10 commands in firmware. It should have caused a new firmware version number. I don't use an eisy. In an ISY994i. It can be found in the Administrative Console, Diagnostics, PLM Info/Status. Should give you the six digit Insteon ID number, firmware revision (mine is 9E), connected if being used by the controller. I seriously doubt they removed the received X10 message from the PLM to the controller and left the transmit X10 message from the controller to the PLM. If you use the Insteon Forums. You could also ask there. https://forum.insteon.com/forum. Or there own support address https://www.insteon.com/support Over the years. I have seen occasionally an X10 received problem with the PLM. Most times it was the hardware in the PLM having issues.
  15. Thank you for the updates on the All On commands. Still being in some modules. I saw your posts on the Insteon Forums. Lets hope they will correct the removal of that command. I suspect some information was carried over from the old management and just make more with the same firmware.
  16. Your new PLM is a 2413U or a 2413S with their USB to serial adapter? Wired with the special pin outs for the 2413S? Do you have a screen that gives you the firmware version in the PLM by chance? Did you have the optional A10/X10 module add on in the ISY994i? I don't have an eisy but have seen it used the USB interface and didn't use a serial port directly. I don't think Insteon changed anything in the latest 2413 PLM to remove X10 reception.
  17. JV Digital Engineering. Still has their XTB-F15+. 15 Amp filters in limited stock. It is a X10 filter but maybe OK as Insteon and X10 power line signals are not that far from each other frequency wise.
  18. Can't say about the portal. Factory Reset. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Resetting_Your_ISY
  19. The 2450 also uses the same switching power supply chip and poorly chosen capacitor model and capacity. I have seen a 10uF/25V in a V1.0 for C7. A 10uF/50V in a V1.8 and a 220uF/50V in a V2.3. At least in the ones I looked at. I don't know if they ever woke up and used a capacitor made for switching supplies. So after many years of working. It is possible it may eventually get flaky.

    Shooting blanks

New 2413U USB PLM. 2413S Serial PLM with the adapter cable. Possibly from the ISY994i setup. If it is the reused 2413S PLM. How old is it and can you see the revision number on the back sticker?
  21. The 4 tap tests will also test the Access Points. LED flashing patterns will give you. Communicating and if on the same or opposite phase. Patterns will be determined by the Access Points revision. White in V1 or red/green V2. They should also show on any dual band modules LED if they are receiving the access points 4 tap test messages. The 2486 is a power line only keypad. So it will not receive any motion sensor messages as they are Insteon RF commands.
  22. Unless it has been updated. The XPPF maybe rated at 5A but the internal coils get very hot when tested on a 4 amp incandescent bulb. So some care maybe needed. The FilterLinc may still be available. https://shop.insteon.com/products/powerline-noise-filter I sure does sound like the charger is a signal sucker. I have seen other reports of such things having a nice AC rated capacitor across the power lines for internal noise suppression but it also kills power line signals.
  23. If the 2443 Access Point is on the same circuit. It may not matter too much but in the pass through outlet it would definitely help. The former Smarthome recommended a Access Point in the front outlet. For better results as the I/OLinc is a power line only device. One thing to check. On the back of the Access Point look at the revision number. If it is any V2 revision. They are built on the same main board as our 2413S PLM. Subject to the same capacitor issues we see in the 2413S. Chargers and some garage door opener models are known for power line communications issues. Though depends on the charger or opener itself.
  24. I had a similar problem with a siren module. Set it on the main entry but it didn't do what I wanted. Until I set it in the scene it was member of. Too my desired need.
  25. Double check or try a different power supply. They do have a reputation for failing or getting flaky.
