  1. Is the PLM connected to the same circuit as the computing equipment? Computing equipment and UPS units are known to effect power line communications. As a test. Can you power the PLM on an extension cord. To a different circuit and see if anything changes. I have my UPS on a FilterLinc and the PLM in the unfiltered pass through outlet on the front of it. The RF Beacon Tests mentioned should also be done. You did use the ISY Administrative Console to do all the linking and not the manual set button method?

For those who are interested. There is a link posted near the bottom of this Smarthome Forum thread. Indicated by end of today should be active. Is the Insteon HomeKit Knowledge Base http://forum.smarthome.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16789 There is a Press Release on the Insteon HomeKit here. Mostly related to the HUB Pro and the App. http://www.insteon.com/press-kits-store/?tag=2243-222
  3. If you don't have the full users manual for the ISY994i yet. http://www.universal-devices.com/docs/production/ISY%20User%20Guide%204.2.8.pdf Pages 81-82 have information on replacing a SD card. Though you may want to wait for a reply from UDI first.
  4. Smarthome use to sell a battery eliminator. Wall wart for the motion sensors but I didn't see it listed on the sales pages anymore.
  5. From what I have read here recently. The UDI PLM is on hold for now. I have seen one beta user asking about a international HUB based Serial PLM they have. Over in the Insteon Forums. Since Smarthome or Smartlabs very rarely provide advanced information. I would say anyone's guess when or even if it will it go to production.
  6. I also had issues with a V2.1 9E firmware. The 2440 would not be found if next to the PLM. If I moved it far away it was. Then I tried it again far away but with no other Dual Band Devices powered up. Again no access. My thoughts are the latest PLM or firmware. Can use a power line signal to another Dual Band Device for the 2440 but not its own RF processing. Also could be overloaded by the RF signal as other have thought.

I have had two Hardware 2.5 Access Points with problems. Older hardware 1.? ones are on a different base board. One just locked up and needed a power cycle. The other one was dead. Power supply was around four volts on the unregulated 12 volts. Normally closer to 20 volts. They are built on the same base 2413X PCB as the 2413S. Same capacitors issues as the hardware version 1.? 2413S PLM's. Did the capacitor change just like in my PLM and now both have been running again for over a month.

It is not a controller or responder. So what can be monitored? Its not On Off or anything in between. I did try and add mine. Using both the Auto Discover and Manual Linking method. Event Viewer Level 3 did show some communications between PLM and the Range Extender. Maybe Smarthome is pinging it with a message and just seeing if it responds. Event Viewer Level 3 communications with a Range Extender trying to add it. I am not surprised it can't be added. I would suspect it has its own firmware to make it act like a signal repeater and not a lamp module.

You may also find the FCC ID number on it is for a 2457D2 LampLinc. Mine is a 2457D2 Lamplinc board with the dimmer components and output AC connector removed. Maybe different on the newest hardware presently being sold.

You don't have to move the PLM though getting it off the computers circuit to prevent noise and signal absorption. Should be done. Many do find closer to the breaker panel works best for them. In my case. I have a 1626-10 FilterLinc on my UPS that is powering all the computing equipment and the 2413S PLM in its unfiltered front pass through outlet. http://www.smarthome.com/filterlinc-10-amp-plug-in-noise-filter.html
  12. Most of the time I use the ISY Finder but have used Firefox and IE occasionally.
  13. I have seen some references to a beta Insteon Power Line Modem. Built on a HUB chassis. Over on the Insteon Forums. The HUB was able to do 120-240 volts 50/60Hz. Maybe that will be their answer someday.
  14. The 2413S has two Microcontrollers and two programming pad sets. One for the PLM functions and one for the RF Chip control. I believe they both still time from the Zero Crossing. The 915 MHz frequency we use in the US is not legal in the UK. The two frequencies for other parts of the world. Are 869MHz or 921MHz depending on the country. I believe the UK uses 869MHz. So you could also not mix US and UK modules and expect the RF frequencies to be the same.

I had received an email from Smarthome about the introductory price was expiring in five days. Today the new HUB-II price is $79.99 normally $99.99
  16. Specifications are not too clear. Could be the output is controlled by a triac or AC SSR. Even if it is just full On and Off and not a relay
  17. The 2472D is a dimmer and it would not be a good idea to use an old transformer as a fix. Inductive and switching supply wall warts. Are not designed to be on a dimmer circuit. The 2473S is an On Off type and an old transformer should work.
  18. 1. Local Control Sensing current can cause the issues you are seeing. You could temporarily try adding a small incandescent load. Like a 4 watt night light to the output. If things get better. It was the Local Control Sensing current causing the issues. Turning Off the Local Control Sensing in the Insteon Modules setup does not remove the current. The module just ignores the local load cycling off and back on again. 2. I would also agree. The noise from the LED load could cause the problems. Another possibility would be the LED is a signal sucker and absorbed the signals. Many LED devices use a simple AC rated capacitor across the power input. It works to prevent the LED's electronics noise from getting back on to the power lines but also will absorb Insteon and X10 power line signals. A Filterlinc may help if it is noise or signal sucking. By isolating the load from the Insteon device.

Look in the Edit choice on the bottom of the message panel. There should be a delete choice in the Edit drop down. Unless there is a reason a deletion may break the message flow.

The 5 volt output on the 2450 I/OLinc is 10mA. The sounder you are linking to is 1.5 volts at 30mA. It may overload the I/OLInc.
  21. You are using a 2450 I/OLinc? The EZIO2x4 has opto isolated and digital inputs. Connect I1+ or I2+ {Depending on which one you want to use} to the 5 volt connection on the EZIO2x4. Your relay output from the UPS to I1- or I2- and the GND terminal on the EZIO2x4.
  22. I just received a hardware V2.1, Date Code:1505, Firmware 9E, 2413S. I will be doing some tests and evaluations on it this weekend. I am not 100% sure if it is working correctly. The built in communications tests don't work as well. In known good locations other PLMs or Access Points have no issues. Also the LED flashes Red/Green from other modules that started the communications tests. I found the same thing Lee reported in a earlier post. C3,C8 and C11 are the same as the older PLMs and revision 2 and above Access Points. C7 and C13 are now Fujicon RK series 100uF/35v caps. Fujicon RK series capacitors are a general purpose high temperature. Not a low ESR or low impedance type. Usually used on switching supplies. As the output of the small power transformer is 200kHz. I can't find a specifications sheet on the original Samcon capacitors used in them. I don't know if they where for switching supplies either.

I believe this is what you are asking about. Here is the information on the Z-Wave card that can be added to an ISY994i. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Z-Wave:_Ordering/Assembly_Instructions
  24. What is the model number of your PLM? It sounds like you have the 2413U USB PLM. It has the square USB B side connector on it. You need a 2413S that has an RJ45 network style connector on it and uses a serial signal interface. It connects with a network type cable from Port A on the ISY994i to the RJ45 style serial connector on the 2413S PLM. The UDI wiki is a wealth of information along with all the great assistance here. You may want to also look there. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
  25. Is your PLM on the same circuit as the computing equipment or an UPS? Both are common signal problems. I have my UPS and computing equipment on a FilterLinc and the PLM in the unfiltered AC outlet on its front cover. If you start to find problem issues like some TVs. Make sure you unplug the device in question.
