  1. @CoolToys split this out to the Elk node server area as it is a new issue for you. It was hidden in a topic that appeared resolved, but just general chatter.
  2. @oamber not sure if this is new in an updated version of macOS, but see if this topic gives some insight for how to proceed. It seems that macOS doesn't like to allow Java apps from unknown sources. It just needs to be added/approved.
  3. @DualBandAid I’m not sure why it wouldn’t populate if the device has approved the portal. Might need to open a support ticket for help. Check on the Admin Console on the Configuration tab that “Portals” is showing approved. Even though you say it has a green dot on the portal suggesting it is online. It might need to be reset. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets
  4. Exactly, but I think that’s what has caused issues….a reboot doesn’t actually power cycle the device, but more or less stops all services and starts them again. But I’m no programmer and just hypothesizing what is being attempted/done. That’s why when some updates wouldn’t complete a full power cycle was necessary to get the systems started in the correct order again. Reboot basically tells the device to start up fresh. From comments elsewhere it’s basically telling the device to start with the UDX then ISY then PG3 services. I’m sure it’s way more involved, but that’s my simple way of thinking about it. Restart IoX just focuses on that service running on the device. When it was simply an “ISY” device (be it 26, 99, or 994) it restarted the device, but now that the Polisy and eisy have multiple services running then the device needs a “reboot” function and ISY/IoX has a “restart” option. Just like PG3 used to have on the web portion to restart the Polyglot system, but that was removed. To me the reboot is restarting the UDX. Because ISY and Polyglot rely on UDX so much if that gets restarted then the ISY and Polyglot services should be restarted…thus “reboot”. I wouldn’t expect that there would be a simple way to ONLY restart the UDX system. The other services are dependent on it too much to have that core component restart without impacting the other services.
  5. This was something in the early days of Polisy that got added to IoX. I'm not sure if it does anything now, but just hasn't been removed. It's not something I'd push if there's no discussion about it in the forums. Here's a post from @Michel Kohanim about this button. "Reboot" is supposed to reboot the device. Sometimes it works as expected, but sometimes it hangs and doesn't perform a full system reboot and power cycle is needed. "Restart IoX" should just restart the IoX system. It's not used as much as it once was when it was "Restart ISY" on the (old) ISY994 devices. It's probably useful if you're working with support and trying to troubleshoot IoX issues and just want to restart the IoX system, but usually isn't something that many often suggest here. Also, the "Update BIOS" is another button that showed up early in Polisy time that rarely got mentioned and doubtful that it should remain and certainly wouldn't push it unless instructed to do so by support.
  6. @DualBandAid are you clicking on "Select Tool" then "Connectivity" then "Amazon Echo"? From there you should have a window that has this row of menu: Click on Device and there you should have this window: Are you saying this is where nothing shows in "my device"? Make sure you review the wiki for further assistance: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Integration_V3#Instructions_for_Accessing_ISY_Portal
  7. @Blackbird It would be helpful to know what versions PG3 and IoX you're running. Please share those if you can find them. If you can't find the PG3 since you can't log in try this (https://polisy.local:8443/WEB/sysconfig.txt) and look for a Name and Version for PG3. (if polisy.local doesn't work replace with the IP of your Polisy) Are you running PG3 or had you updated to PG3x? If you've updated to PG3x then the user/pass is the same you use for Admin Console local login. If you cannot get logged in here are the button presses to reset the credentials for the Polisy: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Polisy:User_Guide#Reset_Credentials This error is common and is simple replace. You need to clear Java Cache (checking all 3 boxes) then download a new start.jnlp from UDI's site (https://isy.universal-devices.com/start.jnlp). The pop up should be gone after loading a new version of IoX Launcher.
  8. @Javi Thanks for the updates! I can confirm (for me) that the app isn't crashing and geofence events are happening regularly even if the app isn't running or in the background! Well done!
  9. @gweempose correct. Since you're not migrating devices just follow the steps for the portal migration.
  10. @gweempose have fun! Please read the migration steps found in the eisy User Guide in the wiki: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Eisy:User_Guide Read all steps before performing them so you know what to expect and what to do. Migrating the portal is part of this process. You don't want to delete the 994 from the Portal as you will migrate the portal subscription to the new device.
  11. Are you using the new PLM with the old ISY994 setup? Did you follow the "replace modem" method in the wiki? https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Replace_Modem_(PLM) It's not just a plug and play. You have to perform the replace modem process to put the link tables into the new PLM. It's possible something started introducing noise into your system (could be new or even old devices so don't just think "I didn't add anything to the system"). You should try troubleshooting for noise with the working PLM first before blindly replacing it. This wiki area can help troubleshoot for noise: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=INSTEON:_Troubleshooting_Communications_Errors Also, @MrBill had a good post on tracking down noise a couple of years ago that might help. https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/35216-programs-not-working/#comment-330289
  12. @mbking interesting that it's still happening then. I think UDI was hoping the _1 kept that from happening. Would you open a support ticket for this issue and see if they can track what might have happened or use your case as more investigation? Download an error log from your IoX process when you can and include that in the ticket. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets
  13. @mbking even though this was a PG3x update if you were running an earlier version of IoX it also updates through this process. Were you running a 5.6.x version or had you already updated to IoX 5.7.0? The programs disabling is a "known" issue in the 5.7.0 update and UDI is trying to fix. Glad you've fixed it. Just for reference can you go to this link in a browser and report the IoX/ISY Version? https://eisy.local:8443/WEB/sysconfig.txt (If Polisy replace eisy with Polisy or use your device's IP address in place of "eisy.local") Looking for: 5.7.0_1 (or greater...as of now I think only _1 is released)
  14. As @DennisC and @apostolakisl mention there's no good way to have them running together. Insteon devices can only have one controller. So unless you have 2 PLM and put some devices on one system and some on another you wouldn't be able to run both devices to control the Insteon you have currently have in place. That's where the migration comes into play. If you are only running Insteon currently the migration is very straight forward and easy. Quite possibly without issue you wouldn't even know you made the change. So you're not "starting over". You're able to migrate the devices/setup from the ISY994 (as long as you're using firmware 5.3.4), and since you say you don't have any z-wave currently you more than likely are, or could/should be running 5.3.4 on the ISY994. Good luck!
  15. @Excalibur78 good to hear! Maybe a bit extreme, but glad you got it working again.
  16. @Excalibur78 Don't reset anything yet! You've got a few options: Go to the portal and see if there is a green dot next to the ISY. That will indicate that it's at least connected to the network and able to communicate with the portal. Look at the information then ISY Information and use that "Admin Console URL" to add to the IoX Finder window above. Use your portal email and pass to log into the admin console. If you still can't get that to work here's how to reset the password for the ISY994: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Resetting_Your_Userid/Password#ISY-994i_Series I've never attempted this, but guessing this should still work. Be careful though because I think if you hold it too long you could factory reset the device. So proceed with caution. Though, you do have a backup. (Looks like 30 seconds will reset the ISY994 so just don't hold it that long!) NEVER reset the PLM! That has NOTHING to do with logging into the device. If you think you have a PLM issue make sure that it is powered on first before connecting the ISY994 to power. Allowing 60 seconds for the PLM to power on and be stead then powering on the ISY994 watch the lights on the front of it. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Main_Page#Front_Panel_LEDs/Lights If the lights to not behave as expected try replacing the power supply to the ISY994 (specs given in above link). PS: Use the mention or quote a section to get it to notify me of a reply. Mention start with @ then type the name and a list will appear below the text (). Select the screen name (by clicking on it or cursor down and enter on the name) you're wanting to mention and it should turn blue like your name does above.
  17. Thanks for the product and firmware. If you're using IoX Launcher and trying the local URL then either local or cloud option those should both be the local device user (admin) and pass (either "admin" or something you changed it to). If you have it connected to the UD Portal you can use the URL in the Portal information area to get to the admin console and use your portal credentials and it should load/login. I think somebody just commented though that if you log in that way it doesn't give you the option to change the local credentials. I don't have an ISY994 running currently to test it and certainly not one with an active portal account. Is UD Mobile still able to access the device? I've never tried this, but in the admin section of the UD Mobile app it has a "Set Credentials" option to "Set local username and password". That might be an option to reset them to admin/admin then try from the computer. I'm not sure how that works so you might need to run a sync just to be sure it's written back to the ISY994. I don't see anything in the wiki for that in the menu so it's either new and hasn't been detailed or just works as expected and didn't need to be spelled out. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=UD_Mobile#Admin_Tab

    Starting over

@paulbates welcome back! Yeah, a lot has changed in the last several years, but much has remained the same. Make sure you skim through the Wiki User Guide for the eisy for filling in the blanks a little. @lilyoyo1 did a good job with the Q&A around the time the eisy was launching. IoX is just like the old ISY994 (and before that I guess ISY99 and maybe even earlier products, but that's before my time). Java based, using the IoX Launcher. That's been around a while though (2018) so you probably had that before departing the ISY994. I3 devices should be mostly supported now, but I think some report that might still not be 100% integrated, but I guess UDI and Insteon are working out any remaining issues there and will have them fully supported in time. @Javi has been leading the charge on the UDI developed UD Mobile app for both Android and iOS. Z-Wave and Zigbee are now supported with the ZMatter product with Matter still on the horizon. The node servers are major improvements and vast integration option that's really grown over time. You can see the current list of node servers here -> https://polyglot.universal-devices.com/
  19. @Excalibur78 Welcome to the forums. First off, What ISY device do you have? Is this an ISY994 or a newer device, Polisy or eisy? What firmware are you running? How are you attempting to access admin console (IoX Launcher or admin.jnlp)? What computer OS are you using (Windows (what version), macOS, or other?) Beyond that - what did you do that you needed to restore the backup?
  20. Correct, an error happened in the start.jnlp file and was corrected. That’s why downloading a new copy fixes that error. While you might think what you have is “good enough” when UDI suggests downloading a new “start.jnlp” file to correct the issue it’s probably a good idea to do that. Others that had the issue reported it fixed (myself included) with new download. Not sure why you wouldn’t try it to get rid of the annoyance.
  21. For me it's been reliable as long as UD Mobile is at least a background app at the time of crossing. Since I don't use the app often and I usually close all unnecessary apps I'll inadvertently close UD Mobile and will again miss crossings. So just make sure to open the app then leave it running, but doesn't have to be active (at least not for me).

    eISY password reset

@svetter so you got it working? No, it should be blue (at least I thought. Blue means it's on. It shouldn't have any indication of doing anything from the power light. It is all internal. When you held it down until it turned red you forced shutdown/power off. Either way...glad it worked. As for having 2 addresses that was standard for a while, I think the latest IoX Launcher (Start.jnlp) file changed that to look only for the eisy.local address. So you might want to clear your Java cache and download a fresh start.jnlp file from the UDI website (click on "MY ISY"). It doesn't hurt to have 2 addresses in IoX Finder window. They're the same machine. UUID should match as should firmware. It apparently caused several people to ask about it in other posts and some must have opened support tickets about it for UDI to change the file again. My pleasure. Always good to keep an eye on the wiki for tips and tricks.
  23. Perhaps there's just not a fix for this. I know there's been a bump in version from 5.7.0 to 5.7.0_1, but not apparently that wasn't to fix the program issue. Agreed it's a big issue. And either there's not an "easy" fix or just an uncertain reason for causing it. I think the fix was that the programs would disable again on reboot so at least it wasn't happening every time the device restarted as long as you upgraded again.
  24. @johnnyt understand your concerns. Best way to address them would be to contact UDI directly: https://www.universal-devices.com/contact-us/

    eISY password reset

@svetter https://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=Eisy:User_Guide#Multi_Function_Button Looks like 3 button pushing resets for SSH and IoX. give that a try.
