There are two versions of the firmware, one for the PLM and one if you're not using a PLM. The reason it boots up in safe mode is because it's looking for the PLM. You need to Install the Z-wave only version of the firmware. Download firmware - ISY 994i Series including Z-Wave support - ISY 994i ZW, Z, or ZS Series (Z-Wave/Zigbee and/or if you do NOT have a PLM)

When I accessed my eisy I got a popup window saying the eisy was being updated, then everything locked up. I was unable to close any windows. After waiting for a while, I shut down java and then reopened the IoX Launcher. I then did a "update packages". Now when I open the IoX Launcher the eisy is no longer there. I tried a reboot and a factory reset to no avail. When I try to manually add the eisy to the Launcher I get a not found message. Any suggestions?

@ShawnW Just ran some tests with the SmartSwitch 7. All the parameters are configurable. The reporting default for a change in current is 10 minutes. I set the parameter to 3 seconds, it took about 8 seconds for the change in current to display. I assume it's due to the Z-wave lag time. I've attached the manual for switch configuration options. The parameter for current is 1A hex (26 decimal) If your pump only runs for about 5 seconds the switch may not be a viable option for you. Smart Switch 7 US.pdf.pdf

@ShawnW Currently I'm not using the smart switch to monitor current, but I'll run some tests in the next few days and let you know. Generally speaking, I think Zwave has a bit of a lag time compared to Insteon.

When Zwave is migrated over to the polisy or eisy the ZW gets changed to ZY. Not sure why they did it, but I assume it was necessary for the migration process. When some Zwave devices get installed, extra nodes may show up. This is due to manufacturers supporting various hubs. You can just ignore them if you don't need them. Most of us create a folder and place these unused nodes in it to get them out of the way.

@TimWing To reset the PLM to its original factory settings, unplug from wall outlet and wait 10 seconds. Press and hold Set button; while continuing to press and hold, plug back in. A long beep will sound; continue holding Set button until beep stops, then release.

@TimWing If what Geddy suggested doesn't work, then try doing a factory reset on the PLM, then a restore PLM. It's possible that Insteon left some data on the PLM that's interfering with the restore process.

@MrBill By having multiple PLMs on the power line at the same time aren't you at risk of having data collisions in the event that more than one PLM is sending data over the powerline at the same time?

If you bought a new ISY994 and a new PLM, then you can temporarily disconnect your existing PLM which will basically disable your current ISY Then connect the new ISY and PLM and install a new (spare) Insteon device for testing. Be sure to first factory reset the new PLM.

@Papa C In the eisy and the Polisy, the Humidity for the Multisensor 6 appears in a separate node called "Weather Sensor"
-
@firstone The eisy may not support the Zooz dongle. The Zmatter board won't be recognized by the eisy until you click on the migrate button and select one of the 3 options.

Over the air updates (OTA) will most likely come in a future firmware update, as will matter and zigbee support..

@Riggins44 The green icon means there are pending writes. right click on one of the devices with the green icon, then click on write updates. If that clears the green icon then move on to the next one. It's possible that your PLM is starting to fail or that you had a power line event during the night.

@TRI0N You need to clear your Java cache, be sure to check the box "installed programs and applets" and then run the start.jnlp. This will remove your IoX Launcher and install a new version
-
I believe that they had to break off part of the board in order to fit it into the enclosure. If that's the case, then it wouldn't mount properly in the Polisy
-
Right click on the devices with the green marks, then right click on write updates. If the update is successful, the green mark should disappear.
-
Trying to relocate the antennas is not a good idea. Using a USB extension cable or a repeater is the prudent route to take.
-
If you're still. having problems the re-boot, then you should probably open up a support ticket. Some of the earlier Polisy versions required bios and hardware updates.
-
When you click on help, what is your firmware and UI version, they must be the same version. You can also try removing power from the Polisy for a minute then boot it up to see if the "update packages" is now visible.

Need to install Z_WAVE on ISY 994i
Techman replied to hchain's topic in New user? Having trouble? Start here
You can look on ebay for the 500 series dongle, and you can also post in the forum coffee shop, as some of the forum members who have upgraded to the Polisy and the eiisy may have one that they'll sell. Keep in mind that the ISY994 has been discontinued, will soon not be supported, and is replaced by the eisy. -
The Z-wave boards available for the ISY were the 300 or 500 series. Based on your firmware it appears that you have the 300 series board in your ISY. Being that you only have 8 Z-wave devices it would be best to uninstall them from the ISY, then upgrade the ISY to 5.3.4, which doesn't support the 300 series board, prior to migrating to the eisy. Do you also have the Zmatter board and enclosure for the eisy which is required for Z-wave support Be sure to review the detailed migration instructions before you start the process
