  1. Thanks for your input. I'm glad this discussion is getting some visibility. As I noted, I was advised by UDI to list the devices, and avoid putting the multi-way scene itself in the Action list. ... ... In other words, if you want to turn off all the lights in a virtual circuit with 3 lights, you want to have 3 separate Off commands in the list of Actions. You should not take the short-cut of simply setting the scene (that manages the multi-way circuit) to Off. ... I'm not sure who would have said this, or maybe an explanation was misinterpreted somehow; but it is not correct. It is almost always better to use a scene rather than setting devices individually. In fact, the only time I wouldn't use a scene is if I have only a single responder. I wonder if it had to do with ACK's being sent with single commands vs no ACK's sent with scenes? In other words the ISY receives ACK's after it sends a single command so it knows the command was received. But with scenes the ISY assumes all responders received the command (if I understand correctly)?
  2. I used a similar matte self-adhesive material as ergodic used, placed them on the white kpl buttons then sprayed them with a clear coat. After they were dry I popped them back onto the kpl's. They look great. It's been about 8 months and they still look like new, even in heavy use areas.
  3. Hi robandcathy, This is probably a stupid question but I have to ask, are you adjusting the before/after time setting before hitting update? In other words setting 2 minutes >After>Sunset etc. Thanks, Tim
  4. Yes, hopefully it is simple. Right click on the program in the left pane, select copy to clipboard. Then paste here, then highlight what was just pasted and select the Code button above. Tim
  5. I just checked (running 2.8.4 also) and I am able to select before and after and when saved the ISY saves. If From Sunrise - 1 minute To Sunset + 1 minute (same day) And Time is Sunrise - 1 minute And Time is Sunrise + 1 minute And Time is Sunset + 1 minute And Time is Sunset - 1 minute Then - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') But that may not mean much, some people were having problems with 2.8.3 / 2.8.4 and some weren't. Hopefully others will also check and report. Tim
  6. One more thing I should mention. Setting the brightness of the LED did work in previous ISY versions although I cannot say which version it stopped working in since it has been at least 5 months since I last adjusted a ms. It could very well be this last version since a lot of work probably had been done to add more settings. Thanks, Tim
  7. Hi Rand, I tried setting to 50 and 255 (I didn't remember it going that hi before, thought 100 was the upper limit) and still no LED on trip. Thanks, Tim
  8. I just finished setting up 2 2420m motion sensors. I noticed the LED was not flashing when motion was detected. Jumper 2 is off and the default 100 is the setting for the brightness. I am on 2.8.4 and the ms are v2.0 I factory reset the motion (without restoring in ISY) and the LED flashes with every detection. I then selected options for the ms in ISY. The ISY reported all the original default settings for the ms. I didn't change any, just hit save. After that no LED on motion detection. Its almost like the ISY is turning off the LED option instead of setting the level. Can anyone else confirm? This occured for both ms I set up this morning. Both motions are v2 and purchased about 3 months ago. One of the ms has the address sticker in the usual location in the battery location, the other ms has the sticker on the back, visible without removing the battery lid, which I thought was interesting. Thanks, Tim
  9. Hi Steve, You want the ms to turn the office light on at 50%, anytime there is motion or just at certain times? Do you want the motion to turn the light full on at other times? The use of "Scene Adjust" in a program will adjust the on/ramp levels in a scene to what ever you specify so that the next time the scene is turned on the light will turn on to those levels. But calling out the "scene adjust" in a program will not turn on the scenes or make adjustments to a scene when it is turned on already. Tim
  10. Also it looks like your program "Office On 50%" is just adjusting the scene when the 2 Office - Sensor switches on, which is too late. That program needs to be run before the ms triggers in order for the scene to turn on at 50%. Tim
  11. Hi Michel, After the work you did on my ISY yesterday/last night and since I installed the 2.8.4 upgrade you sent me in an email this morning everything appears to be working 100%. Thank you very much. Do I need to install this firmware also or do I not need to worry about it. Thanks again, Tim
  12. Are your exterior lights something other than incandescent? Tim

I believe if they were all dimmers then: If Status of 'Keypad A' is not Off would catch any percent dimmed, from 1% to 100%, and would return a true. Tim
  14. Hi Michel, Here are the results I got after installing 2.8.4 The 1st time opening admin console it took about 40 seconds for the devices to show status. Programs seemed to be running as usual. The 2nd time opening admin console status of devices took a minute or so to popped up. Again program summary and details popped up after the usual 20 seconds. Also, the batch mode buttons never appeared, neither did they show up under file>. The 3rd time opening admin console status after 20 seconds the username/password window opened again (it already had my username and password entered, just hit ok). After which red ! appeared next to devices in the left pane. 20 seconds later they disappeared. 4 minutes later the device status still hadn't appeared. Unable to gain access to program summary or program details. Closed it down and retried. The 4th time opening admin console the username/password didn't pop up for a second time like in the 3rd attempt but device status never appeared either and again no access to program summary or details. At this point I couldn't close the admin window. Had to go into task manager to close. Using http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.4/admin.jnlp - Java application for the first 4 attempts. I tried accessing from the internet, no go. I also tried from http://myipaddress, no go. I tried from the desktop icon again and no go. At this point I am locked out. And it appears programs (or at least some programs are not running). LED's on the ISY: Power on. All others off. When pressing any SL the RX lights and stays lit for about 10 seconds with the TX flashing breifly then they turn off. Occurs every time a switch is pressed. At this point I don't know if I should try and reboot or what. Also awaiting further instructions. Thanks, Tim
  15. Hi Mitch236, Looks good. The only thing that may cause a problem that I can see is the delay in the program: If Program '1 Front/Theater Door' is True Then Wait 30 seconds Enable Program 'Front Door Breached' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') If the Front/Theater Door is closed before the 30 seconds are up the program will turn back to false (as would the programs in my suggestions above). You may have to break the program into two. Tim
  16. I just wanted to give some further feedback since reverting back to 2.8.2. After factory resetting the ISY and doing a plm restore things seemed to be back to normal. But as a couple of days progressed some kpl buttons were lighting up when they shouldn't and some devices were controlling other devices when they shouldn't. And some devices weren't reporting their status to the ISY (or the ISY wasn't listening). Yesterday I restored all devices. So far all has been well, its been about 18 hours so far. Being back to 99.9% is a good feeling! Based on another thread I read, is it looking like those of us with older plm's are the only ones not able to upgrade? Thanks, Tim
  17. How about removing the folder condition for Alarmed Notification. Then changing the program to: If Program '1 Front/Theater Door' is True And Program 'System Alarmed' is True Then Wait 5 seconds Send Notification to 'Home' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') or possibly this way: If Program '1 Front/Theater Door' is True And Program 'System Armed Away' is True Then Wait 5 seconds Send Notification to 'Home' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Tim
  18. Since the zone opening occurs first (within a split second any way) then the alarm trips, I wonder if this might work: If Program '1 Front/Theater Door' is True And Folder 'Alarmed Notifications' is True Then Send Notification to 'Home' Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') Tim
  19. Hi Michel, I am using static ip with a specified port other than default. And I tried http://your.isy.ip.address/admin and http://www.universal-devices.com/99i/2.8.3/admin.jnlp both of which produced the same results after the first log in. Thanks, Tim
  20. I had the exact same problem as rlav this morning. In fact I spend the better part of this morning messing with it. I finally had to do a factory reset on the ISY because even when I reverted back to 2.8.2 I was having the same problems! After factory resetting and reverting back to 2.8.2 and reinstalling the last good backup all was normal again. Before the upgrade I rebooted the ISY and plm, after the upgrade went thru I cleared java just like I always have in the past. Very strange.. Thanks, Tim Edit: One more thing I noticed, may or may not be important. The first time the console comes up and the devices appear there is a delay and then the batch mode buttons appear at the same time as the status updates do. The second time and after of opening the console the batch mode buttons don't appear nor do the status indicators, just the devices show up. Running ISY99Pro/ir with network and WB modules. Thanks Tim
  21. You didn't say but if you have internet there you will be able to remotely control any of your devices thru cell phone or computer if you do. If not then you could use motion sensors mounted where they will detect the vehicle as you drive up, however animals can/will trip the motion sensors. Smarthome does carry a couple of vehicle sensors but I do not have any experience with them. Maybe someone who does can chime in. Here are some examples: http://www.smarthome.com/7313/Dakota-Alert-WPA-3000-Wireless-Probe-Driveway-Alert/p.aspx http://www.smarthome.com/73150/Dakota-Alert-Wireless-Rubber-Hose-Driveway-Sensor-Transmitter-Only-WHT-3000/p.aspx http://www.smarthome.com/70422/Enforcer-Indoor-Outdoor-Wall-Mounted-Photoelectric-Beam-Sensor-with-35-Foot-Range-E-931-S35RRQ/p.aspx There may be an easier all in one solution but this was the first thing that came to my mind: A 220v Insteon switch (provided the amp rating is within spec of the switch) http://www.smarthome.com/2477SA1/INSTEON-220V-240V-30-AMP-Load-Controller-Normally-Open-Relay-Dual-Band/p.aspx or http://www.smarthome.com/2456S3/ApplianceLinc-Relay-INSTEON-Plug-in-Appliance-Control-Module-3-pin/p.aspx with an EZIO2x4 or EZIO6i http://www.smarthome.com/31280/SimpleHomeNet-6-Input-INSTEON-Interface-Module-EZIO6I/p.aspx and temp. sensors http://www.smarthome.com/1523/Temperature-Sensing-IC-Chip/p.aspx wired into the analog inputs of the EZIO will give you set points to turn the heaters on/off. Tim
  22. Billy, I just re-read thru this thread again to try and figure out why my v2 ms were working. Originally I noted you had jumper 3 and 5 On. I was thinking at the time that jumper 3 was the LED on/off jumper, didn't realize until LeeG's comment that jumper 3 was the night only jumper. It was then that I realized I had never tested the ms with that jumper in place because I was interested in 24hr motion detection. I had been experimenting with the d/d settings of the ms for other programs. Again, I apologize, I should have double checked what jumper 3 was before posting. Tim
  23. I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers LeeG. Sorry if it came off like I was trying. I understand and appreciate what you are saying. And I appreciate all of the help you have been with UDI, this forum and the Smarthome forum. The thing is Illusion has the same rev kpl's as I do (v.36). I am able to put the bottom button in non-toggle-off mode with the ISY. He is not. So in my mind it is either a comm. issue or perhaps the rev of the ISY (his 2.7.15 mine 2.8.2). I just put all 6 of my 6-button v.36 kpl's in toggle mode, one at a time, via the ISY which after each operation caused the bottom button of the corresponding kpl to illuminate. Then I set each kpl top/bottom node back to non-toggle-off. The bottom buttons were still illuminated after the change. Once the On button was pressed followed by an Off button press the Off button illumination stayed off. Turning the device on then off thru the ISY admin. console worked as well to turn off the bottom buttons. Surely I am not the only person who has used this function in the ISY and has it working. Illusion, when you change from toggle to non-toggle do you get an operation hour glass pop up for a second or two indicating the ISY is performing the change? Also does your event viewer show any activity? Offered as a comparison this is the log from the viewer when putting the on/off node in non-toggle-off mode: Thu 09/30/2010 05:36:19 AM : [16 71 CD 1 ] Memory : Write dbAddr=0x0249 [C3] Thu 09/30/2010 05:36:19 AM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 16.71.CD 1F 2E 00 01 08 C3 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 06 (00) Thu 09/30/2010 05:36:20 AM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 16.71.CD 11.DD.F9 23 2E 00 (00) Thu 09/30/2010 05:36:20 AM : [standard-Direct Ack][16.71.CD-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=0 This is the log when putting the same node back to toggle mode: Thu 09/30/2010 05:39:40 AM : [16 71 CD 1 ] Memory : Write dbAddr=0x0249 [00] Thu 09/30/2010 05:39:40 AM : [iNST-ACK ] 02 62 16.71.CD 1F 2E 00 01 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 06 (00) Thu 09/30/2010 05:39:40 AM : [iNST-SRX ] 02 50 16.71.CD 11.DD.F9 23 2E 00 (00) Thu 09/30/2010 05:39:40 AM : [standard-Direct Ack][16.71.CD-->ISY/PLM Group=0] Max Hops=3, Hops Left=0 Tim
  24. Is the ISY program looking for Control or Status of the light turning on? If its Control then change it to Status, if it is Status then it should work unless there are comm. problems I should think. Tim
  25. I have seen that too in the owners manual pdf. But here is a quote from Steve Lee from Smartlabs on the subject: Here is the link to the quote: http://www.smarthome.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5705&SearchTerms=kpl Tim
