Support thread: IoX 5.5.9 Release

Recommended Posts

Everything is working, had to clear java cache.

Good thing Java didn't really take off and we are not running many java apps.... would suck to have to re-install ALL java applets each time clearing cache so IoX launcher works ;)

Very excited about new i3 support!

My i3 Dial doesn't send updates to the AC when the state is changed manually, but it does update appropriately when the state is changed in the AC.  The release notes indicated "initial support".  It's not all the way there yet.

EDIT: Nothing appears in the Event Viewer when the device state is manually changed.

I choose to understand that "initial support" indicates that it's likely that these switches are now safe to purchase. 🙃

Oh ok, so no change really from before. I will hold off ordering one then, I was interested in the i3 dial but don't really need at this time.

Successful upgrade from IoX 5.5.6 to IoX 5.5.9 on Polisy.  Also upgraded PG3 3.1.17 to 3.1.18.  Upgrade was initiated from the AC.  The only thing different this time was the absence of the 5 beeps at the end of the update.  I followed the basic instructions listed with the upgrade except for power cycling Polisy.  Mine is not easy to get to at the moment.  If you reboot from the AC, is it necessary to also power cycle Polisy?

I've been told it does accomplish the same thing.

Now, I can't verify this for this update since there is some groundwork for future changes to PG3x for the Polisy. But I think if you've successfully updated and things are back as expected then you should be okay. If you notice admin console, PG3, or node servers not loading then perhaps a full power cycle might be needed.

Upgraded from 5.5.5 to 5.5.9.  PG3 should have upgraded from 3.17 to 3.18 but I don't know if it did.  PG3 has not come back since.

Used AC to update.  Got all the beeps.  Have not been able to log in since.  Can't even find PG3.  I can SSH to policy just fine.

Any thoughts?

First, try a safety reboot and if that doesn't work, try a safety shutdown, followed by removing power for several minutes.

Here is the info from the wiki on the multi-function button.

Multi Function Button

Multifunction.png

There's a little multi function button behind the very small hole on the front of the unit. This button has multiple purposes outlined below. Every click on the button will cause the unit to beep.

If the button does not behave as described below, please update Polisy.

Update and Upgrade All the Packages

Click the button once. Please consult support before updating this route. See link below for suggested update/upgrade process.

Please see this important update (July 2022)

Safely Reboot

Click the button twice.

Safely Shutdown

Click the button three times.

I'm glad to see UD working on this, too. But Insteon--meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

What is initial support?

Although support is almost complete, but due to lack of documentation, the following is not yet working:

5.5.9 fixes the issue of my GoControl / Linear GD00Z-4 Z-Wave Garage Door Opener Controller not providing status from it's Barrier Alarm node.

After running an "Update with Interview" on the node, my programs now have access to all the status states from the Barrier Alarm, including "Low battery warning", which is the one I was most interested in.

If you’re going to quote the release maybe post the WHOLE release…or at least the important part after what you seem to take issue with…

We are working with insteon.com on getting these minor issues resolved ASAP.

I’d say that UDI even adding/acknowledging that some of the i3 support is available is a big step, and saying they are actively WORKING with Insteon is an even bigger step. Considering the focus of recent updates was squashing bugs the process to introduce the initial support for a brand new (to the wide public) product is HUGE!

So don’t throw shade without acknowledging the line following your quote.

Would you have rather waited for UDI to comment on i3 support until it was fully implemented? We already have posts here asking if i3 will work with eisy/Polisy, heck even some hoping it will show up on the “ancient” <grin> ISY994. I think this release addresses those questions perfectly. It’s in the works, they’re working with Insteon to have full support. And for those 994 users that want to add i3 now know they will need to upgrade to have support. No more questions and wishful thinking. Well done UDI! Thank you for addressing the i3 support question!

Upgraded two Polisy's today one starting from 5.4.4 and the other from 5.5.7. Both system's upgraded without issue. The 5.4.4 took about five minutes. Don't rush these box's when they are upgrading, let them beep at you when they are done, don't start poking at them until then. The 5.5.7 took less than a minute. Neither system uses any z-wave, strictly Insteon, with five and twelve NS's respectively.
