Is Insteon dead?
It's possible that the dimmers may be back in stock about February. The Polisy is the replacement for the ISY. You may want to take a look at Z-wave devices. The ISY and Polisy both support Z-wave

What firmware should I upgrade to from 5.2?
Anytime you update your ISY firmware you MUST clear your Java cache including applications and then download the ISY launcher.

What firmware should I upgrade to from 5.2?
When you click on Help | About the admin console what does it show for firmware and UI? When you cleared your Java cache did you also check the box for Applications. Which would have deleted your ISY Launcher from your desktop. You would then need to download the ISY Launcher.

ISY on Polisy v5.3.0 (IoP) - OUTDATED
The Z-wave migration from the ISY to the Polisy in still under development. Currently your only option would be to build your Z-wave network from scratch on the Polisy. The PLM shipped with a serial cable that works with the Polisy's 9 pin serial port. The Z-wave dongle which is compatible with the Polisy is the Zooz ZST10. It uses the 700 series chip.

Backup Errors -->need a solid backup before moving to Polisy
What is your current firmware and UI version?

ISY on Polisy v5.3.0 (IoP) - OUTDATED
Polisy is the replacement for the ISY994. The Polisy, as does the ISY, requires a PLM which is currently unavailable. No one knows when it will be restocked. The Polisy can support Z-wave without the need for a PLM

Control condition not picking up the switch press...
It's possible that your PLM has reached its capacity. When you delete certain items the link tables will continue remain in the PLM. The only way to remove those unused links and reclaim storage space in the PLM is to do a factory reset on it then a Restore PLM. If you don't have any battery-operated devices then it should go smoothly. If you do have battery operated devices then you need to disable automatic writes to battery devices in the admin console before you do a restore PLM. You'll then need to put each battery device into the linking mode, only one at a time, and then do a restore device. Take the device out of the linking mode before you restore the next one. Don't forget to do an ISY backup before you do anything.

Isy not receiving status from device
One other possibility is that the other Insteon device in the 2 gang box could be interfering with your switch. Pull out the set button on the other device to see it that makes a difference.

Isy not receiving status from device
You mentioned that the status doesn't display in the event log, does it display correctly in the device window of the admin console? The only option left that I can think of would be to upgrade the ISY firmware and UI to the current release which is 5.3.4. It's possible that your current version doesn't fully support the device.

Gschoffstall
So is everything working now? Is your UI and firmware the same version?
-
Gschoffstall
Did you do a factory reset on the PLM, IF NOT DON'T DO IT. Is your ISY firmware and UI the same version? If all your hard wired devices are working properly then your PLM is OK. Take one battery operated device at a time, put it in the linking mode, then do a restore device. Push its set button twice to exit the linking mode before you do the next battery operated device.

Login problems
Based on an earlier post, the button push solved the problem

Isy not receiving status from device
It sounds like the link tables may be corrupted. Right click on the device in the admin console, then click on diagnostics | show device link tables. After the window populates click on compare to see if you have any mismatched links

Login problems
Clear out your Java cache including all applications and then download the ISY launcher.

Isy not receiving status from device
If you manually turn the switch on and off does the status show in the ISY? Try disconnecting the load from the switch and see if the status displays. It's possible that the driver circuit in the bulb(s) could be creating noise on the powerline that's interfering with the Insteon signal.

Isy not receiving status from device
What type of device is it? Is it a dual band device? What type of load is connected to the device?

ISY on Polisy v5.3.0 (IoP) - OUTDATED
Cleared the Java cache and I'm getting the same error as @tazman when using the ISY launcher. When do you think Z-wave migration will be available? When migrating from the ISY to the Polisy does the ISY still retain its functionality other than the Portal access?

Need help Documenting my ISY994i configurations
A starting point would be the "Generate Topology" report which you can access in the Admin Console under tools. Screen shots of your ISY configuration and prints outs of your programs, if any, would provide good documentation.

Can I upgrade my ISY994i to control Z-Wave modules?
The original Z-wave dongle used the 300 series chip, the current Z-wave dongle uses the 500 series chip. The latter has improved speed and range. The Polisy, which will be the ISY replacement, uses the 700 series chip in its exterior dongle. The 700 series offers improved performance over the 500 series. Currently in development is the 800 series which also has a long-range version with a 1.5 mlle range.

Device type wrong for Insteon Keypad after upgrade from 4.9.0 to 5.3.4
If, after you delete it and add it back, it still shows as a 6 button KPL then you'll need to follow my previous suggestion but then you'll also have to delete and reinstall it again.

Device type wrong for Insteon Keypad after upgrade from 4.9.0 to 5.3.4
When you do a restore device it rewrites the links in the KPL with the data links stored in the ISY,

Device type wrong for Insteon Keypad after upgrade from 4.9.0 to 5.3.4
These were most likely 6 button KPLs that were converted to 8 button. Try doing a restore device on the KPL which may correct your issue. If that doesn't work then do the following to reconfigure it to a 8 button KLP, then do a restore device. 1. Gently pull the set button out as far is it will go 2. Wait 10 seconds 3. While simultaneously holding the On/Off (upper left-most) button and the H (bottom right-most) button, carefully push the set button back in, flush with the trim frame 4. Continue holding the On/Off (upper left-most) button and the H (bottom right-most) button until the keypad beeps Keypad is now in 8 button mode
