@larryllix no, based on the comment before the quoted section… I took that as though @CoolToys was trying to set a static IP on the eisy. Good luck with your adventures and getting things sorted out. I try to keep a spreadsheet of MAC and IP reservations, but I don’t usually reserve more than a dozen items.

@hec FYI the last PDF “screenshot” shows the program tab, but those are NOT exclamation marks. That’s standard program colors. Please refer to the wiki information here: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY_Programs:Icon_Colors Seems like you’re on the hunt for possible PLM issues. Have you opened a support ticket yet? I think it might be fixable with some help from UD support. At the very least they could probably confirm if it’s a PLM issue or not.
-
Please see my last comment. Open a support ticket. You’ve done everything us users would usually suggest so now you need to get help directly from UD. Please post back how this is resolved to help us and others.
-
Been that since eisy was released. UD had so many support issues with people setting static on the ISY994 that they seemed to disable it in a Polisy update and since eisy release. It’s best to reserve the IP at the router level. Has been the suggested process for many years.
-
Thanks for confirming they match. I haven't seen any (many) mention they're on 5.9.1. Is this a newly received eisy? I would open a support ticket with UD to get direct help with this. As @apostolakisl mentions I don't recall seeing ! on the program page. Only on the device page. Will you share a screen shot of the program tree? (Again, please only post as an image. Maybe MacOS can't do that, but try your best.) Open a support ticket here: https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Please update us with the resolution from support so that we can learn and possibly help others should they run into this issue in the future.

FYI your “screenshot” is a PDF. Better to upload as image as it’s difficult to open/view PDFs on the forums on mobile devices. Your topic mentions programs having red exclamation mark, but do you mean devices? Not familiar with programs having this appearance. The restore modem might have messed you up a little. If a program is saying it cannot communicate then make sure your Firmware and UI match exactly. What Firmware (and UI) are you running? I would suggest restoring the backup again. Then if it really is a program issue open the first program. Make an adjustment then hit SAVE for the programs. Then change it back and hit save again. If you really mean devices aren’t responding be sure that Insteon is checked on the Configuration tab.

@andrewherman please let us know what version firmware and UI is showing in admin console help -> about. Please give actual version numbers (make sure they match). Also let us know what version of PG3x you’re running. be sure that you have closed admin console and relaunched it (plugin nodes only load on launch so if you kept admin console open while manipulating in PG3x it hasn’t updated correctly. Log into the UD Portal and confirm PG3 remote connection is active. Select Tools -> PG3 -> Remote Connection Last thing….do you happen to remember what version firmware or PG3x you were running before the update? I forget when the process to reinstall plugins needed to run, but that might be something if it was “really” old version. It might be best if you open a support ticket with UD to get specific help if you don’t get this resolved by the reboots or reinstalling the plugins as you described to have done. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets

When you log in next look at the Programs tab and "Summary". Do you have any programs stuck in a loop? Aside from what @paulbates suggested for allocated memory (referenced in the wiki) given that your system has 12GB ram it should be zippy. I might up the number that @paulbates suggests to "1024m". Some have found setting the min and the max (to the same number) also might help. I haven't adjusted this in a long time so think Java might be playing better with IoX Launcher/Finder, but if you have a large system it could be bogging down based on the memory being provided to Java. -Xms = selects the initial memory allocated -Xmx = selects the maximum that can be allocated.

I've got my Z-Matter dongle connected with a standard USB Extension cable of about 3 feet (similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-3-Feet-Female-Extension-105432/dp/B002KKZAIU/). I've had it this way for the last couple of years just to get the device mounted on the back of my equipment cabinet to be away from the case or other metal cases in the cabinet I have network and other electronics in. I have a few Z-Wave devices and a few Zigbee devices and can't remember a time that they were unreachable or noticed the dongle to not be connected. It has happened, but not often enough for me to worry about it. Usually a reboot/power cycle of the eisy brought things right back. Honestly, for the first 6 months or so of having the eisy+Z-Matter it was directly connected to it. I only added the extender as a precaution to remove the weight off the device directly, but also to put the antenna more in the "open". I believe there were a lot of comments about running USB Extension cables a couple of years ago(maybe when Polisy came out, but again when eisy was released). Might find those posts using Google Site Search since forum search won't find archived topics.

Not me. I guess my question is why is this necessary (why are you doing this)? My outlook on notifications is more for if something doesn't happen that results in an urgent situation (like a water leak or CO sensor alarm). My thought is if I get notifications all the time that I (personally) would tend to disregard the notifications and therefore potentially miss an urgent alert. I don't worry when lights turn on (or off). I just care if there is really an urgent situation that I should be notified about that would alarm me and mean I should look into the situation.

Not possible. Either you migrate the entire ISY994 system to the eisy or you start from scratch and link and build scenes in the new eisy.

@tpventure welcome to the UD forums. Sorry you're having difficulty. What computer OS are you running? IoX Admin Console is developed to best run with the standard Java version downloaded from java.com (currently Version 8 Update 441 updated January 21, 2025). If you're on Windows (or sometimes MacOS) your best bet would be to remove all versions of Java and download directly from java.com for your operating system. In Windows you will need to make sure that start.jnlp is associated with Java Web Launcher (javaws.exe), which is typically found in the Java/(version)/bin directory (for Windows anyway). The eisy/IoX Launcher is exactly the same as the ISY Launcher that you probably used with the ISY994 if you've accessed the admin console since 2018. If you continue to have problems with the start.jnlp you can attempt the direct connection method of getting the admin.jnlp (http://eisy.local:8080/admin.jnlp - if doesn't resolve .local replace "eisy.local" with your eisy IP address) from the eisy, but it seems that you're using a different java platform to access it and it's not loading properly. Resolving that should get you back up and running with Admin Console.

https://wiki.universal-devices.com/UD_Mobile#Scene_Estimated_Status Might help explain it. Not sure if options have changed since I know UD Mobile UI has changed slightly over time.
-
@Jimini your topic has been split out of where you originally posted to get specific help for your issues rather than where it was (under a new user's post that hadn't returned since their initial posting. Have you attempted to add it manually either using eisy.local or the IP for the eisy? (process referenced in the wiki troubleshooting) It appears that you've attempted the usual troubleshooting steps and things still are not correct. It might be best to get help directly from UDI through a support ticket. (https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets) Recently there were some that migrated over and found that several power cycles were needed for the USB PLM to be found by the eisy. But once that was resolved a restore of the ISY994 backup seemed to work well. Is it possible to locate the eisy back to where you had the ISY994 so you can use a network wire to connect it and test the setup process? At least an option just for the initial setup and possibly additional troubleshooting with support. Then once things are working you could change to wifi and relocate the device (and PLM). If you do open a support ticket please post back here what helped resolve the issue to possibly help others in the future.

What do you mean? I'm surprised there wasn't a post at 12:01am on January 1st asking about the update. @jtara92101 as for the "slow moving announcements" area - last I checked on that there are so many moving parts now that it's hard to make an announcement when things are updated. That's why UD Mobile was being used to alert users about an update a few months ago. However, with this being a "big" upgrade/release I'm hopeful UD will have a good release, documentation, and processes in place to help with the transition.

“Switched” is typically a physical operation of the device. ”Status” is what is reported back to the ISY/IoX system. If you mean that you have Geofence programs that are sending notifications and you use switched then those won’t fire because Geofence interaction is only changing the “status” of the device. Maybe posting the program (right click on the program and select “Copy to clipboard” then paste (as text) here for review and help. If it’s not UD Mobile/geofence related then start a new topic in the IoX Program Support area.

Capitalization of User for Admin Consul vs PG3 dash vs SSH ?
Geddy replied to junkycosmos's topic in eisy
@junkycosmos IoX user/pass would then be the same for PG3x. The ssh user/pass is system generated so not the same as IoX (and not controlled/changed/updated if you change on IoX). So I think what you’re experiencing is to be expected. Not sure if you can “change” the ssh admin user to be capitalized. You can (and should) only change the pass for the admin user. -
@cwhite951 did you by chance migrate from an ISY994 running a 4.x firmware? (Do you recall?) your symptoms somewhat indicate you might have and now in the 5.x firmware scenes are different and need to be repaired and sometimes recreated or reconfigured. Make sure if you’re manipulating a scene from admin console or Alexa that the scene settings are correct at the scene level. Like you I set my scenes up ages ago, but I did go to 5.x on the ISY994 and had to fix things back then. Thankfully they worked after the eisy migration a couple of years ago.

Which would you recommend: Openweathermap or Weatherbit
Geddy replied to SHM's topic in Polyglot v3 (PG3x)
@SHM perhaps you could describe what you're wanting to use it for a little bit. It might help pinpoint something that another option might have or not have. As @bpwwer says since they're pulling from airport locations it might not be of value to you if you're not close to the area being used. I'm about 2 miles from a local airfield that OpenWeather is pulling from so it's fairly accurate. I don't need things so pinpoint accurate to run a personal weather station. For simple temp and humidity I have YoLink sensors outside to get temp and humidity at my location. -
@cwhite951 agreeing with @paulbates about knowing the steps you took to this point, but also would ask what version of Java did you download? If you just go to java.com and download the current release found there (currently showing: Version 8 Update 431 [Release Date: October 15, 2024]) that's all you need. Often times people will download a different java version and it's not going to run correctly without a lot of work. Next be sure no VPN or Anti-virus software is running. Then just a random thought is run the "Configure Java" app (in Windows just hit the Windows icon to open the menu and type in "java" and "Configure Java" should come up as an app. Once that is open click on the Advanced tab. Scroll to (near) the bottom and make sure to UNCHECK "Use SSL 2.0 compatible ClientHello format" if it's currently checked. (It more than likely shouldn't be, but just in case something caused it to be checked be sure to uncheck it. Lastly, just double check that start.jnlp is associated with Java Web Launcher. Open windows explorer and locate your start.jnlp file, right click, and select properties. In the "Opens with" portion it should show "Java(TM) Web Launcher". If it's not showing that you need to change what it opens with "javaws" (it's being put in different places here and there. I'm on Win10 and found it in "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_431\bin". (more than likely you won't have to get into this amount of fixing it though)

@CoolToys I think there was mention of some 3D printed trays in the past. Maybe try a Google Site search for it. Probably in archived topics by this time so standard forum search might not find them. Update: Made me want to go find them. I guess they were only talking about Polisy. I only found one thread I recalled about a bracket. I think there was a mount of some sort included (at least in early runs of the eisy). But as @carealtor suggests below there might be mounts available for the MiniPC around.
-
@Guy Lavoie I think if that were possible it would have been achieved a long time ago. I'm sure this has to have been a request (or many) somewhere along the way. It might be an issue within the Insteon technology and rather than risk breaking something keeping it simple in the ISY/IoX world of things to only be able to replace like devices. Certainly something you could pose directly to UDI using their contact us from the web: https://www.universal-devices.com/contact-us/ It might be something those that have been around a lot longer (like @Brian H or @IndyMike) would have knowhow of if this is an Insteon limitation or indeed just a limited ISY/IoX situation. Maybe even @lilyoyo1 might have some insight. Just a few names that I know have the history and certainly more insight to the underlying technology (in a non-official way anyway).
-
@jkraus not sure. I don't have devices like that. Try it out and report back. Maybe in your YoLink thread. Unless you think it would apply to both brands and plugins.
-
@jkraus didn't you already ask this? Oh...that was for YoLink. I would expect the same answer here. Doubtful since there's no direct link from the Insteon signal to the Plugin to control Kasa. Perhaps you could create a program for brightness setting, but that's not usually controllable by pressing a dimmer and holding it to get the brightness you desire. Typically (from my experience) Insteon dimmers usually only impact Insteon devices and/or direct power load. External systems (those that are connected via Plugins) don't typically respond to Insteon commands without other programming through the IoX system.
-
@jkraus usually the plugin will pickup a name change, but it might need to be restarted. Otherwise, the prior node might need to be deleted then the plugin restarted for it to refresh and pull from the connected system. Make sure that the admin console is CLOSED during this process. IoX Admin Console only loads node names at launch so it will not refresh there if changed in the PG3x interface until the next time IoX AC loads.
