Thanks for posting and confirming that "THEN" does indeed turn the light on. Seems like might be something with the ELK plugin. Perhaps others with experience with ELK can chime in with assistance. What are other statuses of the Elk "Pantry Door"? If you leave the door open does the admin console show status "Open"? Or does it indicate a different status?
-
@Me2 please post the actual program that doesn’t work…right click on the program and select “COPY to clipboard” and paste it into your reply. I’m not familiar with the Elk plugin, but it seems that you might be using control rather than status, but depends on how the zone change is handled by the plugin and IoX. On the program that doesn’t work right click and select “Run Then”. Does the light turn on? If so then the IF needs to be edited.

I think @larryllix has some code he wrote for his own use, but think others get wifi bulbs connected to the IoX system via network resources. I'm not sure how that happens so can't point you much further than that. Try a Google Site Search for the forums to find some archived posts about wifi bulbs. There was a post by @Javi that if you have the ZMatter dongle for the eisy you can directly connect Hue bulbs to the eisy. I'm happy with the hub bulbs trough their hub and using the Hue plugin to have them in the IoX system.

What's the date code on the PLM? Should be a sticker on the backside. It's uncommon for "current" product PLM to fail, but it's not impossible for them to fail for any number of reasons. Either open a support ticket with UD and see if they can help you with further troubleshooting steps to see if the PLM is bad or not. Or perhaps Aartech has a way to troubleshoot since you've already talked with them. As @paulbates suggests it does sort of sound like a bad PLM if you've had multiple issues with it going back over a month ago. I guess my real question is your original post said "Programs and Alexa commands don’t work". Now that you're back and "it's happening again", what really is happening THIS time?
-
yeah, I was going to say it sounded like a PLM issue. Glad you got that sorted out. So you're able to control the light again? This sounds like it's not saving the location or can't reach a time server on the internet. Are you running any non-standard routers? How is the eisy connected to your network (wifi or ethernet)? There were issues in an early firmware about being stuck on LA time, but you're on 5.8.4 so shouldn't be an issue. Can you confirm that you're running 5.8.4 both firmware and UI? I know above you said firmware is 5.8.4, but is the admin console running UI that matches the firmware? Try setting a custom location with using your coordinates. Use Google maps. Type in your address. Right click on the location to get the coordinates. Enter them in to admin console (don't use the negative for "Long" just put it in as the numbers). Make sure ""Daylight Saving Rule" is set to US-Canada and set the Timezone Offset (-5) if it isn't already set. If you set a custom location and the eisy is able to connect to a time server online I'm not sure what is happening. It might be time to open a support ticket and get their tricks of the trade to look at the setup and find what's missing. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets Just be sure if you open a support ticket and get it sorted out to update here so we know what happened to fix the issue.

@CWM Did you perform this step mentioned above? When you click "Run Then" it doesn't evaluate the "IF" and will operate the "THEN" portion of the program. Make sure that turns the light on as expected. Is the light in an area that might have communication issues? Is it a wired device? Is it outside of the garage? Sometimes garage door openers can cause noise that blocks the Insteon signal. Since this is a "new house" (as you stated above) you don't know what signal loss you might have going out to where this device/light is located. At least now you seem to report that the next run time is more as expected of 5 minutes after sunset. Seems like something is progressing. Do you have a lot of "sunset +5 min" programs? If you have multiple programs triggering at once it could be a communication issue so add more stagger to spread the communication out.
-
@CWM So this is a new setup then. And you can control devices from the admin console just fine? Could you share the program with the offset? Right click on the program, select the last menu item of "COPY to clipboard" then paste it as text in your reply. (Don't use "export" only use the COPY option) (Dang... @MrBill beat me to that one!) Some things to review: Is the program nested in a folder other than the root folder? If so, are there folder conditions that cause the folder to be false? If so any program within that folder will not fire. In Admin console - does the correct time of day (and date) show at the top of the screne? Wanting to be sure that the eisy can communicate with a time server to know the real time of day. Is your location set correctly so that sunset is accurate? If you force the program to run (right click the program and select "Run Then"), does it operate as expected? On the Program Summary tab is there a "last run" showing? What does the icon for the program look like? (Key for colors from wiki: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY_Programs:Icon_Colors)

@CWM welcome to the UD Forums! Did you make sure you followed the migration process to move from the ISY994 to the eisy? Or are you attempting to setup all devices with the new eisy and new PLM? If you replaced the PLM in the process you will need to restore the backup then replace the modem. It makes it a little more tricky because the backup from the ISY994 is looking for the address of the old PLM until you perform the replace modem process. Migration steps: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Eisy:User_Guide#Migrating Replace modem steps: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:File_Menu#Replace_Modem_(PLM) What kind of PLM did you buy? Please note that the eisy only uses the usb connection to communicate to the PLM. With the ISY994 many users had a serial PLM that used a typical network cable to connect to the ISY994. You need a serial to USB conversion cable that UD sells, or make your own. There several posts about how to do that (you might need to use Google Site Search to find them as sometimes the forums search cannot locate old posts if they are auto archived). Just know not to connect a serial PLM to the network port of the eisy. That's just for an ethernet connection. Since you seem to be able to add devices to the eisy they should be talking through the new PLM. It seems that you haven't fully gotten the eisy setup though. What firmware are you running on the eisy? Please be sure you have updated to the most recent firmware. You can locate that in the Current Release Announcement area of the forums. As of today the current release is IoX 5.8.4.
-
@BAbdallah What firmware are you running? (Help -> About) [If not on IoX 5.8.4 (current as of this post) please update] Have you attempted a full power cycle? (pressing the power button 6 times should shut down the eisy then you can pull the power, wait 10-20 seconds and plug it back in (with the dongle attached). Allow 2-3 minutes for the device to fully boot and stabilize before you open admin console. If still not seeing it please open a support ticket with UD. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets

I would expect if there were issues or important things with an upgrade it would be posted in the release notes at the time of release. Sadly, it seems a lot of people blindly check for updates without getting an alert or reading the release notes. There's only so much that UD can put out in the way of warning or alerts. Can't make everybody happy all the time. People would complain that they get an update notice (either through email or some other way), but they're dead set not to update their system because "it works for me now". Others will complain there was no notification an update published and they blindly updated and something broke. It's just a big catch 22 for UD (IMO). And I agree...many don't have "time" to monitor the forums or keep up with all the little things that are posted in a rare corner of the forums, but this is the most active place that many would find a lot of answers to the questions or issues they have. The forums are the best place to point users to for news and user-to-user support. It's great that UD staff help out as much as they do, but the forums are still mostly user-to-user support. Glad you got things sorted out and up and running!

@SteveT what PG2 plugin are you running that isn’t available on PG3x? As for accessing PG2 I think that might have been phased out in a previous update, but I know PG2 is definitely removed in the upgrade to PG3x process. If the nodes are blank in Admin Console then PG2 is probably not running anymore. Good luck on the ticket. Let us know what happens.

There might be something in the eisy log files, but I can’t begin to suggest what to look for. I would suggest opening a support ticket with UD to get their insight into if the system is rebooting or possibly find what’s causing this to happen at 2 minutes after the hour randomly. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets/ I’m sure there might be, but it’s personal preference for if things need to be run following a reboot. There is also a grace period option for catch up after a reboot. (You can learn more about those options in the ISY Cookbook or wiki) I think the “old” query ISY program was one that many would have run at start since it would update most statuses to be correct for other programs to evaluate. Personally, I don’t have any others running on start.
-
Make sure you have upgraded to PG3x. https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Polisy:User_Guide#Upgrading_to_PG3x If you previously completed that update then do as @DennisC suggests and run upgrade again and reboot then power cycle. If still failing then open a support ticket….once resolved please post what steps fixed your issue so it might help if others have similar issue.

@twired Is your program set to run at boot? (can check and change this setting on the program summary tab and right click to not run at startup) It's possible that it's being triggered with the reboot, but wouldn't explain random times of that happening unless your system is unstable and rebooting. Keep an eye on the program summary tab for "last run" times around the times that the notification happens. You can also try to keep your event viewer running at level 3. It might scroll really fast so after you see a few things happening or get the notification copy it out to clipboard and review if something triggered the event you get notified about. I know @IndyMike is very qualified to help you on the event viewer info.

@kurelgyer last update I recall is in another thread:
-
@twired the best way is to follow the "Current Release Announcement" area of the forums. It will send you an email when new posts are made. Only UD can post there and it's only for releases. It covers IoX, PG3x, UD Mobile and any other "releases" that they make. https://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/339-current-release-announcements/ Click the "Follow" button at the top right for the whole area then make the settings for the notifications that fit your interest for getting notifications. PS: The ISY994 hasn't had the notification of firmware updates since 5.x became an option since the move from 4.x to 5.x required a manual update process all subsequent updates in the 5.x world were manual as well.
-
@twired Thanks for the program. Have you updated the eisy to 5.8.4 yet? In the other thread it seemed to be troubleshooting the IO Linc device (and battery motion sensors), but also updating firmware to the current version might have helped as well. I don't use any battery device, but if you're expecting a heartbeat and don't get one then perhaps replace the battery and restore the device.
-
@twired moved your post out of the long thread you tacked it onto to get help to your specific issue. While might be similar seems like you would require help for your issue and best to have in it's own thread to not get lost/hidden or off topic of prior thread. Please note to post the program that @IndyMike is requesting please right click on the program and select "COPY to clipboard". Then paste that as text in your reply. It makes it easier for people trying to help edit or make comment to the program. Thanks!

You’re probably using the “default” server. You would probably be better off setting up a Gmail account to send this as it would then just be your email. See the wiki for setup instructions and tips for using Gmail. As @DennisC suggests you might be better off with the notification plugin as email to SMS are sometimes filtered or blocked by some carrier. Lots of reports in the forums for delayed alerts. Just depends how mission critical it is for your system.

Geofence / 2 iPhones / I/O Linc Garage Door Control kit
Geddy replied to Rapidway's topic in IoX Program Support
@Rapidway the better way to share programs to the forums is to right click on the program, select "Copy to Clipboard" then post the text in your message. Make sure you use "COPY to clipboard" (not Export). It will post as plain text and easier for others to assisst. What's the program that handles the opening/closing based on the geofence boundary crossing? You probably need to set a variable for both phones and then adjust/create a program for both. It does seem to get a little confusing. I've always been a strong believer that automating an entry point (like you're doing) is not very secure. With the risk of misfires or other unexpected behavior, opening an access point to my house is not something I want automated. Hopefully you don't have this issue. -
If you just updated to PG3x then make sure your IoX and PG3x is up to date. Follow the process outlined in this post: https://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/42067-update-process-for-eisy-and-polisy-devices/ If after everything is current (compare to what is latest release in the "Current Release" area of the forums) if you are still having restarts please open a support ticket with UD (https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets) to get further troubleshooting steps. If you do get help from support please be sure to post back here what happened and hopefully how it was resolved so it might help others if they have similar issues. As for the Portal - you can register a device in the portal and not have a license for it. The license is only necessary if you're planning to use any of the features it adds to the device(s). If the ISY994 is only used for local IR you probably don't have much need for an active portal license.

@aLf question is what computer OS are you running? Windows, macOS, other? Wiki directions: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/Main_Page#Quick_Start_Guides Make sure you're using the basic Java you get when visting: https://www.java.com/en/ (current version 8 Update 421 - Don't download "crazy" java versions thinking a higher number is better...those are typically for only specific use cases. IoX Launcher is developed with "generic" java installed on standard operating systems.) Depending on your computer operating system the process gets tricky if not Windows based.

@smokegrub probably best to raise a ticket with UD. https://www.universal-devices.com/my-tickets I don't think just deleting an app and reinstalling it will do anything to help your situation. It's more likely you would need to remove the skill from the Alexa account and then login again with the skill. I'm not familiar with the process as I haven't had to do that recently, but I'm sure that process is outlined in the UD Wiki somewhere. Maybe also look at this part of the wiki: https://wiki.universal-devices.com/ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Routines_FAQ (while you're not using Routines it might give you other ideas of troubleshooting tips) It's probably a simple fix somehow, but don't know those steps to suggest to be a simple fix. Perhaps through the suppor ticket you can get help to get it sorted out.

I think this might mean it didn't install correctly. Try just installing in the same slot again. What PG3x version are you running?

@Blackbird I use the OpenWeatherMap plugin. You just need to sign up for the API - there's a free option, but be sure you read about the amount of calls you get for free and set your short/long polls accordingly. https://github.com/BME-nodeservers/docs/blob/master/udi-owm-poly.md I believe @bpwwer recently updated this one and it works with the current API supported by OpenWeatherMap. Be sure to read the instructions about how to get an API key and how to setup the plugin. Some on the forums were having issues, but it's just the API does take a little while to "activate". It seems to work fine. I don't use any of the data currently in programs, but when I did there weren't any issues that I knew of for my simple, and limited, use.
