I think it was my fault not rebooting the polisy. I was doing shutdown now -r and should have been shutdown -r now , or better to use sudo reboot

I will try this next time to make sure the argument order is correct. I am used to linux which doesn't have this issue.

However in admin console, restart IoX doesnt seem to work and it hangs, I have to restart again via ssh eg... sudo service isy restart maybe that is not supported command anymore and is old.

I’ve not seen it discussed here (could have missed it) but starting with 6.1.1 from Michel’s release notes there is a built in restore point that enables us to revert back to the prior version if something happens during an upgrade.

Look at eISY-ui System Boot environment. My upgrades have always been fine but it’ll be beyond value if one ever fails. My home is run by eISY. Saying happy wife happy life. Add to that happy eISY I’m not too busy.

Already does very complex ones and can spot and fix errors.

I may well be the slowest guy on this forum! I managed to upgrade the unit to the new firmware - no issues that I can see so far. Took less than 20 minutes...

I had to do the usual Java deletes in order for the AC to work - no problem there, Then I notes that the desktop icon was gone and the only way to access AC was through http://isy.ip/admin.jnlp . Worked fine. But I've tried everything I know to re-establish the UD icon for faster logins. The old tried and true way will not leave an icon.

Very interesting Michel, can the eISY AI do a review of all my Programs to determine if there are any problems that need to be addressed? Like AGY AI?

@mmb , currently, if you give it a problem, such as why this is/is not happening, it will review your logs, then reviews all your programs to come up with a reason. It can also summarize all your programs in a folder as well as find relevant programs. It can also figure out if the logic doesn't make sense. What it can't (yet) do is to answer generic questions without any context. For instance, what type of problems?

Also, this plugin is configurable to use Claude, ChatGPT, and Grok. So the more expensive the model you use, the better the reasoning. Everything I described above is based on the least expensive models (Claude Haiku and GPT Luna).

I get a sense that it might get incorporated into UDI's support, possibly as a self-help screening process if you want to open a ticket. Not that I'm against the idea. Just something that seems to be in the queue. It could be useful for some of the usual questions that can be hard to search on the forum, such as "What updates are still supported on the Polisy?" or "What is the proper procedure to replace a Insteon PLM?".

@aLf Make sure the "Keep temporary files on my computer" box in Java Control Panel>Temporary File Settings is checked.

Well AI engines have pretty much sucked up all knowledge on the internet, so my goto when I have a question as you suggested is just head to Gemini or AGY.

For me what will be nice is eISY’s plug-in to dig into logs and coding, and suggest/make changes.

Started my upgrade and it proceeds as expected then stops and says Check Logs? I see nothing in the logs... I will open a ticket

First of all, it would be very odd to lose the Favorites page following an upgrade. Did you restore a backup or something?

The only solution really is to restore a backup from just before the upgrade.

No Restores were performed. Upgrade went pretty much as expected. I did have issues with 2 plugins (iox-matter and VenstarCT). A second restart resolved the VenstarCT problem, and I had to reinstall iox-matter to resolve that issue. All is working exactly or better than it did before the upgrade. Losing the Custom Page is not a big deal this time. I'm really liking what you can do with the new UI after this upgrade, so will be a bigger deal if it happens again.

To clarify, I was using restart IoX in a program (action, system, restart IoX). The System program action's "Restart IoX" doesn't restart it fully and hung needing service isy restart to recover. The Configuration menu's reboot works fine and appears to use a different method as it restarts the entire Polisy. Therefore should the program action be pointed at that one or is this something specific to my Polisy and fixed or not issue in EISY? Or this this old and nobody uses anymore? I honestly see no use for it on a regular basis but maybe someone does.

Just updated to 6.1.2_3. All looks good.

Thanks. I’m looking so forward to repositioning my very small zwave network from mesh to star topology with 6.1.2 Long Range update. Most of my zwave network is there only to provide mesh for critical devices that provide energy information to detect that the device is currently pulling current.

I’ll definitely post results but sorry to pre-disappoint as they are all mains powered. I had read something similar on the results as they only talk to hub and are not constantly repeating within the mesh.

I may consider expanding zwave usage if it all works as expected. I’m a big Insteon user with between75 and a 100 devices.

I got into zwave for deadbolts and then expanded it when Insteon SyncroLincs died. At this point, the only important devices are for energy reporting needs. Retired zwave deadbolts a few years ago.

I like to know more about this. I read about Java going away. Sadly I dont understand any of this ioo upgarde and not afraid to admit it. Any one will to shed some light in non engineer terms
